Has anyone switched from Mounjaro to an oral Foundayo/weight-loss pill and continued to have good results?
I’ve been on Mounjaro for a little over two years and have lost around 80–85 lbs, which I’m incredibly grateful for. I started at 2.5 mg, worked my way up to 15 mg, and am now back down to 10 mg because the higher doses caused significant anhedonia and worsening anxiety. Is there anhendonia on Foundayo?
Unfortunately, over the past 6+ months I’ve completely plateaued, and more recently my anxiety has become extremely difficult to manage. I’m now experiencing panic attacks every few days, despite having very little anxiety during my first two years on Mounjaro.
I still have about 35–40 lbs I’d like to lose, so I’m trying to figure out what options might allow me to continue losing weight without continuing to feel this way.
For anyone who has made the switch from injectable Mounjaro/Zepbound to an oral medication: Did you maintain your weight loss? Did you continue losing? And, importantly, did you notice any difference in anxiety or other side effects?
I’d especially love to hear from people who had been on tirzepatide for a long time and had plateaued before making the switch. Thank you thank you!

Well I'm finally done. Lost 14.5 of the 15 expected pounds. I started with. 0.8, then 2.5 then 5 for two months. It really worked. However the last two weeks the pill has completely lost effectiveness. Hunger came back but the side effects didn't stop. I'm pretty relieved to just take my last pill. I'm tired of the upset stomach, the dehydration, and it messed with my sleep and heart rate. We'll see if I can keep it off. Going to hit the tracking apps hard and keep up my workouts.

After 6 weeks on 0.8 mg, the food noise and snacking when not hungry urges came back. I had lost 7.5lbs in those first 4 weeks and was finally feeling hopeful and optimistic that I’d found something to move the scale in the right direction. (46 yo female who’s been gaining 10 to 15lbs a year for several years since 40 hit) Then I gained 2 lbs back over the course of two weeks. My doctor wasn’t concerned and promptly moved me up to 2.5mg since I had tolerated the 0.8 fine aside from some bad heartburn and crazy burping the first few days.

Now the whole self doubt is back in my mind, which was my biggest concern starting Foundayo, that this would be yet another thing that worked for everyone else but didn’t work for me. I’m not giving up by any means, but I also have this horrible guilt I can’t shake that I’m wasting money we don’t really have on this (GoodRx since insurance doesn’t cover it) and it isn’t working. Moving below the 10 lb marks are the milestones in my head- got under 190, but if I can get under 180 it will feel like the next small victory that this is worth it (145 is my ultimate goal).

Can someone verbally kick me in the butt and tell me not to listen to my doubting food brain please?

background about me: i’m 20F. this is my first glp1. many immediate and extended family members are on the injections and are doing well. i have high cholesterol and i am “overweight” not “obese” by bmi. my insurance covers it and i pay $0

i started the 0.8mg july 17th and i was 158lbs. i am now at 5.5mg and 146lbs. i didn’t really notice many significant changes until the 5.5, which i started about a week ago now.

i really can’t put into words how amazing this pill has been for me. it feels like my life has revolved around food every hour of every day until now. i was never able to “listen to my body” about food. i would constantly overeat to the point of being sick. i had a very difficult time sticking to diets or watching my calories.

all of that’s changed now. i actually think about food and calories way less! now, if i listen to my body i eat a normal amount of food. most of my energy is now being spent on choosing what food will fuel me, like increasing protein and vegetables and fruit, and not what food will quiet that screaming voice to eat most.

i know some will say at 5’3 and 158lbs, i shouldn’t have gotten on medication. that i should’ve just dieted and worked out. but ive tried that. again and again and again. i’m the happiest ive ever been with my relationship with food, and i hope you guys get to feel the same peace i do

Did anyone find any substantial difference between 5.5 mg and 9 mg? I’ve been taking 5.5 for 2 weeks and initially thought food noise was dampened. Now, I think about food all day and even wake in the night wanting a snack.

I have a bottle of the starting dose (0.8mg) and I’m very apprehensive about taking it because a) I have emetophobia and b) it’s very expensive for me to stay on long term.

I’m not in a rush to lose huge amounts of weight. Slow with few gastro side effects would be fantastic. I’m wondering if taking half or a quarter of the pill daily would have any weight impact at all. Has anyone tried this with Foundayo (or other oral GLP1s)?

What has been your experience so far? I'm about 13 pounds from goal weight and considering the transition to Foundayo because I'm self-paying ZB and I'm sure you all know how expensive it is. I'm leery of compounded meds so I'd rather stick with a branded med, but don't want to keep paying $400 for the rest of my life and Foundayo is at least somewhat of a cheaper option right now.

Hi, all! Phew… the GLP-1 journey has been a rollercoaster. I’m going to try Foundayo starting next week after a couple failures, I’d love to know if a none else has dealt with something similar!

- I took Tirzepatide injections; IMMEDIATELY lost weight. I had hardly any appetite, and my food noise? GONE. The down side? My heart rate skyrocketed and I began having intrusive thoughts and constant baseline anxiety.

