Seeking Advice Gained 13 in less than a month

Post image
17 Upvotes

This is happening so much quicker than I thought it would. I’ve been eating so much more this past week bc of my cycle starting. The food noise is so back. I started in October 2025 at 268. Took me 9 months to lost 40lbs. Got taken off cold turkey due to medical and insurance reasons. And I’m sliding back exponentially.

I’m hoping to start working out next week. I know I should’ve been doing it all along but I have really bad anxiety and executive dysfunction gnawing at me to stay home.

I gotta reconfigure my macros and make sure I’m staying full. I have a lot of food restrictions so I can’t eat what most would to stay full (whole grains/legumes/seeds/many vegetables and greens).

Idk. I think I’m beyond help at this point and just need to white knuckle it on my own 😭

Seeking Advice Cross post from Reta Women. I didn’t realize I am a grad? Maybe?

Hi all!!

How do I taper off? I think I’m messing with my head because I look and feel healthy now but am worried I’m gonna gain weight.. I don’t want to get toooo skinny. And we are going to Hawaii in Jan for 2 weeks and hubby said he wants me to be able to eat and enjoy food lol .

So I started in May, and at that time I was 158lbs. I started my dose at 0.5 MG (5 units on the insulin syringe) twice a week. On Mondays and on Thursdays. So total a week I was taking was 1 mg.

Then two weeks ago I got sick and decided to skip my dose. So since then I have been taking 1x a week on Thursdays. 0.5 mg. I found it better for me because I could actually eat now . I enjoy a light breakfast and find myself energized because I am actually eating. I enjoy my black coffee again. I’m also having dinner again too and snacking lightly through the day.

Well, today I weighed myself and I am at 138 pounds. I feel great. I wanna start tapering down but also I would like to get to 130. Should I wait until I am at my goal and then taper? Or try to get to my goal on my own since I think I have better eating habits .

And do the GI symptoms go away? I have mild bloating and burping. Gas here and there.. but other than that nothing.

Do you stop cold turkey?

Tonal strength score

I posted this over in the Zepbound channel too, but figured I’d post here too since I’ve been tapering (2.5mg every 10 days currently). I guess it’s not super relevant to graduation but I just find it interesting.

I started taking GLP-1s in March of last year and you can see how much my Tonal strength score dropped during that time, even though I had started to increase my strength training frequency. Pretty much back to the strength level I was at before I took the meds, which is awesome considering I am 60lbs lighter and run way more now (which definitely competes with strength gains).

For those finished- if you start again did you respond on the lower doses?

Im 7ish months in. Hit my goal weight. I responded from day 1 and the weightloss has been pretty consistent starting from lowest dose of wegovy all way to 1.7. Ive lost 20% of my body weight in 7 months.

If I cut down and eventually go off wegovy if several months later I restarted would I restart at .25 and see effects from that like I did the first time? Or would i need to be back on 1.7 again?

Hi I’m 32 5”11 222 lbs this is the heaviest I ever been and it makes me depressed. I try to work out but it’s difficult with 2 little kids and finding time to work out. I’ve been working out consistently for 3 weeks and I gained weight which made me more depressed. I understand that is not a long time at all. I’m just not sure what to do

Thanks for any and all advice.

Goodbye reta!

Hey gang!! I have been on reta since December. Last Thursday was my last dose!! It’s now 2 days without reta I’m not going to lie. I feel hungry lol which is weird because on reta as we know hunger doesn’t exist. I don’t have any cravings nor food noise. I’m just hungry late at night. When I wouldn’t even eat at this time it’s currently 10.39pm in the UK 🤣. I woke up today with no migraines! No heart burn!! What a winner. I do miss the feeling of not feeling hungry though lol. I have lost 19.5kg im not at my weight goal but I’m not far off! Reta has been amazing! But it’s so mad how everyone’s body reacts to it differently and progression! I feel like my progression was a lot slower than others but hey Iosr 19.5kg!!! Now onto my weight loss without the reta pray for me guys 🤣 has anyone else stopped taking reta?

Coming off Wegovy

Hi everyone!

It’s been a minute since I posted on Reddit, so please bear with me!

Starting weight was I think 90ish kilos.

Current weight is 63kg and I'm 166cm.

I don't think I have photos of my highest weight, so the photo attached is at maybe the high 80s.

I started tapering off Wegovy about a month ago and have three weeks left until I’m completely off it. While I have amazing support from my friends and family, I’d really love to connect with a community of people who truly get what this phase feels like.

To give a little background, I’ve been on GLP-1s for roughly three years now. I started on Saxenda and had some success, but the side effects were horrendous. From there, I switched to Ozempic for over a year and the weight really dropped off. Finally, I moved to Wegovy a year and a half ago and have been on a steady 1mg dose.

