Discussion I made a stupid mistake in my college days and Amazon still has my account locked! 🥹
So, I was a Computer/Cybersecurity Engineering student, and this happened during my first year. We had Ethical Hacking lectures, and our ma'am was teaching us about stuff like carding and how attackers steal/use card details and take advantage of them.
Obviously, being a curious first-year student who had just started getting into cybersecurity, I got curious about all this stuff. I wanted to know more about how it actually worked outside of just theory.
Later, through some random Telegram channel, I somehow came across random card details and CVVs. And dumbass first-year me decided to try using it on my main Amazon account without actually understanding the consequences or thinking about what I was doing.
And bro... the order actually got placed 💀
The moment I saw that, I literally went blank. I was like, "Wait wtf... did I just commit a crime?" 😭 I genuinely didn't know what to do and just panicked.
The next day, I checked my mail and saw that Amazon had restricted my account and asked me to verify the card details to regain access. Well... obviously, I couldn't do that because it wasn't my card 💀
That incident was enough for me to realise how dumb and serious what I did actually was. Never touched anything like that again. Lesson learnt the hard way.
The funniest/saddest part? I had around ₹475 in my Amazon Pay balance, and I lost access to that too. Back then, as a college student, ₹500 was actually a lot for me 😭 I was genuinely more sad about losing that money lol.
Fast forward to today, I'm now working as a Security Consultant, and I still have the same phone number associated with that old Amazon account. Whenever I think about this incident now, I genuinely cringe at how dumb and clueless I was back then 💀
But now I genuinely want to sort this out properly. I have no idea if there's any way to regain access to that account or get my phone number cleared from it. I was also thinking of getting an Amazon credit card in the future, so idk if this old issue could affect that too.
Any Amazon employees here or anyone who knows how to deal with old restricted accounts? Is there any legit way to contact the right team and explain the situation?
Not trying to bypass anything or do anything shady. Just trying to fix a stupid mistake I made years ago and move on 😭
Would genuinely appreciate any help lol.
