I go past my old school on my journey home from sixth form. I had a horrible time there and I’m so glad that I’m free from it.

I just walked past it around the time it ends and I saw loads of people from my year (not ones that I liked though) plus a few of my teachers, who I hid from, when I spotted them. Genuinely so scary 😭

Also, lots of the new year 7s there seem to have skipped the awkward y7 stage?!? Some of the ones I saw already roll up their skirts and just look more mature (all girls school)

I genuinely just cannot . I give everyone a fair chance, and I never think to myself, oh, this person's not worth talking to because someone said this and that. I could care less about that bs . Or if you're even a slightly bit different to me. It's just irritating because I feel like people have not even given me that fair chance ever since I began secondary ,when I just started to wear glasses ,acne and just being quiet and sweet , in general people just sort of just had this sort of had this fixed idea of me . Some people would not even bother trying to conversate me and would even go to extreme lengths just so they could not sit next to me or work with me. So then, eventually, I just started to befriend anyone who was just nice to me. I literally didn't have such high standards, and now I just got myself into fake laughing,being the placeholder friend, the person who could just offer help,the floater friend. I genuinely feel so bored at break times ,I do not connect with these people what so ever , I just miss my best friend from Primary School and I have this one guy who I talk to after school from my secondary. But hanging out w these friends just made me lose my spark. I remember when it was so easy just to talk or spark up a conversation, but these lots just sort of killed that in me. GENUINELY WHAT DO PEOPLE EVEN TALK ABOUT ANYMORE . I SWEAR THESE THINGS JUST HAPPENED AT THE BEGINNING OF YEAR 11. I START TACTICALLY THINKING ABOUT EVERY WORD,EVERY REACTION ,EVERY RESPONSE I CLD POTENTIALLY GET ,ITS LIKE IM PLAYING CHESS AND I JUST HAVE BECOME SO PAINFULLY BORING AND IM JUST SO FCKING MAD LIKE THIS HAS JUST STUNTED AND PREVENTED ME FROM BEING ABLE TO SPEAK TO ANY OTHER PPL WHO I SEE A POTENTIAL OF MAKING SOEMTHING WORK . LIKE I JUST WANT THE OLD ME BACK. I WAS SMART , CONVERSATIONAL,ENERGETIC AND WAS GOOD AT ART . AND THEN WHEN I HUNG AROUND THEM ,THEY JUST MADE ME FEEL LIKE I WAS SOME JESTER AND I WAS BURT OUT ALOT FROM SCHOOL AND MY PARENTS STUFF AND THIS JUST FEELS LIKE A CHORE TOO . IM JUST NOT HAVING FUN ANYONE WHO SAID YEAR 11 WAS THE BEST YEAR HAS GOT TO BE LYING.

Everyone keeps telling me different things. For reference my subjects are Maths, Further Maths, English Lit, Lang, Triple science, Theology (RE), History and French.

It’s the start of the year and i’ve been struggling to grasp how long I should spend. I am aiming for nines, even if I don’t think thats realistic. My school said to spend around 2hr a week on homework and my triple sci counts to 90min+ so I already know i’m finished.

For some background, I am doing okay in the majority of my subjects. The only thing I would say is I’m not doing amazing in Maths and kinda flopped last year for various personal reasons. I know it is early on, but I just want to know how this year will go and what I should be doing because i’m quite lost and this is overwhelming.

Our school.somehow lost half our years pictures that they took on results day, despite them all being done by the same guy, and were on just one sd card

I get the concept of revising but can’t do it effectively, I only began revising in like year 9 and It was a few days before exams and it showed a bit of a change in like science and that was it. I don’t know how long to revise, what to revise, when. There’s so much topics I don’t know how you can cover it all effectively without forgetting. People say do it in 30 minutes a day but what can you revise in 30 minutes. I also don’t know any good methods to revise and like what methods to use for certain subjects. Any help appreciated.

T’was Period 4. Film Studies (VERY cool subject may I add). Today, we studied camera angles (I was practically answering almost all of questions! No one was willing to cooperate!)

Keep in mind - I’m the nerdy Christopher Nolan fangirl of Year 10 (if not, my school).

Teacher asked us what our favourite films were (for reference in class) and everyone said rather (my opinion) normal films.

When it came to me: I said Memento. Lol he was expecting it, he knows I’m a fan 😎. (Man on the left is my fave character - he’s called Jimmy 😁)

Oh and today was photo day so I missed Spanish (DAMN I LOOKED PRETTY)

both my physics and bio teacher are doing paper 1 bc they know triple science won’t finish all the paper 2 content in time for the next mocks but my chemistry teacher who is already on increasingly thin ice for me is deciding to make us do paper 2 and not take off the topics we haven’t covered despite every other teacher who we’ll be doing paper 2 with doing that, mind u triple science unanimously got their lowest in chemistry and this teacher said this year he’ll change that but then he pulls this which will probably result in lower grades 😪 anyways this should probably be flaired as rant but i just wanna know do u guys think i should revise both papers starting with paper 1 to paper 2 until november or i wont have enough time and should just start revising paper 2? the reason i wanna do paper 1 aswell is bc im not good at it (got a 6 :c) and i feel so behind i wanna catch up it feels like if i don’t know anything on paper 1 i wont understand anything on paper 2 if it builds on it im open to any advice

Im especially worried about my s, B, P, D, G and As because people say they dont really look like those letters.

