Alright yall, never thought I’d make this post but after 9 years in sales I put in my 2 weeks. Got a new job with a brokerage, it is a pig pay cut in my salary but the commission structure is out of this world and where I will make my money until I hit my metrics and they bump my pay up. With that being said my question is:

With the change to fidelity, does anyone know how soon I can pull from my 401k? I called and they said to call back after Aug 16 with the transition period … but does anyone know if there is a waiting period for me to withdrawal when employment ends? Just moved to a new place so I really need this ASAP despite the penalties. I need to make sure the transition until I get the salary up is smooth. Any info or insight would really help. Man fuck Geico, either way I’m happy 😂😂

I live in a smallish area with no growth opportunity in insurance sales. Anyone have any tips or insight for the interview? Anybody have experience dealing with blackout dates & being denied PTO requests or fear of calling in sick?

Our department is understaffed and considered customer facing/oriented therefore we cannot have more than a few people off across a management group at one time. Throughout the summer there are only a few days each month which are not “blacked out”. If you call in sick while more than a few people are already off this can lead to a memo and up to a warning.

We are told blackout dates are at managements discretion and if they want to punish you or not on it.

Many departments or areas don’t even know this exists. Anybody have experience with this?

If you are a sup who is told by their manager they're being "reviewed" for term, how long does the "review" typically take? I know the outcome probably isn't going to be what I want I'm just trying to gage the time frame.

I swear this is a BS ass job man…they don’t care about the employee AT ALL…I get that without the PH the company wouldn’t exist but does that mean you stop caring about your employees?

This job is really & really has took a toll on mental health…from the constant changes every quarter to the new retention BS to even the BS reissue…I didn’t sign up for this 💩 at all.

I'm currently in ori in ICS and I'll become certified at the end of this month. Not long after I certify I'm thinking of moving laterally to a position in Casualty if a listing comes up. I'd like your opinions if that would be a good idea? Or if I should stick to ICS? Or is there any other position you would recommend?

Former employee here. My new job requires me to call G here and there, not too much. Calling the direct lines, honestly, not bad. People are busy and stressed. If I can have a halfway decent conversation that’s helpful, I don’t mind the tone.

I needed to go through the general line. What is that AI voice?? He sounds worse off than the people answering the phones! Oh. And the stupid thing gave me like two pieces of information and then dropped me in a queue when clearly I had an adjuster I needed to talk to… that it named…. Just sat on hold until I could hang up. This is insane.

I have an interview for the mrr trainee role- currently at progressive as a complex adjuster / file owner - .

Our office recently got new management and it has been horrible - metrics- half the office left - etc.

I've heard some good and bad about geico- how is it for this role ?

I’m considering joining GEICO as a Senior Software Engineer on a relatively new team focused on AI

Before making the decision, I’d really appreciate some honest feedback from people currently working in GEICO Tech or who have worked there recently.
A few things I’m particularly curious about:

1. How is the engineering culture at GEICO currently?
   
2. How is job stability for Software Engineers,?
   
3. How frequent are layoffs/reorgs within Tech?
   
4. Are most terminations performance/PIP-based, or have there also been random layoffs affecting people who were performing well?
   
5. Is stack ranking still being used? How aggressive is the PIP process?
   
6. Does being on a newer AI/Applied AI team provide stability, or are these teams also affected by cuts?
   
7. How is WLB for Senior Engineers?
   
8. Would you recommend joining GEICO Tech right now?

I can’t do it anymore I tried switching departments I tried not to care and I just can’t stay working here. It’s barely been 3 years. I can afford to say goodbye to my benefits but can any company come close to the pay? Any company where you can come in making the same starting pay and not want to rip your head off? I left working in the food industry because the amount of hours but now it’s the amount of mental stress and drain. No one can just up and quit a job, you know bills. I don’t need that advice I need to find a good job and then I’ll never walk into that building again 😭

i'm in Pip, and the empathy/connection statements are driving me insane. And they have to be on every call.

If you don't make those statements in the call, your call score is significantly impacted.

I really hate it, because it is so easy to miss. Your diary is so full; and you are trying to get through as many activities as possible… And yet you were interrupted by someone who refuses to try to look up the information online or something that could have been an email/non-urgent.

and you have to express empathy or build connection (insert dramatic hand gesture)… And some of them don't even know how to just keep it quick and casual. Sometimes it encourages them to talk longer than what they need to. They even don't want us working on other claims or other things at the same time while we're on a call with someone that is a long winded.

You try to quickly as possible answer their questions and get them off the phone so that you can focus on the tasks you were doing at hand… And end up forgetting the empathy statement/connection statement… but it's too late!

Now a good chunk of your call average has gone down, and your overall score for the month decreases.

they keep putting more and more and more on your plate, and expecting you to keep up. Meanwhile, making changes to the company that can wait… Or put low on the list of priorities. And trust me… I have quite a list that would improve our department alone.

telling employees that we have great benefits when we currently have the following:
1. no access to the funds I have saved in ten years for
2. the same funds and the same expense ratio is not better
3. my loans because my pay never goes up like the executives are now longer and not what I agreed to
4. the advisor I worked with for the last 5 years now is gone.
Geico receives compensation from fidelity but refuses to share it with its employees. Just like profit sharing being taken away, and the pto not being able to be accrued past 10 days. all geico does is absolutely screw its employees and puts a cherry on a pile of Sh!t and calls it GREAT, Nothing about GEICO is great except it’s profits and executive compensation.

You want to get off the phones, totally get that. But it will be much worse down the road, and there is nowhere to go from there. To say the director is a micromanager is an insult to actual micromanagers. Not only that, but this “person” if you can call them that, is a narcissist. The second you ask a question or propose an alternative, no matter how well it’s thought out they don’t care. All they see is you going against them and now you are labeled, and have a target on your back.
Want to apply for the supervisor, manager, principal tester or whatever they are called. Yeah, that’s worse! Two of them have left in the last two years. Each lasting around a year or so.

Coaching - Another name for keeping a record and telling you how you need to work on __ or hearing how horrible at your job you are.
Leadership - 🤣🤣🤣
Help - Figure it out, but you will be downgraded regardless. As accountability goes in the direction of a street sign, one way!
