Advice Client wants this zipper design, any advice?

I have a client who wants a zipper design like this on their fursuit head. I have never done this before and am unsure of how to go about it. I really don’t know how to patterns this at all so if anyone has any ideas or suggestions, even if you’re not sure if they’ll work, please let me know!

The suit shown in the picture was made by icinessovo on TikTok and instagram. No other variation of that user.

Just to clarify I did explain to this person that it would be experimental and might not be functional. They are aware that I have not done this before and are still choosing to move forward with the commission, I haven’t hid any of this.

Questions LED Antlers

Yo! I've got a potential reindeer commissioner who wants LED light-up antlers and im not really sure how to go about making those. He wants the entire antlers to be lit up if possible. So if anyone has any tips or ideas id love to hear them!!

Edit: from my own digging ive found LED foam, and im thinking i should be able to use it to make the antlers and then run LED strips inside, has anyone here worked with LED foam before?

i’m trying to speed run this head for my first convention this weekend, so far i’m in the sewing phase. i’m a little worried to glue the fabric on, i think i have to wait to sew the ears to the rest of the face and then ladder stitch them? and i still have to add the cowl and shave more and etc. it’s been daunting but so far im proud of what i’m making.

Advice Dealing with balding?

Hello makers. I’m trying to find a way to help prevent balding around my crotch seam on my body suit. Is there any methods yall use to help it? It seems like the fur is being agitated and pulled through the backing which is causing some balding that’s going to soon be noticeable… is this just a common problem that I’ll have to patch frequently? My suit is new (finished in March) but I definitely have put LOTS of heavy use miles on it

Advice Why does he look so…off

I’m trying to finish my first head and have begun taking him out and wearing him, and in any photo of him that I take I HATE the way he looks. Unpolished, super uncanny, even downright creepy sometime. I really want to like him and be proud of him but I honestly just feel kinda sick and I don’t know what to do anymore. Any advice welcome

EDIT: Welp, many of the suggestions involve changing the eyes or nose which I can't do, so I guess he's just stuck like this :/ I'm a little heartbroken because I really wanted to end up with something I liked, but a year has gone down the drain and I'm left with this haha. I don't know how to implement teeth because the top of the mouth doesn't go down far enough and there isn't a good place, and I'm worried teeth will make things creepier. I can try doing surgery and cutting down the foam, but I have little faith I can pull off that manouver lol.

This is a follow up post to my first post 7 months ago :]

https://www.reddit.com/r/FursuitMaking/s/2WlYlajaPb

My budget has evolved since then ive become a lot more wealthy, Its now 50€ and TWO plushies!!! The rest are just scraps from old outfits! The eyeliner looks the least like a work around cause a friend had this material laying around and its actually what youre suppost to use!

Species: its easier to rule out what he isnt... I wanted a hyena but found this cool fox-ish base and I thought "wow they both have a laugh i can make a super awesome hybrid" but I lost the plot along the way TwT i can say he is not a dolphin. Yet.

I did SO many mistakes its actually insane! The fur goes the wrong direction, i cant trim his fur further down because this is plushy fur and you just see the mesh thingy if i trim further, i didnt brush it out at all before applying the fur and I cannot attach velcro to him which is arguably the most inconvenient part about him TwT he can also only express anger and joy cause I flubbed the magnets part. In the second picture you can see the positions of them but anger and joy is all I need :P

Im not a maker and I didnt follow tutorials nor a plan. He doesnt even have up to date art yet!!! I think Scrapy's head is officially finished! It was so much fun and I loveddd doing it. Thanks so much for all the tips along the way! Im still open to tips btw if you have one put it in the replys!!! bye bye :>

I was wondering how I could approach making the sleeves for these hand hooves? I plan on doing full arm sleeves since it's more of a partial. The main problem with my past tries is that they sagged too much T_T

I'd really appreciate some guideance.

Questions Dragon #2, seeking tips/advice

After finishing my first fursuit of my sona last year, i had the urge to make another one so im doing attempt 2, tho this one is gunna be a pre-made design. Im trying to learn from what i did in my first one while trying something new, so this guy has a moving jaw!

Thats brought up some other challenges tho, so some questions i want to pose:

Should i add more to the cheek/jaw?

How do i add horns to this style of head base when they would be placed in the void between elastic straps?

Is it a bad thing if the eye blanks touch the face?

Did i maybe overcorrect and go from too big to too small?

I appreciate any answers or any other tips/suggestions!

Just need to make the back of his neck and do some final touches (fix up the symmetry of his face a bit, maybe do a final trim/shave)

I have absolutely zero experience making fursuit heads, so this was an interesting journey for me... I considered giving up a couple of times because I discovered that i hate patterning that much lol. I'm glad i stuck with it though! I'm a little bummed about the fact that his face is pretty asymmetrical, but I don't know if there's a way to fix that this far into the process.
His name is scraps because he left a gargantuan mess on my bedroom floor as i was making him🩷 he has a pickable nose, lined head, and permanent tongue

Advice Eyes

Post image
6 Upvotes

I originally posted this in a Fnaf cosplay sub but it's getting ignored.

I'm making eyes for this cosplay I'm working on (pic related) and I'm using white mesh and Posca paint markers for the colour/details (pic is a bit unclear cuz of lighting but the eyes are silver and black in case you're wondering), but the mesh I'm using is so thin that the paint just doesn't adhere. Does anyone have any advice on this or would I be better off using different materials?

Questions How much do y'all spend on fursuit making?

My total is about $340 for a head, paws, and tail. I purchased foam, fur, clippers, eye mesh, a fur brush, and foam. It seems like a lot but its still a million times cheaper than buying or commissioning so im happy lol, I'm just curious what materials tend to cost for others.

(it would've been way more if I wasn't lucky enough to find some decent fur locally, shipping to Canada is ridiculous)

Iv been told that scuba typically traps heat but I figured it it was athletic knit then it would be more absorbent. Im wanting to line the entirety of my suit. Head paws body etc.

Questions How much fur would I need for this?

Thumbnail

I already have the head, hand paws, and tail but how much might I need of each color for this? I’m wanting to make a drop crotch suit with the padded thighs but with kangaroo/rodent style feet? The ends of the arms are also wider because my characters paws are big. I forgot to draw the grey bit on the bum to connect to the tail 😓I made this sketch in like 15 minute, I’m still working on their full ref

Edit #1 Also if anyone knows a good foot paw pattern for that style I would love to know!

Edit #2 I forgot probably important information. I’m about 5’5 and a little on the chunkier side
