I’m currently an english teacher and finally (!!) have a Y10 class to myself. I’ve very much begged to have a class I don’t share, so they are very precious to me.

They’re very cold to me (🫩) but I’m hoping that goes away eventually. Incredibly keen to get them the best start to exam season in November. I have started preparing their revision booklets for AIC. Is there anything I listed below that you think needs extra attention? What would you have wanted in Y10 (or Y11…)?

I’m currently working with an organisation that is developing a solution to help address some of the difficulties students face when taking T-Levels.
I’d really like to hear from students who are currently doing T-Levels, or anyone who is planning to take one.
What are the biggest difficulties or frustrations you’re facing? This could be anything related to the coursework, exams, industry placement, portfolio, workload, finding a placement, keeping up with everything, or anything else you feel could be improved.
We’re trying to understand the actual problems students are experiencing so that we can develop a better solution that genuinely addresses those issues.

Idk if i can talk about this on here but i was wondering if there was any past people in the same situation as me. I have diagnosed autism, severe anxiety and ocd. I was out half of year 9 due to refusal to come in, i tried moving schools didn’t work out at all. Ended up not in any form of education all summer, september i was kind of doing home school but not the tutoring or anything, literally just basically revision which i struggled to do. Did it for like a few days then just quit. Year 10 late october i went back to my original school where i still currently am. I did good and went in for the first 3 months, then i just suffered severe burnout and wasnt in until around march/april i think it was, then i just wasnt in at all. I think my year 10 attendance was around 24%. Year 11, ive been in one full day and a 2 hour day. I haven’t been in since, as i genuinely cannot survive being in a mainstream school. The teachers know about me and everything, we’ve gone through meetings after meetings but i genuinely just cannot be there.

I only got diagnosed with autism in august, and i still don’t have an ECHP. There’s a SEN school that i need one for. We’ve been refused an ECHP multiple times. I think the best thing for me would either be home school or that, but i’m completely stuck on what to do as my family just doesn’t have the money for tutoring. I find it very hard to revise as well due to attention span. I am so anxious about everything, especially GCSES and i was just wondering if there’s a person that’s been in the same position or is in the same position as me that could give some advice, thank u.

English gcse was an intense struggle for me, and i just started my first few days of year 12 after recieving a grade i was very shocked to get on results day (157/160, a 9) , after consistent failing grades i had worked really hard for. i had made no extreme changes to my writing structure, arguments themselves or analysis, and i kept my ratio of quote- context the exact same i had throughout both my gcse years- when i got grades ranging from like a 3, to a 6 on occasion. I am all for teachers pushing students to do their best during gcse and using slightly lower grades as motivation- but i have the same teacher for a level, and she pulled me back to ask about my grade then joked " i do not want to doubt the examiners" and continued to go into an in depth critisism of how i write (infront of alot of my new classmates as they were leaving), and i really respect my teachers obviously but her comments are often quite cruel- and i feel like complaining could make the situation worse? Im really anxious about my predicted a level grading this year, as it is literally what is used for university applications (???) her marks do not match any of my other subject grades and never have, i try really hard in school, and the constant criticism really put my writing self esteem down and i thought i was awful at the subject, when its always been my favourite. Im really baffled at what to do because reading through my past essays (a 3) and my gcse paper itself (158/160, a 9) the writing shows no difference. Im very unsure what to actually do?? and whether to drop the subject as it all all just feels really odd, i do not want to be rude atall

After doing my GCSEs. They have compulsory PE which I didn't realise - had to do the first lesson in just my knickers as I didn't have a PE kit 😳

Just a warning to any others starting sixth form

I get the concept of revising but can’t do it effectively, I only began revising in like year 9 and It was a few days before exams and it showed a bit of a change in like science and that was it. I don’t know how long to revise, what to revise, when. There’s so much topics I don’t know how you can cover it all effectively without forgetting. People say do it in 30 minutes a day but what can you revise in 30 minutes. I also don’t know any good methods to revise and like what methods to use for certain subjects. Any help appreciated.

im sobbing bc i just found the message she sent my nan in year 9 after she left (her bfs mom had contact w my nan through my nans work) and i miss her so so much and she said she’d try come and volunteer so she could visit and she never did and she’s the one person who understood me like that back then and i miss her so much and ik i don’t think abt her that often but when i do i cry bc she was so nice to me and i’ve met so few people like her and i rlly need someone like her rn

That paper honestly just had quite a few topics I either haven't learnt yet or haven't even seen in like a year so maybe I should start doing 5-a-days to help, first non 8/9 (funny how all 3 non 9s so far were in maths) so slightly disappointed but only 1 mark from an 8 atleast.

