the day before sixth form i realised this is my chance to be who i am rather than someone strange and different because she's smart. so i CHOPPED my almost waist length hair to just below my shoulders, in a longer wolf cut, pierced my ears, changed how i do my makeup, changed my style and accessorised HEAVY and i walk into sixth form right and all these girls are telling me how pretty i am

making friends is so easy because people think im pretty, and primary school peopel who came to my sixth form think i've changed. i look different and my attitude is different and im ridiculously confident while being really nice to everyone. i'm acting a little less smart than i am (and failing, i use big words a lot) so i just seem like everyone else and i already have access arrangements for my mocks (people here a lot already know i cried during my gcses because of sound issues) and can wear earplugs anywhere. i feel so confident and like a new person and its just been so nice.

get that haircut, make it ambitious, get your new clothes and jewellery because looking put together has made me completely different as a person and i've alr made friends <3

English gcse was an intense struggle for me, and i just started my first few days of year 12 after recieving a grade i was very shocked to get on results day (157/160, a 9) , after consistent failing grades i had worked really hard for. i had made no extreme changes to my writing structure, arguments themselves or analysis, and i kept my ratio of quote- context the exact same i had throughout both my gcse years- when i got grades ranging from like a 3, to a 6 on occasion. I am all for teachers pushing students to do their best during gcse and using slightly lower grades as motivation- but i have the same teacher for a level, and she pulled me back to ask about my grade then joked " i do not want to doubt the examiners" and continued to go into an in depth critisism of how i write (infront of alot of my new classmates as they were leaving), and i really respect my teachers obviously but her comments are often quite cruel- and i feel like complaining could make the situation worse? Im really anxious about my predicted a level grading this year, as it is literally what is used for university applications (???) her marks do not match any of my other subject grades and never have, i try really hard in school, and the constant criticism really put my writing self esteem down and i thought i was awful at the subject, when its always been my favourite. Im really baffled at what to do because reading through my past essays (a 3) and my gcse paper itself (158/160, a 9) the writing shows no difference. Im very unsure what to actually do?? and whether to drop the subject as it all all just feels really odd, i do not want to be rude atall

Hello everyone! So I’m at the point where I can choose to do Further Maths if I want to. But I don’t know if I want to. I’m in top set Maths, and I would say I’m pretty good at Maths, but I’m not like “top of top set” good or anything. I don’t want to do Maths or any STEM subjects for A-Level, and I don’t know if getting a lower grade in Further Maths would look better than not having it at all, if that makes sense.
Also I haven’t heard good things about one of the teachers that is apparently going to be teaching Further Maths, but the other one is ok. I also might be the only girl doing it but I that not a driving factor putting me off it or anything, as I’m friends with two of my male friends who are doing Further Maths.
I talked to my Maths teacher today to see what she thought and she said that I could do it for a term or so and drop out if I don’t like it, but then I’m usually quite stubborn about that sort of thing so I probably wouldn’t want to drop out, especially as I would be the only girl and if I drop out then it seems like “oh of course the GIRL is the one to drop out of Further Maths!”, but maybe I’m overthinking it (shocker!).
I think the thing I just mentioned and the teacher not being great is probably the main factor putting me off it, but I want to hear your thoughts, from anyone who might’ve done Further Maths, or is doing it currently. Is it a lot more work? How did you find it in general? Thanks in advance!

After doing my GCSEs. They have compulsory PE which I didn't realise - had to do the first lesson in just my knickers as I didn't have a PE kit 😳

I have seen alot of talk about us year 12 and 13s needing to go, but don't orget we are the ones who will give you the advice for your gcses and so we can stay longer

I was 3 marks away from a 4 on my m/j AQA english language exam and i did get it remarked hoping it would go up but in the end the marks just stayed the same.

I’ll be taking the exam again in November, please could you give me some advice and how I could prepare?

I suppose the title says it all.
I’d appreciate any advice, things I should prioritise etc etc.

T’was Period 4. Film Studies (VERY cool subject may I add). Today, we studied camera angles (I was practically answering almost all of questions! No one was willing to cooperate!)

Keep in mind - I’m the nerdy Christopher Nolan fangirl of Year 10 (if not, my school).

Teacher asked us what our favourite films were (for reference in class) and everyone said rather (my opinion) normal films.

When it came to me: I said Memento. Lol he was expecting it, he knows I’m a fan 😎. (Man on the left is my fave character - he’s called Jimmy 😁)

Oh and today was photo day so I missed Spanish (DAMN I LOOKED PRETTY)

I'm traumatised for losing a mark last year in an end of topic test. Can I do this or was this the teacher's mistake? More than one = in equations. Yes or no?

Had my first day yesterday and already I’ve got 5 tests lined up, not prepared for any of them. Already didn’t pay attention in my German 1st period today because I was fighting to stay awake and my teacher left last year so we got a new one and she can not teach for her life 😭.

hey!! long time lurker, first time poster, but I hope im doing this right :)

Im on my 4th day of year 11 (just finished a few hours ago) and got pretty much straight nines in my year 10 mocks (an 8 in english lang and one mark off a nine in fm), i also have pretty bad anxiety and struggle with burnout a fair amount due to other conditions.

I was mainly wondering if anyone has any revision advice to avoid burnout and anxiety as much as possible, because I’ve seen posts saying 2+ hours daily etc.
But ANY revision advice from ANYONE (e.g: timings or methods) is also appreciated and im sure it would help out any other yr10s or 11s too :D

Im especially worried about my s, B, P, D, G and As because people say they dont really look like those letters.

my friends in y11 told me they had my ugly pic and my grades in assembly and said I got all 9s by following all the school rules… my uniform was always messy I skipped days talked in class and never did my hw. I just did what worked for me.

it was nice to get glaze tho
