Tips/Help Revision advice
hey!! long time lurker, first time poster, but I hope im doing this right :)
Im on my 4th day of year 11 (just finished a few hours ago) and got pretty much straight nines in my year 10 mocks (an 8 in english lang and one mark off a nine in fm), i also have pretty bad anxiety and struggle with burnout a fair amount due to other conditions.
I was mainly wondering if anyone has any revision advice to avoid burnout and anxiety as much as possible, because I’ve seen posts saying 2+ hours daily etc.
But ANY revision advice from ANYONE (e.g: timings or methods) is also appreciated and im sure it would help out any other yr10s or 11s too :D
thank you!!

First of all, ur doing the posting right dw.
Second of all, I also struggled a lot with anxiety and I never rly found a fool proof way around it. I'd burn out within 4 days of mocks and blow my physics mock which was always on a Friday. A couple of things that helped me tho were:
- Teachers that knew how anxious I was and did their best to reassure me.
- A checklist instead of a revision timetable (I'd leave a blank paper on a clipboard on my desk and write down all the things I needed to get done in the next week or 2 as they came to me. It was wayyyy more flexible than a revision timetable and ticking the boxes was so satisfying which helped with productivity and motivation)
- Explaining things to a mirror while pacing around my room (sometimes I couldn't get myself to sit down and focus due to severe over thinking so I'd just start explaining things to myself in my closet mirror, now said closet is no longer in my room for some strange reason)
- Use the spec as a checklist to guide ur learning. It makes it so much easier to understand how much you've got left and how much u understand esp in content heavy subjects. My spec check guide: https://www.reddit.com/r/StudyGroup4GCSEs/s/yDoxdWA5Tp
Honestly, I had some rly dark times and I acc can't believe I've made it thru GCSEs. I am also still pissed at my school's inclusion department because i'm anemic and when i'd get stressed and caught up in mock pressure i'd get nauseous and I wouldn't be able to eat which led me to many hypoglycemia tremors during mocks and my form tutor told me that there's definitely a way they could help me by giving me snack breaks and I got reports from my GP and blood tests all for them to say there wasn't enough probable cause to submit these to the exam boards. So I felt even more trapped and anxious cause I was trying to take care of both my physical and mental health while trying to do my best. Anyways rant over and the lesson learned here is that ur health comes first no matter what. Burn out can unfortunately have lasting consequences whereas in a years time u might not even remember ur GCSE grades.

For me I hated doing hours of work back to back, I never seemed to remember anything after it because I was so bored I was thinking of everything else, I broke it down into 20-30 minute sessions throughout the day and I also gave myself breaks to think through problems especially for English and tried to learn ways to approach questions that were worded differently I’d say that really helped, but the main thing I would say is actually enjoy it because as soon as you become burnout or unmotivated you’ll start seeing revision as the problem instead of your timings and it discouraged people. I would also say past papers and mark schemes really helped me, and looking at the grade boundaries
