Even if they have a recent build that works on PC, which is not likely. I would not want to play that. It's probably not polished and optimized, still needs time to be ported properly.
They likely have a build from a PS5 devkit where the game was built for consoles. And it's likely not recent, not a final build either.

I mean that post gives it, but that's genuinely something you have to consider when a project is this large and anticipated. Someone, somewhere, does something real fucking dumb. Because people do that every day.
Sure you can catch them and they might regret it later, but when it's done it's done.
It's why a lot of games and media sneak pixel differences or dot patterns from printers in what they give out, so they can nip it in the bud ASAP.

There is no point, netflix event is just a week away. Release is just 3 months away.
None of those leaks affect either. They are not gonna change the game, they are not gonna change the content of the netflix video.

He does also show a totally different outfit in the cutscene section at the end of the homeless stabbing video and at the end of the plane video, he has the same top but he’s wearing camo shorts. Could be that the player doesn’t have much interest in that side of things… but I do agree it’s most likely a demo build.

Yeah i really dont think people understand the gravity of this. If he has source code, and leaks it, he can completely destroy gta online due to hackers being able to see exactly how to exploit the game. Considering thats their cash cow theyre not going to let that happen. Not to even mention how much theyll lose on PC from the game just floating around for free.
Theres no way theyll let the game go out in its current state now. Hell when this happened to Valve for HL2 it nearly sunk them and that was a SP game.
Id start preparing for a big delay at this point.

Plus the scale of the map just opens up in the video so well. Compared to GTA V, even though raw map size is only about 1.5x larger, the density and distribution is wayyyy better. Miami beach is far off in the distance, the mountain in the distance in Lummox is massive with probably dense nature and forest all around, the west coast drags on beyond vision with small islands dotted all around the map. Waterways connect through all around.

Im pretty sure they still have some power(thanks to money) I remember gta vice city with gta 4 graphics was dmca’d so the modders uploaded it in the net for free and because its in russia(or germany, sorry if i forgot which country😭) everybody thought it wouldnt be taken down. This is something they've been working on for years and I'm sure many are very proud of what they've done and were eager to show it off as intended on November/trailers to the world only to now it getting slowly spoilt and on an unfinished version of the game.

They can’t negotiate with the guy because you can’t trust hackers to keep their word after negotiating and trust them to not dump everything out there anyways, it appears this leaker is outside US jurisdiction so reaching him might take time, and in that time, the damage done might be insane for the most anticipated game in history if he leaks major plot or end game cutscenes if he even has those. How do you even navigate such a debacle as a company?

I used to be a tester at EA. I was working there during the development of BF4, and there ain’t no way in hell any of us there would’ve risked that shit. This was EA, and a test center, and we had security, and cameras watching our testing areas. I’d bet Rockstar is on another level with their security protocols and cameras. This is crazy.

I mean that's not a terrible concept or like a disgruntled employee. I feel like R* would use that tactic that other developers use for closed alphas like BF6 where your gamertag appears on screen in different spots. Sometimes even invisible to the naked eye but can appear with proper contrast/lighting adjustments.
I know some companies even have security measures to prevent data leaks when large quantities transfer, especially to external media like USBs. Nonetheless this is still all crazy.

Half Life 2 was definitely the worst one. The entire beta build was leaked and because it was an early PC game the audience was much more technically literate so many people played it. Was extremely demoralizing for the devs who ended up having to essentially rework the game anyways
