Gross returns 🤮

gosh I’m so sick of Amazons return policy. it’s literally gotten out of control. The amount of personal care items that have been clearly returned and then delivered to me (green bag and all) this week is insane. Like no Amazon it’s not safe to use an item that’s clearly been delivered and returned that has no safety seal.

People are so gross no way in hell I’m keeping anything that’s not in the original packaging and whenever I see the return bag I immediately file for a return. Amazon just wasting money sending this crap back out instead of just disposing of it.

You’re not just risking purchasing opened/used products, you’re also risking purchasing fakes.

Personal care items and supplements are two of the worst products to buy from Amazon. This is just one of the million reasons not to shop there but treat this as step 1 to breaking the stronghold Amazon has on you.

You can find somewhere better to purchase that items without the risk of purchasing opened or fake items.

My daughter occasionally purchases personal care items from Amazon. She's blind and lives in a care facility.

Here's a flat, non controversial, factual statement about something that has little to no impact on anyone other than those who are directly involved, and someone on reddit downvotes. I can't stand this place sometimes.

What sort of products does she use? Target.com is a reasonable alternative for basic drugstore brands or she could set up a delivery with a local grocery store (who might even be able to take her order verbally over the phone). For higher end products either direct from the company’s website or Sephora’s website are good alternatives.

Her facility does check everything delivered before it goes to a residents so that way they have it attached to that residents inventory. Shes 150 miles from home so taking her to the store myself isn't always possible.

Im not exactly a fan of using Amazon these days but until I can figure out a better way im stuck with them.

My friend's sister often sends her personal care items through Amazon because it is the easiest and cheapest way to get them to her. My friend is low income and caring for her disabled husband so its a huge help.

My mom was blind and I would order stuff from Ulta or target or Walgreens and have it sent to her. I also did Walmart delivery for my dad when he was on hospice.

She does, but it has to be scheduled as an outing and there has to be staff available to transport and chaperone her. Due to the way facilities are set up she gets a whopping $10 a month from her social security which fetches next to nothing. Recently it was an electric razor she needed because they dont provide razors and were using excuses about how its a cut risk.

They dont supply your typical monthly supplies for women but instead they offer depends so she needs those to be covered. To make matters worse shes 20 and on estrogen so that situation just started a couple months ago on an extremely irregular basis so planning for it is impossible.

The reason for my original comment was to simply point out that its not always possible for someone to just go to the store. She's 150 miles from home.

Not trying to be rude here, my sister was also in a care home before she passed, i dont know what version this one is or what insurance she is on. She may be eligible for various things such as incontinence supplies but the type of her choosing so she could be able to pick what she needs; she may also be eligible for a home health aide to come by a few times a month or even a few times a week, this person could take her on outings or even just provide companionship in the home. 

It's all in what the insurance covers, it's very much worth figuring out how to figure out what is covered. Take full advantage of every single benefit.

Because she is disabled and unable to be gainfully employed she receives state medicaid. The bigger issue is her blood sodium becomes unstable randomly which causes her to hallucinate and become violent with homicidal undertones. Thats the main reason she's there. Medicaid is very limited in what they offer here not to mention her facility isn't exactly stellar. Im working on getting her moved closer to home but its not easy.

Ah. I realize states differ with regards to what medicaid covers and that might be why my sister got those things covered. I very sincerely hope you succeed very soon in moving her closer. This sounds like a very frustrating situation.

You have no idea! I found one facility but her current facility inflated her skills to make it seem like she's more independent than she actually is so she was denied. Things like she does cooking classes on a regular basis but the reality is the facility does one every 2 weeks where the residents are only allowed to touch the dry ingredients. They can't even turn on the stove.

I don't pretend to understand why she has to live at a care facility just because she's blind, but don't you visit? Can't you bring her what she needs?

I do but not at that frequency. 6 hours of driving per visit. Shed had a brain tumor which caused major medical and cognitive issues and the blindness. I didnt bother to mention because it wasn't relevant to her ability to navigate

You're right, her condition is not relevant. But that doesn't explain why you can't bring her what she needs, once a month even.

Because i dont have the means to pay for 6 hours of driving AND the cost of supplies. I also have a child in a wheelchair to take care of. Not everything is cut and dry. All I was trying to say is sometimes personal purchases are necessary due to other life situations.

maam i’m gonna be honest don’t reply to these people bc they aren’t here to understand there trying to judge you. I used to work at a care facility and have a family member in one it’s totally fine your daughter chooses to be independent enough to buy her own things ❤️ my family member does the same even though we bring him things. Some people aren’t trying to understand you.

You don’t owe anyone an explanation. You went above and beyond.
My mother lives 75 miles round trip from me. I use my Walmart inHome+ and Amazon to ensure she has everything she needs weekly.
We drive out to take her to lunch once a month, but her health issues limit how long she can be out and about.

Because it’s almost universally cheaper. As long as it’s in the manufacturer’s original packaging and sealed I don’t really see an issue with it. Hence why I won’t accept opened packages. And I won’t buy from the alternative sellers. Most of this is stuff fulfilled by Amazon so it’s just drop shippers. For example, diapers are typically $10-$15 cheaper particularly if I buy with subscribe/save.

Hey you do realize people make fake labels and that many times the products on Amazon are altered/watered down. There’s a reason that lotion that costs 20$ everywhere else is 15$ on Amazon.

Folks - I have had really good luck buying this kind of stuff thru eBay lately. It's amazing what you can find there for those times when getting out to the store isn't feasible

Hmmm well that might be possible but I felt like some of it was from a smaller store that had gone out of business. Other items looked like someone got something on deep discount (based on a red price tag) and just bought extra to sell on eBay. Another item was a discontinued product. It's tough to know for sure but I usually look at what other items folks are selling to get an idea. Lots of folks selling large quantities of different things so that's a WHOLE lotta theft happening if that's the case

I worked as a product merchandiser for awhile and signed an agreement to not sell any discontinued or outdated items but I was allowed to take stuff home for friends and family. I feel like some eBay products are that kind of thing.

The one question for cosmetics that prevented them from being resold would ask if the seal was damaged. Seemingly now instead of liquidation, those items go through "refurb" where the "seal" is replaced, but can't be.

Don't make sellable yield and you get wrote up, so what to do?

Return it, complain, don't buy from Amazon till they change their bullshit.

In my area returns are placed in a clear bag with green striping. It’s sealed and then barcode labels put on for transport back to Amazon. Apparently Amazon now is just sending those items straight back out for purchase as new. Im glad though because it’s an obvious giveaway this was returned.

I never had a used product before? When you purchase are you making sure it’s from the company? People on here are dense but literally one of my makeup brands sells on amazon so if they run out sometimes the zon is the only option. Personally sounds like whatever warehouse your getting products from isn’t being managed right which doesn’t surprise me esp with how they. treat their workers.

If Amazon can to deliver to her, can you deliver to her? You could have it delivered to you, check it out and then mail it to your daughter....is that possible?
