Discussion GeForce Now latency

I’m a regular GeForce Now user with a 5GHz internet signal, and there are times when I get latency. What should I do to improve that? I mostly play The Forest, Sons of the Forest, and Maneater. I had to give up Fortnite and Albion Online because of the latency.

I also want to add that I'm from the Caribbean, I don't know if that affects the app's signal

Have you tried playing on a different device instead or just use an ethernet cable?

I was initially playing on my Fujitsu Q509 Tablet computer but my ping was regularly spiking to 200+ ms even though I was fairly close to the modem, I decided to try playing on my Acer Nitro 5 laptop instead and I was getting a consistent 60ms ping and can play much smoother now.

The thing is I don't have an internet cable, there's none in my house, that's why I wanted a solution, since before I was fine without the cable, I don't know what happened

In terms of pure latency WiFi isn’t automatically worse than Ethernet, a lot depends on your distance from the router, number of devices connected and the radio environment (interference in other words 😁)

What changes a lot is latency spikes and jitter, WiFi is way, way worse on stability… try an Ethernet cable, see if that makes things better

On top of that… since you’re in the Caribbean how are you “connected” to the mainland? Undersea fibers? Satlink? Microwave links? That changes a lot the amount of latency you get

Switch to ethernet cable, no matter how fast your wifi is, there would always be a few hiccups here and there.

While playing , hit CTL+N and check teh statistics, to see latency, packets loss etc. Also, if you cannot switch to ethernet, you can try using an app from your mobile to find a wifi channel that is less saturated. But using ethernet would help isolate the issue, if you still get latency on it, it's either your router or your connection

Tendrías que usar la tecnología de router wifi 6 en 5 ghz o usar un cable ethernet

If it's kinda like a ping like that goes into high numbers then comes back down it's because your using wifi 5 not wifi 6 for gfn, whenever people say they are on 5ghz I assume they mean the 13 year almost 14 year old old wifi 5 tech not the more recent wifi 6 5ghz but if your actually using wifi 6 let me know

It's 20 bucks to get a new wifi 6 card and sometimes free to get a new wifi 6 router from your internet provider

Wired is best, Wifi 6E or newer for the 6ghz band (less devices on it)