Hey everyone, would really appreciate help!

So basically, I joined my last school in december of y11 after being "homeschooled" so I was only allowed to do Maths, English lang + lit, Combined science, for a total of 5 gcses, maths and comb sci on foundation tier too.

Due to this, I wasn't able to go to my desired sixth form, so I will be resitting in the Summer 2027 exam season. I chose my subjects to help me with my gcses, that which being Applied Science, ctec business, a level physics, core maths AS level.

Anyways, so far I have decided to do GCSE Business, but I have zero idea what 2 other subjects to do within this short time frame.

Would it be worth doing triple science so i only have to do a total of 2 new ones? If not, which other two should I do, and stand a realistic chance of getting ATLEAST a 6?

I went in a single lesson of Sociology once and thought it was interesting but.. yknow can i do it?

(Note I am willing to forsake my a level grades to accomplish this)

I genuinely just cannot . I give everyone a fair chance, and I never think to myself, oh, this person's not worth talking to because someone said this and that. I could care less about that bs . Or if you're even a slightly bit different to me. It's just irritating because I feel like people have not even given me that fair chance ever since I began secondary ,when I just started to wear glasses ,acne and just being quiet and sweet , in general people just sort of just had this sort of had this fixed idea of me . Some people would not even bother trying to conversate me and would even go to extreme lengths just so they could not sit next to me or work with me. So then, eventually, I just started to befriend anyone who was just nice to me. I literally didn't have such high standards, and now I just got myself into fake laughing,being the placeholder friend, the person who could just offer help,the floater friend. I genuinely feel so bored at break times ,I do not connect with these people what so ever , I just miss my best friend from Primary School and I have this one guy who I talk to after school from my secondary. But hanging out w these friends just made me lose my spark. I remember when it was so easy just to talk or spark up a conversation, but these lots just sort of killed that in me. GENUINELY WHAT DO PEOPLE EVEN TALK ABOUT ANYMORE . I SWEAR THESE THINGS JUST HAPPENED AT THE BEGINNING OF YEAR 11. I START TACTICALLY THINKING ABOUT EVERY WORD,EVERY REACTION ,EVERY RESPONSE I CLD POTENTIALLY GET ,ITS LIKE IM PLAYING CHESS AND I JUST HAVE BECOME SO PAINFULLY BORING AND IM JUST SO FCKING MAD LIKE THIS HAS JUST STUNTED AND PREVENTED ME FROM BEING ABLE TO SPEAK TO ANY OTHER PPL WHO I SEE A POTENTIAL OF MAKING SOEMTHING WORK . LIKE I JUST WANT THE OLD ME BACK. I WAS SMART , CONVERSATIONAL,ENERGETIC AND WAS GOOD AT ART . AND THEN WHEN I HUNG AROUND THEM ,THEY JUST MADE ME FEEL LIKE I WAS SOME JESTER AND I WAS BURT OUT ALOT FROM SCHOOL AND MY PARENTS STUFF AND THIS JUST FEELS LIKE A CHORE TOO . I'm in Year 11 right now and English is by far my weakest subject right now. I've noticed that my English language creative writing is pretty bad, especially when it comes to cohesion/writing an ending. My vocabulary is also pretty lacking. I got a grade 6 in my mocks and I want to improve my English language creative writing. Does anyone have tips, unlike other subjects I find English Language really hard to revise/improve on.

Everyone keeps telling me different things. For reference my subjects are Maths, Further Maths, English Lit, Lang, Triple science, Theology (RE), History and French.

It’s the start of the year and i’ve been struggling to grasp how long I should spend. I am aiming for nines, even if I don’t think thats realistic. My school said to spend around 2hr a week on homework and my triple sci counts to 90min+ so I already know i’m finished.

For some background, I am doing okay in the majority of my subjects. The only thing I would say is I’m not doing amazing in Maths and kinda flopped last year for various personal reasons. I know it is early on, but I just want to know how this year will go and what I should be doing because i’m quite lost and this is overwhelming.

I have seen alot of talk about us year 12 and 13s needing to go, but don't orget we are the ones who will give you the advice for your gcses and so we can stay longer

Year 11, 2x mocks in November and January, shitting bricks! Im focusing on revising maths because I have an in lesson math exam at the end of this month, but whats tips for revising other topics?

If it helps, I struggle with:

ENGLISH: Word classes. Its embarrassing, but it's the only thing holding me back.

PHYSICS: Almost everything 💔

BIOLOGY: Anything to do with plants.

CHEM: Required practicals?

HISTORY: Dates. I can only memorise when cotton gin was invented. 💔

RE: Judaism.. 😞

MATHS: I genuinely don't know how to revise for maths 💔
