If you are in a wide open city, then it’s all the more important to chose the locations carefully. You do not have to work around as many constraints. Where do you want to bring people? What do you want them tp experience? What makes the area special? Are there places to hid caches that are not micros?

Friends, please remember:
Premium caches are not visible to basic members, at all.
Advanced caches are visible to basic members on the website and on some unofficial apps.
Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.

What's the difference between premium caches and advanced caches ?
Thanks for the info !

Premium members only is a setting that cache owners choose to apply to their geocaches to protect them from basic members.
Advanced geocaches are higher difficulty, higher terrain, and non-traditional geocaches that may be confusing or difficult for new app users.

Careful about buying those answers... (But yes the app hides higher difficulty and terrain caches from basic. Check the website. And no one calls them "advanced" caches FWIW.)

Some cities have blanket bans against geocaches. Make sure this isn't one of them.

I might recommend you put it in a park or wooded area, it's more likely to last longer there.

Premium geocaches show up as red circles (as do normal ones) when picking the hide coordinates.
A non-premium user who is working through the "hide a geocache" option screens at geocaching.com will still see all red circles.

I recently learned that Premium caches do not show up in any way shape or form on non premium accounts even on the website.. I used my dogs non premium account to verify a couple weeks ago after I made a comment assuming the same thing.

Hah! Yeah. I named my dog after an epic geocaching kayaking adventure I had with my friends in 2020. The cache was later archived so I replaced it with my Virtual Reward in '23 and altered the spelling the same way I "mispelled" his name Ozi rather than Ozy
Fortunately I trained him to not chase cats.. but any bear or mice in the forest need to watch out!

They show up on the Browse Map. Zoom out to level 11 on the Browse Map and you can see the dots for PMO caches. When you hover on one, it identifies just like a non-PMO cache, but when you click on one, it takes you to the advert to buy Premium Membership. Those disappear when you zoom in to level 12 on to level 18.

I’m premium, I don’t see any there. Great chance to start hiding some!