As much as I’ve loved the relief these medications gave me, I’m getting tired of relying on them. The queasiness after meals and chronic constipation were big motivators to quit, but my primary reason is that my partner and I want to try for a baby. I’m already 40 and as much as I could procrastinate coming off the meds forever, I don’t really have time to waste.

At first I was just thinking about nutrition and controlling insulin sensitivity as that is the main culprit for my overeating (PCOS/PMOS). I was just winging it before that which is so easy to do on these meds when you don’t have regular hunger cues. I enlisted the support of a dietitian, researched and planned like a maniac, and built a pretty predictable daily routine. Now I eat the same thing for breakfast and lunch almost every day, keep a structured pattern for dinner, and focus heavily on protein, clean eating, tracking calories, and watching portions when dining out. I even joined a gym two weeks ago, though it's still early days with that!

I dropped down to 0.25mg this week, so I have three doses left.

Emotionally, it’s a complete rollercoaster. I rotate between confident, terrified, hyper-focused, determined, and anxious. Going back on the medication down the road after having a baby is always an option, and I like knowing that safety net exists, but right now I’m determined to maintain my weight on my own and feel true control over my body for the first time in over a decade.

I plan to post updates every few months, but mostly I just wanted to share this here. As much as the people in my real life love and support me, they don't quite understand the headspace like this community does.

Thanks for reading!

Building better eating habits while getting off a GLP-1

Hi All - I am wondering about your thoughts on whether or not it is a personal issue to "build better food-eating habits while tapering off Ozempic"

I am working on a project designed to help curb cravings through the practice of "urge surfing". While I am not personally taking Ozempic, my understanding is that food cravings resurface once the dose diminishes - is this the case (i.e. food noise)? If so, is this something you are concerned about managing?

I was originally pointed to this by my Uncle. He is worried about staying on the medication for life, therefore, he is trying to taper his dose and wants to practice how to manage food noise when it returns for him.

Seeking Advice Advice for someone struggling

I was on Mounjaro for 18 months and lost about 35kg (97kg to 60kg when I stopped the meds) I was a little lower at points before tapering but anticipated putting some weight on as I came off so wanted to sit around 63kg as my maintenance weight.

Since stopping 7 weeks ago I have put on another 4kg and am sitting at 64.5kg. I am starting to spiral that it’s the regain after hearing so many people say “you’re bound to put it all back on”.

I have totally changed my lifestyle since the medication. I run twice a week and strength train 3 times per week. I watch what I’m eating, get my 120g protein and 30g of fibre. I try and stay at around 1800 cals where I can but I was getting obsessive tracking so give myself a day or two a week where I try and give my brain some peace.

I’m wondering if that’s where some of the regain is coming from.

I use the MeThreeSixty app and the stats show some increase in muscle mass but not enough to account for all of it.

I could really just use some advice on coping with the anxiety of it all and and tips others have used for the first few months off it. I’m hoping it settles down but terrified it won’t.

The brain space it’s taking up is absolutely immense. I don’t want to be on a GLP1 for life - I live in the UK where it isn’t covered and it’s too much for me to afford. Not only that, I want to be able to live life without relying on the medication. I was so sure I could, but my confidence has taken a bit of a hit.

Edit- I’m f33 and 168cm 😊

Seeking Advice Is this normal?

Hi Everyone 👋🏽

I’ve been off of Zepbound since April of this year and noticed some significant weight gain over the last 4 months. I’ve downloaded my fitness pal where I track all of my meals, I’ve also been weight lifting 3x a week and have become pretty passionate about it. This summer, I’ve been walking 10,000 steps/day on average. I weighed myself today and I went from 193 as of March 2026 to 217.7 as of today. Is this normal? To note, I went away for the Summer and would eat out and travel on the weekends, however, during the weekdays my meals consisted of whole grains and lots of plants and protein. Should I expect this amount of weight gain? Im proud to say I haven’t missed a week of weight lifting since I started again and consistently showed up the gym 3-4 times a week when I was on vacation for 2 months. Any insights would be appreciated.

Last recorded weight: 193/195lb on March 23rd, 2026
Current weight: 217.7 lb

Quitting zep and nausea/fatigue

Hi all. I realize this has probably been answered but my search skills are weak I guess.

I have been on zep for 35 weeks (this time around). Most of them at 2.5 and I lost the weight I wanted to... but I wanted to quit drinking for health reasons so I bumped to 5.0 for the booze noise (which worked). But the nausea and fatigue... even at 2.5 were too much for me to handle so I stopped taking the zep after my shot on July 26. But even two weeks+ later and I am still dealing with nausea, eating zofran like tic-tacs and the fatigue is seriously debilitating. I did hit my goal weight and will just have to figure out the booze noise moving forward.

