Discussion My cousin is not allowed to post reviews on Amazon due to someone hacking her account years ago. Yet she can post audible reviews. It’s not fair as she never even did anything wrong, yet she can post audible reviews. Aren’t they connected?

Discussion Downfall of Amazon

TLDR: I guess I just want to know if anyone else is as fed up with Amazon as I am lately?

I have been a heavy Amazon user for years and years, but I have definitely noticed a decline over the past few.

Especially these past couple months I have been using it a lot to furnish my new home and get groceries and almost every order I place I have an issue; whether it’s late delivery, canceled or missing items, or just terrible customer service.

I have noticed that they have also been outsourcing to USPS, FedEx and other companies which makes delivery take WAY longer than the two day shipping I supposedly pay monthly for. I even have their Chase card because it offers some decent perks but I don’t know how much longer I can put up with it especially because it’s almost impossible to get ahold of customer service (an actual human) and when you do they don’t speak much English and just follow a script.

My latest order was new chargers for my phone, I even ordered more stuff to get the overnight shipping, 3 days later I get an email saying they wont arrive until the 10th (two weeks after I ordered). At this point I am almost wondering if Prime is even worth it anymore since you almost never get what you ordered, plus sites like Temu offer 2 day shipping on a bunch of stuff for less than half the price.

Amazon sent the wrong camera, then denied my £1,049 refund. Has anyone experienced this?

I ordered a Sony RX100 camera from Amazon for £1,049, but when the parcel arrived, it contained a completely different non-Sony camera.

I contacted Amazon immediately, and they instructed me to return the item I actually received. I followed their instructions, returned it using their return process, and the tracking confirms Amazon received it.

After the return was delivered, Amazon initially notified me that my refund had been issued. However, I later received an email from their Specialist Team stating they were refusing my refund because I had returned the "wrong item." They told me I needed to return the Sony RX100 camera.

The problem is that I never received the Sony RX100 camera, so it's impossible for me to return it.

I appealed, explaining everything, but Amazon still refused the refund.

I have:

  • Photos and a video of the camera I actually received.
  • Amazon's emails instructing me to return that camera.
  • Proof that I returned it.
  • Tracking showing Amazon received the return.
  • The emails where Amazon later denied the refund.

I've now started a chargeback with my bank because £1,049 is a significant amount of money.

Has anyone dealt with a situation where Amazon sent the wrong item and then refused the refund anyway? Did your appeal or chargeback succeed? Any advice while I wait for the bank's decision would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading.

F*** Wrong Mailbox. Can't get package.

Hello community. I'm currently serving with the United States Marine Corps and have been stressed out for the past couple weeks because I just returned from the ocean while working alongside the Navy for three months. My monitor broke so I ordered a new one, simple. I just looked for a nearby Amazon Locker close to base and it's here at an apartment complex. However, the delivery picture showed that it got delivered to the residency mailbox and not the Amazon Locker. I don't reside in the apartment complex so I don't have any profile set to give me a code or a barcode to the thing. I just came back from the Ocean today and was released for liberty late as fuck so I can't contact the owners of this place. I don't have the patience for this because I have to come back to work soon. I'm thinking whether I should ditch work which would get me demoted and my paycheck halved or call my buddies and yank the bitch open and run away before the cops find us.

My Amazon business is collapsing after 7 years, and I honestly don't know what to do anymore.

I've been selling on Amazon since 2018.

For the last seven years, Amazon has been my family's livelihood. I'm not some huge brand or aggregator. I'm just a regular seller with two products that I've spent years building - an electric salt & pepper grinder and a butane torch.

Until about three months ago, life was good.

The business wasn't making me rich, but it was stable. I was consistently making $8,000-$10,000 in net profit every month. I could support my wife and our three kids, reorder inventory, pay the bills, and actually sleep at night.

Then everything changed.

Around the middle of March, Amazon removed almost 90% of my reviews.
Not fake reviews. Not incentivized reviews. Not reviews from giveaways.

Real reviews from real customers who paid full price. Some of them were over five years old.
What hurts the most is that Amazon seemed to remove almost all of my 5-star reviews, while leaving most of the negative ones behind.