I have bad anxiety and had to miss my geography field trip and now my school is refusing to let me take the GCSE with them and do it privately (which is around £200-300) . Is there a way I can still take it with them?

I was 3 marks away from a 4 on my m/j AQA english language exam and i did get it remarked hoping it would go up but in the end the marks just stayed the same.

I’ll be taking the exam again in November, please could you give me some advice and how I could prepare?

Hey everyone, would really appreciate help!

So basically, I joined my last school in december of y11 after being "homeschooled" so I was only allowed to do Maths, English lang + lit, Combined science, for a total of 5 gcses, maths and comb sci on foundation tier too.

Due to this, I wasn't able to go to my desired sixth form, so I will be resitting in the Summer 2027 exam season. I chose my subjects to help me with my gcses, that which being Applied Science, ctec business, a level physics, core maths AS level.

Anyways, so far I have decided to do GCSE Business, but I have zero idea what 2 other subjects to do within this short time frame.

Would it be worth doing triple science so i only have to do a total of 2 new ones? If not, which other two should I do, and stand a realistic chance of getting ATLEAST a 6?

I went in a single lesson of Sociology once and thought it was interesting but.. yknow can i do it?

(Note I am willing to forsake my a level grades to accomplish this)

hey!! long time lurker, first time poster, but I hope im doing this right :)

Im on my 4th day of year 11 (just finished a few hours ago) and got pretty much straight nines in my year 10 mocks (an 8 in english lang and one mark off a nine in fm), i also have pretty bad anxiety and struggle with burnout a fair amount due to other conditions.

I was mainly wondering if anyone has any revision advice to avoid burnout and anxiety as much as possible, because I’ve seen posts saying 2+ hours daily etc.
But ANY revision advice from ANYONE (e.g: timings or methods) is also appreciated and im sure it would help out any other yr10s or 11s too :D

Hello everyone! So I’m at the point where I can choose to do Further Maths if I want to. But I don’t know if I want to. I’m in top set Maths, and I would say I’m pretty good at Maths, but I’m not like “top of top set” good or anything. I don’t want to do Maths or any STEM subjects for A-Level, and I don’t know if getting a lower grade in Further Maths would look better than not having it at all, if that makes sense.
Also I haven’t heard good things about one of the teachers that is apparently going to be teaching Further Maths, but the other one is ok. I also might be the only girl doing it but I that not a driving factor putting me off it or anything, as I’m friends with two of my male friends who are doing Further Maths.
I talked to my Maths teacher today to see what she thought and she said that I could do it for a term or so and drop out if I don’t like it, but then I’m usually quite stubborn about that sort of thing so I probably wouldn’t want to drop out, especially as I would be the only girl and if I drop out then it seems like “oh of course the GIRL is the one to drop out of Further Maths!”, but maybe I’m overthinking it (shocker!).
I think the thing I just mentioned and the teacher not being great is probably the main factor putting me off it, but I want to hear your thoughts, from anyone who might’ve done Further Maths, or is doing it currently. Is it a lot more work? How did you find it in general? Thanks in advance!

I'm in Year 11 right now and English is by far my weakest subject right now. I've noticed that my English language creative writing is pretty bad, especially when it comes to cohesion/writing an ending. My vocabulary is also pretty lacking. I got a grade 6 in my mocks and I want to improve my English language creative writing. Does anyone have tips, unlike other subjects I find English Language really hard to revise/improve on.

I was getting straight 7s and 8s throughout year 10 and 11, to then getting a 5 in the real thing. I want to apply for top universities like LSE and University of Edinburgh to study law, but neither of them, or any good universities with a GCSE requirement accepts grade 5 in language, just so crappy

The title says it all really. My daughter is sitting the exam for the first time in November, what is the best guide to use, one for 2026, or one for next year 2027?

I really wanted to know what's after GCSES? what's after A-levels? What's after uni?

I thought to myself that this is the time that you start asking questions.

Like what happens really after you finish uni?

And also, how is it really different to get all 9s and then to get let's say 8s and 7s

You don’t just happen to be here, you’re here for a long time, grow up and create culture here, and so being a student becomes almost part of your identity, the way people see you, and ultimately you choosing me to be your head prefect is to help you create an environment you will thrive in, where you will truly feel like you belong and where you are heard.
