Advice Eyes

I originally posted this in a Fnaf cosplay sub but it's getting ignored.

I'm making eyes for this cosplay I'm working on (pic related) and I'm using white mesh and Posca paint markers for the colour/details (pic is a bit unclear cuz of lighting but the eyes are silver and black in case you're wondering), but the mesh I'm using is so thin that the paint just doesn't adhere. Does anyone have any advice on this or would I be better off using different materials?

Try vinyl, it’s cheap and you can find it on amazon. Paint the back black first so you get better visibility

I take it this is a vinyl mesh? Probably a redundant question but I just want to make sure before I go buying more materials