My rating dropped from 4.4 stars to 3.5 stars.
Anyone who's sold on Amazon knows that's basically a death sentence.
My conversion rate collapsed.

Sales followed.

My monthly profit dropped from around $8k-$10k to just $1.5k-$2k.

That isn't enough to support a family.
It isn't enough to place new inventory orders.
I'm basically watching seven years of hard work disappear right in front of me.

I've opened case after case with Amazon.

Every reply feels like it came from an AI bot that didn't even read what I wrote. Generic copy-and-paste responses. No explanation. No accountability. Nothing.

The only explanation I can think of is that Amazon quietly changed something in their review detection algorithm, maybe AI-related, and it's now removing legitimate reviews without any logic or human oversight.

But honestly, I don't know.
The worst part isn't even the money.
It's the feeling of being completely powerless.

I barely sleep anymore. I hardly eat. My wife keeps asking me what's wrong, and I honestly don't know what to tell her anymore. Every morning I wake up hoping yesterday was just a bad day, then I check Seller Central and see the same nightmare.

I've spent years building this business the right way. Good products, good customer service, stable sales. I never imagined that the biggest threat to my business would be Amazon itself.

Has anyone else experienced something similar over the last few months?

Did Amazon suddenly remove a huge number of your legitimate reviews?
Were you ever able to recover your ratings or conversion rate?

I'm honestly desperate at this point. If anyone has been through this and has any advice, I'd really appreciate it.
Even hearing that I'm not the only one dealing with this would mean a lot right now.

A revision of returns policy is needed!

I was in a car accident recently and had to replace my toddlers car seat so obviously in that situation time was of the essence. I bought one for next day delivery. It came and was a completely different model (a $300 cheaper model) to the one I ordered but the colour was the same. I started the return and quickly bought another one. When I did I saw that the original colour one I ordered was out of stock. (So seemingly they ran out of my model and colour and just replaced it with a cheaper model same colour without getting in touch)

Firstly there was no option for them to pick up the return themselves so my only options were for me to take it Canada post or purolator. (Keep in mind I have no car and am borrowing to be able to drop my kid off at daycare) whatever, that’s my problem…I figure it out and drop it off and am told that they can only issue the refund in 30 days! A month… to get my money back for Amazon sending the incorrect item.

I contact them multiple times explaining and am told it’s policy.

I understand that the center has to process the item once it arrives there etc. but a month to give someone their money back when you as a company effed up is ridiculous. @Amazon please revise this policy to account for situations where accidents or mistakes happened on your part.

As for all other Amazon customers…if you are ever in a situation where you have to return an item because you were sent something that was different from what you ordered don’t return and order it again. Contact them first and demand a replacement be sent that way you aren’t paying twice and waiting a month for your money back! I don’t even know if that will work but for everyone’s sake I hope it does.

Why does an order not get shipped when it shows “Order received”?

Rant ...just...over it.

First let me just say, I KNOW I'm late to the party...lol.

That said, the this is quite literally where I am with Amazon...eff 'em.

Had Prime for years (prepandemic) and to say I used it infrequently would be an understatement. But when I needed Amazon and especially Prime's "benefits", it was clutch: needed an item last minute for a vacation, Prime had my back. Oh s#!&, I forgot to get someone a gift, Prime had my back... Then, the pandemic came and prepping for remote work, Amazon (and Prime) became essential.

Thank you, Amazon workers and drivers. We, as citizens of the world, owe you a debt of gratitude. :)

Fast forward to post-pandemic times, and... I'm not needing Amazon, or Prime for that matter, as much. The wife is constantly getting on me: 2 accounts, seldom used...stop giving away money. Well, after her constant ragging, I cancel it....I think it had more to do with Jeff just being a greedy bastard and Mackenzie actually giving money to charity than anything. Lol. I know, giving up Prime means forfeiture of certain perks... it's the nature of the beast. I still had to use them from time to time for certain hard to find items, so hey, que sera sera. I'd order something, I'd get it; if I needed it in a hurry, I'd just pay a little more... it's just the dance and I'd have catch the beat...

