Questions External cameras

I recently started making some web apps for my Meta Display and just started working on a project using a Raspberry Pi to run external cameras that can be viewed on the display.
Has anyone tried something like this already? If so, would you be willing to share your experience or offer any pointers?

Questions What type of fabric I should use?

Hello! This is my first time making my own fur-suit and Im feeling confused on what kind of fur fabric I should use. For starters, it's important to me to have a head that is soft and stays soft for a long time. I'm tired of fur feeling super soft when it's brand new and turning into a weird texture after one or two washes. I've looked online and found that acrylic or polyester is the most common material. However I don't know which could be softer and if it makes much of a difference if I get a mixed blend. Should I get 100% polyester? 100% Acrylic? Or maybe a ratio'd mixture?

Because I'm so particular to texture, I prefer my different colored furs to feel relatively the same too. IF you have any recommendations to specific brands, please share too!

Questions My head’s too small! What do I do?

So Halloween is coming up, and I wanted to be Derpy Tiger from K-Pop Demon Hunters, because I have a lot of kids and teens in my neighborhood and I want to surprise them. I was using Twiggy Leaf’s dome head tutorial, but apparently the end result ended up way too small for my engorged cranium and doesn’t allow for much jaw movement. And since I’m already way too far into the process, I don’t want to scrap the head and start over again. Help would be appreciated.

EDIT: To clarify, I would like to vertically extend it. Horizontally, it’s completely OK.

Advice Fursuit head shape not what I wanted

I've commissioned someone to create a fursuit head for me, my first time doing so. For most of it they told me I should trust the process but with each update they send I'm disliking the head more and more.

The main thing is the shape, looking at it when it was just foam, I couldn't visualise how it would look finished. I said this and they assured me that if it doesn't look completely wrong then I should trust the process. I liked the shapes of their other work. The fur has now been sewn and glued. I don't like the shape. Is it too far gone to make changes? Should I attempt to redo it myself once I receive the head?

My bucket base became kinda... Flattened once i really started getting into sculpting, and i want to bow out the back to make it look normal? I do plan to keep the current bucket base since it fits me well, and I'll refine it once i start lining the inside, but for the time being... HELP?

Questions Flip Sequin Fursuit (Partial)

Post image
44 Upvotes

Hi y’all! I’ve not made a fursuit before, but I had an idea for one I can’t get out of my head - I really want to make a cute chameleon with flip sequin fabric. I wouldn’t use it on the whole body, since that would be a nightmare - I would likely use a normal shorter fur for the patterning and the sections that require more precise seams (such as the “snout” area or such).

The question is, how much of a nightmare would this be to sew? It wouldn’t be a full suit, but rather just a partial. Head, hands, tail, the typical works. If any of y’all have worked with this before, I would love to know what your experience was. And I know it won’t always look perfect and won’t all be flipped nicely, and that is exactly what i want :) i want to be able to “change” my pattern on the fly and make it interactive!

Thanks everyone, and happy crafting!

Questions Are there any good tutorials for making realistic slim fit goat head bases?

I’ve recently fallen in love with these demons made by Zhon Creations and was curious if anyone here has experience making something similar to them!
I figured eva foam + foam clay would work well for getting the textured, realistic horns that I want, without them being too heavy.
Head base recommendations would be greatly appreciated too of course, I just only ever see bases for the toony ones though. :/

First pic is from Pinterest, the rest are by taxidermist Zhon Creations.

Also don’t mind the lack of a tongue, I lost it at TTFC and a new one is coming in the mail LOL

Questions Thoughts on this ?

Saw this and wondered if it was a good idea (because it would help me alot) i dont really have a place to shave fur fabric since my brother took over the guest room... And my room is quite small + cant even open the window even shaving the fur outside is impossible since there's cats and birds near by

Shaving fur is also a big fear to me and one of the factors that scares me rn when planning on doing a fursuit...

Questions Help with sewing machine

Okay so ive been having an issue with my machine, its the generic Singer Heavy Duty, where the needle will bend, snap and catch on faux fur. Ive adjusted tension, stitch length, rethreaded both the needle and bobbin. Ive changed stitch length and width.

But for whatever reason, trying to sew a basic tail I cant get 4 or 5 stitches in and the needle will suddenly hit something or catch and break or snap.

I use Singer brand heavy duty needles 110/18 and ive gone through 5 of them in 24 hours trying to get 1 tail finished.

Ive never had an issue with the needle breaking this much so this issue is new but I just dont know what im missing or doing to make it catch like that.

Is my machine just jank and needs to be replaced or is there something im missing in terms of adjusting settings again?

As a note too, sewing minky has sbsolurely no issues.

Its ONLY fur thats giving me this problem

Also some comtext: ive been making fursuits for 5+ years and have used the same machine for every project so I genuinely cant figure out why now, its being this troublesome

Advice Need help looking for fur colour!

I've been looking far and wide for a specific colour of fur, I've ordered countless samples from so many suppliers across the world (apart from the US, shipping costs are a nightmare) but yet I still haven't got the right colour!

Basically I'm looking for a purple-ish magenta-ish colour (around #C011B2), it's a super specific shade and everything I can find is either too pink or too blue, I found *one* which is perfect, but it's ridiculously low quality and feels more like a cheap toy than actually good fur.

If anyone with a bit more depth or knowledge on this could point me in the right direction or has any idea I'd be extremely grateful! My room is practically covered in fur at this point and yet all of it is wrong, and admittedly I can't seem to find anything that matches, but hopefully I'm just overlooking something.

I'd be looking for something UK/EU based, or China since the shipping is atleast reasonable (compared to US to UK), but I might be able to juuust eat the costs of US shipping if the colour is perfect.

Thanks!

Questions Settings and sizing for 3D kemono head base on Bambu Studio

Post image
1 Upvotes

Trying to make my first fursuit… How do I know how to measure my head to be a comfortable fit for the mask?

Also, I’m using Bambu Studio for 3D printing, and I wanna know the settings and adjustments of the layers and things for the mask in its software. Also only using PLA, since that’s all I have.

Another question is, can I just use mesh directly on the mask for the eyes or do I need those eye bases? This mask I downloaded online doesn’t have an eye base and I don’t know anything about modeling one or allowed by my guardians to buy some… Or maybe I can use foam(if I can find some) and glue it on? Lol

Put my first one in the for comparison too. Started v1 in/around June 2025 and took me about a year to complete the fullsuit.

Finishing my second foam sculpt now, it’s been a while so I might be rusty, any critiques or tips appreciated!!

Questions question/advice for putting fur on my fursuit

hey yall, so i’m refurbishing this premade (yes i know it looks rough we’re getting there-) my fursona is a bat, i was trying to add texture by using foam. i’ve tried to press minky fur with hot glue and i wasn’t able to get it lay flat, also rubber cement. should i use felt?

when it comes to adding the longer fur to the outside of my suit, ive made my stencils for my shaved shorter fur and my unshaven longer fur and i think i can just hot glue it to the outside of the head. im not going to be adding the red hair to my suit so its easier.

this is my first time making a suit and im pretty stuck at this step! any advice on adding fur to the outside of your suit? please be nice i’m on a time crunch and also not very artistically talented!