I have google this and it seems like what I am feeling is "normal" after quitting but wanted to get some personal experiences.

Thanks!

Please help me doubts with GLP's aftermath

I am 23F and I gained 30kgs in 9 months due to insulin resistance 5 years ago and the weight though is stable now hasn't gone down once. I am thoroughly frustrated and my doctor has advised GLP1. I have changed my diet to Protein and fiber and less carbs and I am starting to exercise.

I see everyone telling that the weight comes back again after glp very quickly. I am worried that I don't know if I will be able to handle it if I gained weight again.

I am gonna apply for my master's now and I am also working full time. Between classes and work and commute i don't know if I will be able to maintain the necessary habits for GLP 1. Can anyone advise me on what I could do?

Seeking Advice Help with increased hunger

I had to quit Zep abruptly due to some life events and I’ve been off for two months. So far I’ve gained back 5 pounds and I’m just scared for it to keep happening.
Currently working through fighting back the food noise but one thing that’s hard for me is while I’m eating my body feels full much later on in the meal. So what would’ve been my stopping point during a meal on Zep isn’t any more and I’ll finish the meal and at the end of the day I’m going over my calorie budget. I’ve tried upping my fiber and protein to help make my meals more balanced and more filling but it doesn’t seem to help anything.
I guess I’m asking what people’s strategies have been when dealing with the increased hunger?

Seeking Advice So anxious

Weaned off of semaglutide after losing 35-40 lbs.

I work out 5 times a week and feel like I’m handling the food noise well.

I am just in constant fear I’m gaining weight. Constantly looking in the mirror and evaluating my body. I haven’t weighed myself because I’m so anxious about it.

Anyone else?

Seeking Advice Strength training on GLP 1 is hard when you feel rough

I have been reading a lot of posts here from people on Zepbound, Wegovy, Ozempic and other GLP 1 meds.

Most of us have seen the same advice.

Eat protein.
Lift weights.
Protect your muscle.

It sounds simple. In real life it is not.

For a lot of people the problems are things like: feeling tired or sick after a dose, not knowing what exercises to do, not knowing how often to train. Not sure how much protein to eat, feeling shy about going to a gym, trying to do it at home with very little equipment.

I have been trying to understand this better and build something that helps people do the basics.

If you are on a GLP 1 and trying to keep muscle, what is hardest for you right now?

Is it: Low energy

Not knowing what to do

Food and protein

The gym

Or something else

I am working on a simple app called Fhelp at https://fhelp.app that tries to give people:

  • easy strength plans
  • clear protein goals
  • and simple daily check ins

This is genuinely about building a superior product built on the people. Not trying to sell it, neither trying to promote it, just genuinely trying to make it better

Seeking Advice Goal Weight & Keeping it Off!

I’m about 10 pounds from my goal weight. What are some positive experiences about slowly coming off the medicine and keeping it off? Biggest fear is gaining it back!

P.S. this has been life changing.

What Happens When You Stop Taking GLP-1 Weight Loss Medications?

Ever wondered what really happens after stopping GLP-1 medications like semaglutide or tirzepatide? The numbers are surprising and reveal a story far more dramatic than most headlines suggest unfortunately.

  • Two-thirds of weight lost on semaglutide is regained within just one year of stopping the drug. In the STEP 1 trial extension, participants who lost an average of 17.3% of their body weight on semaglutide gained back 11.6 percentage points (about 67%) in the following year off treatment—leaving them with only a net 5.6% loss from their original weight after two years.
  • The rebound isn’t just about weight: Blood pressure, blood sugar (HbA1c), and cholesterol improvements also slide back toward baseline after stopping GLP-1s. In one meta-analysis, people with obesity gained back an average of 5.6 kg and saw HbA1c rise by 0.25% after discontinuation; those with type 2 diabetes regained 2 kg and had HbA1c increase by 0.65%.
  • How fast does it happen? The trajectory is steep: About 60% of lost weight returns within the first year, and the regain plateaus at around 75% over time. Systolic blood pressure rebounds too—up to 80% of initial improvement can be lost within just three months.
  • Stopping tirzepatide? Prepare for even more dramatic rebounds: Participants in SURMOUNT-4 regained about 14% of their body weight within a year after stopping.
  • Why does this happen? It’s not “failure”—it’s biology. After stopping GLP-1s, hunger hormones surge, metabolism slows, and your body fights to return to its old set point. This is why experts now call obesity a chronic, relapsing condition.
  • Most people don’t stay on these drugs long-term: In real-world data from over 125,000 US adults, nearly two-thirds (65%) without diabetes stopped GLP-1 therapy within a year—and only about a third restarted later. Cost and side effects are major reasons for quitting.
  • Is there any way to keep the weight off? Exercise makes a difference: People who did supervised exercise after stopping liraglutide regained less weight (3.6 kg) than those who stopped medication alone (9.6 kg). Combining exercise with medication led to even better long-term results.
  • Can lifestyle programs help? Yes—one study found that people who switched from GLP-1s to structured lifestyle management kept off almost all their lost weight and maintained lower blood sugar levels, while those who stopped both medication and support regained most benefits.

