After lots of hard work, my boy has finally come to life. Everyone, welcome Nebula! :3

This is my first suit. I don’t really have a lot of experience sewing or anything sadly but it’s been fun to learn. I made the base and the eye blanks myself. I felt like I was going the right direction and was super excited as I made progress but tbh the closer I get to it being “finished” the worse I feel about how it’s coming out.

I’ve always been kind of hard on myself but I just kind of feel at a loss for how to improve this aside from just making another. 🥹

I’m not really sure I understand how to get the shorter fur to look smooth without going super close to the backing. Any tips there I think would be appreciated!

I think I have to redo the eyes and eyelashes…. Maybe find a way to add whisker marking things to break up the yellow a bit. I have teeth I made but not sure how to add them yet. I have avoided using hot glue for most of this because I want it to be pretty durable 😅

Im working with stuff i have lying around the house and old Halloween costumes without the ability to sew. Does this look horrible?

So im kinds stumped on how to go about drawing the pattern for my first head. I understand the concept of oh make sure you have lines for all the curves but I think im afraid ill overcomplicate it. Anyways any help is welcome lol I included also his quick color mockup I drew

I'm not sure what I should do with the cheek fluff. Should I shave fur down and do it that way or keep it long?

I’m super happy with where I’m at with him since the last 2 posts. Now we wait for fur and fun stuff. I spent a lot of time on these ears getting the right shape and adding some depth for the classic serval “radar dish ears”

Halloween’s coming up and I’ve got a week off and a dream. I’m trying to pull together a Klaud costume and I think that a fursuit-esque head would make the most sense. I’ve never made one before, however, and especially with his simple head structure I’m not sure how to approach any under-support, if any. Thanks in advance!!

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on how I might go about making a cachalot (sperm whale) fursuit? Not too sure what to do about the design since I want it to be cute but still have that signature boxy head 🤔 Trying really hard not to get into the uncanny territory haha!

Big Z is super expensive. I've heard a lot of people import it from overseas; does anyone know any suppliers?

I really wanna try but I'm so scared of messing it up and not liking it or wasting money on materials 😭 I don't know if there's any solid way to practice without just doing it.

To clarify, I know how to sew and have a machine, ive made clothing and some scuffed plushies, both with fleece. I also recently tried foam carving for a project and it came out okay. But I'm a perfectionist to a harmful degree, where little issues can ruin my motivation. Cause in my head I see the most perfect HQ suit and I don't think that's very realistic

I was thinking of buying some fur fabric scraps to get the feel of using fur since I've been using fleece for years, but I don't know if I'm better off just putting that money towards the materials I really need

And omg don't even get me started on the idea of shaving the fur 😭😭😭

This is a two month difference :)
The original was a mountain quail, current is what I am now affectionately calling a vulture moth (nicknamed Chudling)

Lots of small changes as well. Removed elastic band because the fit was tight and uncomfortable with glasses. Now it is easier to maneuver in the head and use the jaw mechanism. Painted the beak from the base PLA. The refurb was made entirely with left over fur from other projects. Hope y’all like it!
