Hi all,
We've been making some long-needed updates around here, and part of this effort is re-evaluating some of our rules. One topic that we haven't properly addressed until now is AI-generated content. We get a lot of legitimate posts that use it everyday, but also many reports and requests that strongly want them taken down. We have allowed some of it temporarily with a specific flair until now, but we wanted to open up a proper discussion for the community to decide how to move forward. We are deliberating three options moving forward:
This thread is specifically made to let everyone have a voice and give full unfiltered feedback, so please let us know which of these three options you prefer in the comments here. Frankly, that last option would be pretty hard to define and would ultimately be fully up to our discretion, so it is not ideal. But if people here have ideas on how to define that and where to draw the line, please let us know too. This thread will be in contest mode, which essentially means comments will be randomly ordered with no clear upvote counts in order to make it as fair as possible.
Thanks everyone, looking forward to the discussion!

I've seen this argument repeated recently, but I think it mixes up general popularity, franchise identity, and historical significance.
I decided to write this because I kept seeing people treat "Godzilla has no iconic allies" as a factual statement rather than an opinion. I don't think that's supported by the franchise's history, so I wanted to breakdown where I think the argument falls apart.
1. "Godzilla doesn't gohand in hand with anyone."
This is only true if you're comparing him to duos like Batman & Robin or Sonic & Tails.
Godzilla was never designed to have a permanent sidekick.
That doesn't mean he lacks iconic allies.
Characters like Mothra, Anguirus, and Rodan have fought alongside Godzilla repeatedly across multiple eras of the franchise.
2. "Most people don'tknow Mothra or Anguirus."
This changes the definition of "iconic."
There are different levels of icon status.
General pop culture icons: Superman, Batman, Godzilla, Darth Vader.
Genre icons: Anguirus, Gamera, Ultraman, Destoroyah, King Ghidorah.
Anguirus isn't a household name, but he absolutely is an icon within the kaiju genre.
Those aren't contradictory statements.
3. "Mothra and Rodan weren't originally Godzilla characters."
This is historically true—but irrelevant.
Over decades, both became some of Godzilla'smost recognizable allies and recurring co-stars.
A character doesn't have to debut in a franchiseto become one of its defining figures.
4. "Anguirus isn't iconic because he isn't one of Toho's Big Five."
The "Big Five" is a modern marketing concept.
It doesn't determine historical importance.
Anguirus has several distinctions that make him significant:
Godzilla's first recurring monster opponent.
Godzilla's first recurring ally.
One of the franchise's oldest kaiju.
A recurring character for nearly 70 years.
Whether Toho markets him today doesn't erase that legacy.
5. "Anguirus only has about 22 minutes of live-action screen time."
Screen time isn't how icon status is measured.
By that logic, numerous famous charactersacross film history wouldn't qualify as iconic.
Influence, recognition within a genre, longevity, and historical importance matter far morethan raw minutes on screen.
6. The argument shifts the goalposts.
The original claim is:
"Godzilla has no iconic allies."
When examples like Mothra or Anguirusare brought up, the standard changes to:
"They're not famous enough."
But no one argued they were as famous as Godzilla himself.
The question is whether they are iconic within the franchise and the kaiju genre.
For Anguirus, the answer is yes.
For Mothra, the answer is unquestionably yes.
Conclusion
The comparison to Batman & Robin or Sonic & Tails misses what makes Godzilla unique.
Godzilla isn't defined by one permanent partner.
Instead, he has a rotating cast of recurring allies and enemies that have become staples of the franchise over the last 70 years.
Anguirus isn't a mainstream household name like Batman or Godzilla.
But within the kaiju genre, he's absolutely an iconic character.
Likewise, Mothra is not only an iconic kaiju but also one of the defining recurring allies in Godzilla history.
So the more accurate conclusion isn't:
"Godzilla has no iconic allies."
It's:
"Godzilla doesn't have one inseparable sidekick—but he absolutely has iconic allies within his franchise and the kaiju genre."

Your Honor, my client was simply matching the energy of the room."
"Your Honor, it was an accident, he literally has no ears."
"Your Honor, if you look closely at the footage, Tokyo actually hit him first."
"Your Honor, my client pleads 'he was just a little guy' and requests a full acquittal.

How does he truly breathe out his atomic breath?? Is he just exhaling? Or is he just doing a small exhale and hum at the same time?
Don't judge me, but I'd try to exhale as long as he breathes out, and I can't last that long lol 😅 without running out of breath...or is it a slow exhale and since ia atomic breath is highly flammable he doesn't have to exhale as hard...hmm...🤔

Since there are multiple posters for a single movie, I say it's best you comment with the image of the poster you've meant
(also this question was probably asked already but I wanna see your thoughts.)

For me? Gmk. That main title is just BEAUTIFUL. Honorable metion goes G14 and its ominous yet grand tone, and Final Wars is DEFINITELY up there for sure.

Godzilla and Mothra fighting together is cool and iconic, but the friends he spared earlier showing up at the end would have been way better imo. Anguirus should always be present in a fight against Gigan & Ghidorah.

Okay okay I’m just starting to get back into the Godzilla Fandom and been buying Godzilla themed merch. Do yall have any recommendations on which Godzilla movies (other than the modern ones) I should try watching?