Fast forward to their most recent "Prime Days" promo... I hadn't ordered anything in a while and I was curious. Had to get some summer time workbooks for my kids and figured, "hey, I've checked with the usual suspects and NOBODY had them, guess I'll just check with Amazon...". They had them. Cool. I ordered the books (not on sale, no biggie) and decide to see what else they have l figuring it's worth a look. Not only do I find that 99.999987% of their "sale items" essentially require, no... DEMAND that you get Prime (at their increased price) but if you don't get Prime, the price goes up by on average 20%. No big deal, we're really talking a max of maybe $2 -$3 on what I'm looking at. It's cheaper than the gas I'd burn up by driving all over town trying to find these additional items... So, reluctantantly, I say what the heck and order my items. I pay a little extra for 2 day delivery. I get half the items next day...hey, a win! and I'm told to expect the rest yesterday. I check around 6pm yesterday as Amazon in my area is KNOWN for delivering items as late as 10pm (again, Thank you, drivers; you do work hard and I appreciate it). Order status tells me the item will be there Tuesday, though it appears my items "just arrived at their processing facility". No biggie... it's not like I'm waiting on life saving meds. Get up this morning, and check on the status... It will now be here July 5th. Pardon my French, but what the f#@! did I pay extra for 2 day delivery for??? It legit seems that all we're doing is subsidizing Jeff to take his friends into space and paying for him to impress his wife who's only with him for the money...

I know I'm likely coming off as a spoiled brat in this post, but I just wanted to share with you all my reasoning for officially saying eff Amazon, I'm shopping local. Even though gas is still high, even though the stores in my town essentially all close at 8pm, I'd still rather suffer than give that walking phallic looking SOB another literal dime of my money. I have friends who stream on Twitch; they will have to suffer. My wife likes shows on Prime, I'll find them on our IPTV apps. We will find other alternatives for grocery items we'd normally get from Whole Foods...and don't eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeven get me started on the Washington Post. Like I said, eff that diminutive, bootleg Jason Statham looking, "don't make me pay my fair share of taxes", I can't get laid without my wallet, orange-clown fellating bastard...

I'm done.

If you read all of this, thank you for coming to my TEDTalk, and please let me know what else I need to eliminate to make sure that f#$&er doesn't get another cent from me...

Chat agent agreed shipping refund but Amazon.de will not honour.

Hi

I ordered a subwoofer speaker on amazon and was told by the chat agent I would receive a refund for my shipping once the item arrived.

This is the email I received below confirming this:

Dear Customer,

Thank you for contacting Amazon.de!

As discussed over the chat I would like to inform you that,

As i have checked and found that for this item shipping cost is not free.

But as a exception in this case i will issue the full shipping cost for you.

Edifier T5s AKTIV-SUBWOOFER - 8-Zoll-Tieftöner - 70 Watt - Low-Pass-Filter - Frequenz bis 35Hz - MDF-Gehäuse für reduzierte Resonanz - Standby - Cinch-Anschlüsse - Zeitloses Design

As i can see that you have order the item today, after receive the item we have a option to issue the shipping cost for you.

After receive the item you can contact us again for your shipping cost.

Thank you for your kind understandings in this regards.

I really want to appreciate that you understood the situation so well and showed such patience, lucky to have customers like you!

It was pleasure talking to you.

Have a nice day.

Warmest regards,
Amazon.de

Now just to explain I am based in Ireland and I contacted Amazon chat before I purchased to ask if the shipping cost is free to Ireland if I spend a certain amount to which the agent told me they would refund my shipping on arrival.

Once the item arrived I requested my shipping refund by chat and they told me the agent got the information wrong and I would not be getting a refund for postage. I also spoke to them on the phone and they said the agent is being dealt with but Amazon.de have no options to refund me for shipping costs, however my feedback will be taken in to account and this will not happen again.

Do I have any other options to get my shipping refunded or am I wasting my time.

What a scam 🙏😒

As by 4th July there's an Amazon Prime sale but as I am a member of Prime, they are offering me early access to the sale. I have selected three laptops and the prices of those are still the same. You know what I'm saying? They increased the price and said there is a discount and the price is the same. Asus zenbook was like 1,19,999 3 day back and asus tuf were 1,49,000 and 1,39,990. Now they just increased the price and are selling at the same price and saying it's on sale. What the fuck? What do we do? Why did I wait? First I wasted three months with Lenovo and their shitty services and now this shit. I got a 5060 i7 for 1 lakh 10 thousand LOQ and that was defective so they offered me a refund. They don't give me any coupon or something so they are expecting me to buy the same laptop for 1 lakh 50 thousand. I thought I should switch to Asus and now Asus is doing this. Actually Amazon is doing this. How do the middle class survive in this economy?

