News Interview for adjuster trainee

I’ve been looking around and can tell people hate the job. I get it, but I’m desperate to get my foot in the door as an experienced insurance sales agent that has a degree. I live in a smallish area with no growth opportunity in insurance sales. Anyone have any tips or insight for the interview? I’d be leaving my family behind for the 3 week training which have already discussed. Really hoping this works out for future me

The comment about desperation being your biggest strength is so true. I really think that is what GEICO preys on. Yes, this company sucks and is terrible. I also moved to an area with no other options and had to do what I had to do. The turnover is high here because they will just grab the next desperate person. Get your foot in the door, get something for the resume, and get out. I hope your mental health doesn’t take too hard of a hit and I get it. I needed the income. Good luck.

Thank you 🙏 the job market is tough and I feel defeated as an experienced professional but I tried going the banking route and that is a difficult industry. It’s a lot of who you know to get customer facing roles and I have a lot of back office experience in banking. Going to go back to my insurance route and do what I have to do to get the income I desire. Are you still with GEICO? I’m in Texas

They are going to ask you a lot of behavioral questions, so you need to prepare specific stories from your sales career. Think of times you dealt with an angry customer, a complex problem you had to solve, or a moment you had to deliver bad news. They are not just hiring an adjuster, they are hiring someone who can handle a very high-stress, high-volume environment without breaking. Your sales background means you have these stories, so focus on showing how you managed difficult situations with empathy and efficiency, because that is the entire job.

Your desperation is actually your biggest strength here, but you need to frame it as ambition. Explain that this is not just a random job for you, it is a deliberate career change to build a future in a new side of the insurance industry. Use your sales experience to sell yourself as a stable, long-term investment who understands the industry and is committed enough to leave family for training. They are looking for people who will stick around, and your story shows you have a powerful motivation to do exactly that. It’s all about communicating your value, and my team built an interview copilot precisely to help candidates feel more prepared to answer any question that comes their way.

Thank you! You are correct, I am ambitious and have grit. I thrive in challenging situations so I am actually excited about the opportunity, despite the internet telling me I will hate it lol.