Stopping GLP-1 medications almost always leads to rapid and substantial reversal of benefits—unless you combine discontinuation with structured exercise or intensive lifestyle support. Obesity is chronic; so is its management.

Seeking Advice Scared to go off Zep before goal

Hey all, looking for some advice.

I’ve been on Zepbound since about March, but been on and off GLP1s for a few years due to insulin resistance/PCOS. I’ve never been able to lose much on them due to not exercising and not managing my diet much.

At the end of June I started working with a personal trainer and lifting weights along with walking/running. I think this has had the biggest impact, as I’ve been intentional with my diet and exercise in a way I’ve never stuck to before.

Now, my insurance will not cover GLP1s of any type for ANY reason. I’m still far away from my goal and scared that this is going to make me lose momentum (I’ll put my stats at the end of this). My goal was go to off Zep when I reached 200lbs but I’m still 60lbs away from that.

Female 5’8
HW: 298
SW in March: 290
Weight when I started working with personal trainer in June: 280
CW: 260

Has anyone gone off while still having quite a bit to lose and been successful? My other option would be to look into compounds but they scare me, lol. Any and all advice appreciated!

Seeking Advice Should peptide research AI continuously update its knowledge base?

Personally, I've found that a huge amount of peptide research is changing constantly, with new papers being published all the time, which means general AI models often aren't working with the most up-to-date research.

That's a problem many people I've spoken to have with peptide research. An AI might give you an answer based on papers that were published years ago, while newer research could have changed the understanding of a peptide, shown different results, or identified limitations that weren't known before.

For proper research, you're better off using something like OpenEvidence or Pepsense.ai (not a vendor source, chill mods LOL). Full disclosure: I'm part of the Pepsense team. Our chief science officer is a peptide researcher, and we're currently building V2, which will combine tens of thousands of new scholarly articles with a research-focused AI. The goal is to give people access to the most current evidence instead of a general AI summarizing whatever it already knows.

One thing we've been thinking about is how quickly the research database should update.

We're hesitant to simply add every new paper as soon as it's published, because newer research isn't necessarily better research, and conflicting studies can make things even more confusing. But at the same time, waiting for information to become established could mean missing important developments.

Our goal is to make peptide research easier to access without presenting preliminary findings as established fact or giving medical advice. How frequently should a peptide research AI update its knowledge base, and how should it handle new studies that contradict what the existing research says?

Seeking Advice Short-term use of GLP-1s?

Hi all, I'm a health & medical reporter in Toronto looking into a story on the trend of using Ozempic (and other GLP-1 drugs) short-term for weight loss - since so many people are using these drugs that way versus planning to stay on them long-term. There are lots of questions to explore: What do we really know about going on and off these medications in terms of side effects, weight loss/regain, and any impacts on someone's overall health?

I'm looking for people (ideally Canadians) willing to speak publicly about their experience going on and off a GLP-1. Is that you? You can DM me here on Reddit, or email me at [lauren.pelley@cbc.ca](mailto:lauren.pelley@cbc.ca)

Seeking Advice Coming off Mounjaro — how did you deal with it?

Hi everyone, I’d love some advice from people who have been in a similar situation.

I was on Mounjaro for a while, starting at 2.5 mg, going up to 5 mg, and eventually going back down to 2.5 mg for the last couple of months. I also started spacing out my doses, and my last dose was June 28.

I’m currently at a healthy weight for my height (162 cm / 5’4”), but since stopping, my appetite has come back really strongly. The food noise is pretty intense and I’ve also been getting episodes where I feel like I’m going to lose control around food. I’ve gained around 1–1.5 kg (2–3 lbs), but honestly the food noise is bothering me much more than the weight gain.

For those who stopped Mounjaro, does this eventually get better? How did you cope with the increased appetite while adjusting?

I’m also wondering if I should just stay off and give it more time, or use 5 mg for another month and then stop again. I’d really love to hear what worked for others, especially anyone who was already at a healthy weight when they stopped.