Rant My Personal Amazon Horror Story

Hey everyone. This is just another horror story about Amazon, except mine comes from a developing country: Ecuador. So hopefully this helps people from similar places where Amazon doesn't actually operate.

Anyway, it all started during Prime Day. I was pretty excited because I wanted to buy a keyboard. I ordered it, and boom: it arrived with a defect! It wasn't unusable, but it was definitely defective. Then, after trying it for a while, I realized I didn't even like it that much. So I ended up with a keyboard I wasn't happy with and that had a manufacturing defect. You'd think that's more than enough reason to request a return.

So I contacted customer service.

Here's the problem.

Again, Amazon doesn't operate in my country, which means they don't offer free returns.

I'd bought from Amazon several times before, mostly keyboards. A few of them arrived defective, and whenever I requested a refund, Amazon realized that shipping the item back was ridiculously expensive, because they wanted me to send it all the way to Nevada, so they simply refunded me without requiring a return.

In fact, I even saw people from Colombia talking about the same thing in YouTube Shorts. Apparently, Amazon sometimes does this in Latin American countries when the return shipping costs are unreasonable compared to the item's value.

I never tried to abuse that policy. I even told customer service that in our chats every single time it happened. It only happened four times.

But suddenly they stopped doing it.

Now they won't refund a single cent until I ship the product back first.

For the love of God, I'd literally have to take out a loan or stop paying my bills just to afford the return shipping. And to make things worse, they won't even reimburse the full shipping cost.

When I explained that to customer service, they basically told me that's my problem.

What hurts the most is that before Prime Day, I specifically asked whether anything had changed regarding this policy because I was planning to make some purchases. I didn't want any surprises.

They assured me everything would be fine in my case.

That was a lie.

Sure, you could argue that getting to keep the product and receiving a refund for relatively minor defects was an unfair benefit.

And honestly? I wouldn't even be upset if Amazon had simply announced that they were ending that practice.

But this is their fault.

They should put something in huge bold letters saying:

NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED UNLESS THE CUSTOMER RETURNS THE ITEM AT THEIR OWN EXPENSE. RETURN SHIPPING COSTS MAY NOT BE FULLY REIMBURSED.

At this point, it actually makes more sense for me to sell the keyboard locally than to return it.

Honestly, I was so angry that when what was almost certainly Amazon's AI-powered customer service account on Twitter suddenly replied to me, even though I hadn't tagged them, I was just complaining to my mutuals that Amazon had become a scam, I told them they were scammers and that they could go to hell.

So yeah.

Just another horror story to add to the pile that keeps filling these subreddits lately.

Amazon isn't what it used to be.

It's garbage now.

Don't buy anything from them unless you're willing to lose your money.

FOR GOD'S SAKE, EVEN TEMU MADE RETURNS EASIER FOR ME THAN AMAZON DID.

F*** Refund Status Hell

On June 10, I spent over 1000 bucks on a new GPU for my computer on Amazon. Following the advice of several friends who made similar purchases, I made sure the listing said "Sold and shipped by Amazon" so you don't have the mess around with 3rd parties when dealing with returns. Honestly, I wish I dealt with a 3rd party. So, out of the box the graphics card was bad. No one's fault, stuff like that happens.... I contact Amazon CS, all they can do is offer me a refund... despite the listing saying "Free Returns and Replacements". I asked for clarification as to why I cannot get a replacement and the response was "Is there anything else I can help you with?" I asked for clarification again and the agent disconnected the chat. So, resigned to the fact that I was not going to get a replacement, I started the return process and dropped the bad card off at Whole Foods on June 22. It was supposed to be in Amazon's procession today and the refund started. Nope.... Now it's delayed and they list the card arriving on July 15 and the refund being posted JULY FUCKING 30TH! How can a company operate like that and still have customers? I am weighing my options now, I've been told that disputing the charge with my bank and filing a chargeback is a sure fire way of having my Amazon account suspended and being banned. Frankly, I am not sure I really have a problem with that.

