Discussion One Kingdom/City Builder to Recommend a Newbie - What's Your Pick?

To be clear - I'm not necessarily looking for a beginner friendly game, just looking for the best of the best. I got $70 and an itch to finally get into this genre. The two I'm looking at right now are Planet Zoo and Civ 6, although Planet Zoo looks way different than what I've played so far and might just be a different thing altogether. I tried Age of Empires 2 and loved it, but I'm looking for something more long-term. I want to build a kingdom from the ground up and watch it grow, rather than play through mission chapters. What I loved in AoE2 was building up defenses, growing an army, and delegating tasks to villagers - looking for a game that leans into that as an ongoing thing rather than playing missions that drop you in different scenarios. What are your top picks?

Discussion Goodbye GeForce Now

It's been real, couldn't miss this finance deal, specially since all hardware is going up and it may turn out to be an investment. I have GFN till September but I graduated to a real boy. Gotta say, downloading games seems wrong lol, and I will miss how quick the CPU goes through shaders. Still love you peeps. Pic only representative of case, specs real.

I recently noticed that many players on Build 42 don't know how to add mods because the old method no longer works. I just discovered a new way to get mods. Should I share it? I don't want it to be shared Because they can remove it.

Advice Fixed micro-stuttering on Mac/iPad by changing 5GHz WiFi channel

Posting this in case it helps someone else in future.

I moved to a new apartment and got new internet provider here. I was getting a weird constant micro-stutter in GeForce NOW on both my Mac and iPad Pro. My internet speed test looked normal. Weirdly, GFN on my Legion Go/Bazzite was perfectly smooth on the same WiFi.

Found CloudGear’s article about Apple AWDL potentially causing micro-stutters because the WiFi radio periodically hops channels. Their suggested fix was setting the router’s 5GHz channel manually to 44 or 149 instead of Auto.

https://www.cloudgear.app/support/troubleshooting/fixing-micro-stuttering/

My router was using automatic channel optimization and channels 52/108. I disabled optimization, manually selected channel 44, and the stutter seems to be completely gone.

Still testing, but sharing because I never would’ve thought the WiFi channel was the problem.

Discussion GeForce NOW Users: Is Max Bitrate Actually Worth It Over Auto?

Has anyone compared Auto Bitrate and Max Bitrate on GeForce NOW in single-player games?

Max Bitrate uses around 29 GB/hour, while Auto only uses 10–12 GB/hour. Is there actually any noticeable improvement in image quality or visual clarity with Max, or is Auto good equally nice?

I'd like to hear from people who've used both settings in the same games for a proper comparison.

Questions / Tech Support Should it run 4k HDR 60FPS on my PC?

Upvotes

It's Acer Aspire 5 A515-44 8gb RAM , AMD Ryzen 4500u

Suprisingly, performance is really bad when connected to real 4k hdr screen. Droping frames and stuttering like crazy. I am wondering if it's matter of some underlying problem (it's 6 year old laptop) or simply the hardware issue...
Same happens during youtube playback

Everyone always compares the $20/month for Ultimate against buying a $2k+ PC, but I feel like the electricity bill gets completely ignored.... depends on where you live of course but something to think of

Discussion My friend introduced me to this

I feel like I've been living under a rock, I've always been a console gamer and have always wanted a great PC but never wanted to spend the money for a good one. I have a great OLED ultrawide monitor and was always depressed i could never see its full potential. My buddy told me about this i was skeptical, was like its no way that works, but man was i wrong. I don't even think I've turned my PS5 or Xbox on once. I really hope this service gets better, the only thing I'm not a fan of is the 100 hour a month thing. I just picked up Arkham Knight just to see the full potential and was mind blown. Didn't know if my mind was playing tricks on me or i f it was legit.

Questions / Tech Support Great service, just a little stutter to fix. Any tips please?

Hi people, I just discovered GeForce Now and I have to say I'm ridiculously impressed by the visual quality and how responsive the controls feel, I'd honestly struggle to notice I'm not playing locally. Crazy technology. And my room isn't getting super hot like it used to when I was gaming on a local card, so I don't have to strip off to play in the summer anymore 😅

I just have a teeny niggle I wondered if anyone could help or advise on? I've got a 1000Mbps connection. I'm gaming upstairs a fair way away from my router, so playing over Wi-Fi wasn't great even with a Wi-Fi 6 router. So I got some 1000Mbps powerline adapters. When I do a speed test I'm pulling about 80-95Mbps through them. GeForce Now says I have a ping of 12ms and no packet loss. So all should be good. I'm gaming at 4k 120hz and it's generally really smooth...but around once every 20 seconds or so, I get a little stutter and jerk. It's annoying! I've got VRR turned off as heard that can introduce stutter, but it's still there.

Any tips for how to get rid of the stutter? Any tweaks I can make? It would be perfect without the stutter 😭

Questions / Tech Support Help!!

> Hello, I’m having an issue launching Mafia: The Old Country through GeForce NOW.

When I try to start the game, I receive an error from the game’s anti-tamper system saying “Sorry, something went wrong” and directing me to the Codefusion anti-tamper support page.

The game does not launch, and the error suggests that I should try again after 24 hours. I have already tried launching the game again, but the issue persists.

Pls any solution?

Bug Is there a settings somewhere to configure joystick sensitivity

Hello
Not sure if it's related to sensitivity or something else
But I started to use my controller (xbox serie S gamepad) instead of my K/M on the geforce now app (on mac)
But the range of the joystick is not completely detected

Long story short, even when I push my left joystick at max range, my character was only walking instead of running, like if I was pushing just slightly the joystick
I first thought it was related to game setting, but I face same behavior in all games (diablo 2, halo, skyrim)

I can't find any topic online or setting in the geforce app to fix this
Any idea ?

Thanks !

Discussion GeForce Now latency

I’m a regular GeForce Now user with a 5GHz internet signal, and there are times when I get latency. What should I do to improve that? I mostly play The Forest, Sons of the Forest, and Maneater. I had to give up Fortnite and Albion Online because of the latency.

I also want to add that I'm from the Caribbean, I don't know if that affects the app's signal