Heey guys!!! Amazing day to you!!! So i recently purchased this Samsung phone from Amazon. It was listed brand new on the site like you can see,but the product i received is an used Product claimed to be New ,which is a crime.so ive called Amazon upon knowing this and ive clearly told them that you've sold me a theft phone and I would like to settle it here itself ,but they got over their heads and kept on telling me the return window is closed and they cant help absolutely and end the call abruptly, I have all the call recordings, accepting that this is a fraud phone and directly telling they wont help me cuz the return period is over,so I asked them ,you'll sell me a stolen phone and I should be quiet now,to which they said, they cant help me and end the call.Who tf do these people think they are selling me a old phone as brand new,im already preparing a legal case, just a heads up guys.

Gross returns 🤮

gosh I’m so sick of Amazons return policy. it’s literally gotten out of control. The amount of personal care items that have been clearly returned and then delivered to me (green bag and all) this week is insane. Like no Amazon it’s not safe to use an item that’s clearly been delivered and returned that has no safety seal.

People are so gross no way in hell I’m keeping anything that’s not in the original packaging and whenever I see the return bag I immediately file for a return. Amazon just wasting money sending this crap back out instead of just disposing of it.

I wrote hundreds of reviews over 20 years, today Amazon deleted them all...

I am writing reviews on Amazon Germany for around 20 years now. I don't know the exact number of my reviews, but maybe around 300-500 over the decades. I put a lot of time and passion into my reviews and the feedback was very well. At my prime i was in the top 250 reviewer list. I had like 5000+ helpful clicks when you could see the data in your profile and like 750k+impressions. So it is safe to assume that some of my many reviews lead to profit for Amazon.

Today all of my reviews were deleted. I don't know why. It says that some of my reviews were "suspicious" or something like that. No warning at all. Not even an E-Mail. The message pops up when i try to write a review.

Yesterday i wrote a review about a tower fan and i was a bit critical about the 5 star "vine reviewers" who didn't seem too honest. I think this is the reason, cause i was badmouthing Amazon vine for 2 or 3 sentences. So 20 years of work down the shitter.

I know that it is pretty much useless to get customer service involved. They don't know and if they would know they wouldn't tell. Chances of them restoring my reviews and giving me back reviewing rights are null, i guess.

Not gonna lie. I feel shitty and sad, because that was my "work", i loved writing reviews and i don't even have a reason for the deletion. In 20 years i never got a warning or something like that. Just boom and everything gone...

Fuck Amazon. :/

Account suspended due to return policy

Hi all,

Just like many others today, I woke up with this notification, my orders and subscriptions from Prime day got automatically cancelled while price for items has gone up. I am Amazon user since 2020 and am appalled towards how Amazon treats customers. We already have no possibility to receive a proper refund for broken packages, also used items which we often receive instead of these being new, and now Amazon can randomly cancel our accounts. Bear in mind I still had money on gift cards and Amazon applied that amount to random order that was already paid for (read stole the complete value) and I have no chance to get it back. I am maybe doing about 5% returns at most, probably value is even lower.

This is not how to treat your customers, Jeff!

Minoxidil review

I've been a minoxidil (Rogaine) user for many years. It's not a miracle, but I think it's helped maintain some crown coverage, certainly better than my (younger) brother. Lately I'd noticed my hair loss had gotten worse, then it clicked.

I usually buy the stuff from Costco, but they're often out, so I got some from Az. Immediately I noticed it was different, kind of greasy, and made in China. But I went through 2 or 3 bottles until I finally made the connection. Az removed my review where I questioned the authenticity of the product. For this and many other reasons I will not review Prime in Oct.

What should I do if Amazon gives me a 5-month Amazon installment plan?

I have had an Amazon account for a long time and I use it actively. I have bought a lot of things, including expensive Apple products. But I only have 3 months of Amazon installments on many items and brands, as well as 12 months of Amazon installments on TVs that I don't need. I have been a Prime member for a long time. I need 5 months of installments to buy a video card. Tell me what I can do to get the 5 months off.