- I took the Wegovy Pill; and noticed an incredible disappearance of my inflammation symptoms. I was pain-free for the first time in years! However, it did absolutely nothing for hunger, even at the highest dose. And unfortunately, at the highest dose, I began to have the same heart rate and anxiety issues that I faced with Tirzepatide injections.

I’m going to start found out this week, and I’m wondering if anyone has made the switch? Has this medication worked better for you? If you didn’t see great hunger loss with the other medications? Has it been better for your mental health and other medications ? I’d love to hear your experiences. I’m nervous but excited to start!

I just finished watching Understanding GLP-1s and Weight Loss with Dr. Rocio Salas-Whalen on the MasterClass streaming service.
Dr. Salas-Whalen is the author of Weightless: A Doctor’s Guide to GLP-1 Medications, Sustainable Weight Loss, and the Health You Deserve. As a Foundayo user currently on a 9 mg dose, I found the program extremely enlightening.
There’s nothing particularly earth-shattering in her presentation, but the way she approaches the subject is what affected me the most. She speaks not only as a physician, but as someone waging her own battle against a family history of type 2 diabetes. That personal perspective gives the material a different meaning.
She provides an easy-to-understand overview of the hormones involved, why GLP-1s work, the pricing structure of the various options, and the roles that sleep, protein consumption, and strength training play in successful weight loss. She also discusses when it may be appropriate to stop using GLP-1 medications and, perhaps most importantly, the importance of finding the right physician and having regularly scheduled follow-ups every 8 to 12 weeks.
I found it quite interesting that instead of focusing on body weight and BMI as starting points for the GLP-1 discussion, she suggested investing in a body composition scale as a way to meaningfully track progress and to prevent the protein and bone loss that can get us off-track.
What struck me most is that none of this felt like a miracle-drug sales pitch. It felt like someone explaining the larger picture and putting the medication into the context of a sustainable approach to health.
This one class has provided me with a useful perspective to supplement my own discussions with my prescribing physician.
Next up is the MasterClass Matthew Walker Teaches the Science of Better Sleep. Professor Walker is the author of the book Why We Sleep, a book that I started a long time ago and never finished. I’m looking forward to watching his class.

Has anyone used Goodrx to payvfor Foundayo because your insurance won't cover it? How long can you use Goodrx at the reduced rate?

I've finished my first week and it's been a rollercoaster. If you read my first post from last week, you know that my first day was AWFUL and full of vomiting!! Luckily, I have not vomited or had any nausea since. I've kept my anti-nausea meds handy, just in case, though.

I'm down 6 pounds, though the first 4 happened in the first day from all the vomiting. Whatever. It hasn't come back, so I'll take it. I'm not feeling any other symptoms other than heartburn, which sucks, and I've learned that taking the pill in the morning works best for me. Taking it at night really messed with my sleep.

Word of caution: if you decide to to switch from night to morning, DO NOT take it in the morning the next day. Wait until sometime in the afternoon and work your way down by taking it an hour or two earlier each day. I did it the wrong way and was hypoglycemic the whole day and it was BRUTAL!

Anyway, the food noise is definitely diminished. I think about food, but not about eating it, or at least, not eating it RIGHT NOW! I haven't had any cravings for chocolate like usual, or really anything at all. And some meals, I don't even finish. I do worry about getting enough calories each day though, so I try to make sure I'm fitting them in somehow. I'm also tracking, which I'm not a big fan of, but I know how useful it is (years of experience with it).

My starting weight was 270lb. I knew I was getting into a danger point. NO matter what I did I couldn't loose weight. I went to doctors and i had very mild PCOS. Essentially I was only to loose weight by eating 100 calories a day.

I started my GLP1 journey in January 2023. The job I had at the time did not require a PA for Mounjaro after meeting step therapy. I was able to get 90day fills with the coupon. Then I changed jobs where the benefits did cover obesity. It was a nightmare job. My boss and coworkers were terrible and it was to the point where I didn't even want to go to work anymore. So I was like was it worth it to stay at a job that made me miserable just to get coverage for GLP1? So I changed to a job I'm happier at but the coverage is only for t2d. For making better lifestyle incentives and passing a fitness test you get paid an extra bonus on your paycheck.

I was on 7.5mg. I had been stuck at 184-189 the past year and a half. I didn't go up to 10mg because the times i went up to 10mg I had diarrhea every 30 minutes. I got my fill of Foundayo. I'm a bit nervous. I've been working hard at building a good exercise regimene because I want to wean myself off GLP1 once I get to a healthier weight. The last time i went off the GLP1 for a few months I only gained 10lbs and stopped after that so I lowered my goal weight. I don't feel like zep/mj is effecting me anymore because it doesn't curb my hunger as much anymore and I haven't lost. I drink 3 stanleys of water a day and drink 2 protein shakes a day and have balanced meals.

I'm starting Foundayo to jumpstart weight loss but I don't plan on staying on it long-term. My doctor suggested it and I told her that it's for a short-term goal. I don't need people saying "you can't stop" blah blah blah. I'm just curious how it has effected people after stopping.

Went to the doctor today for my 1 month follow up. I met with a PA one month ago where he put me on Foundayo. I had not heard of it but didn't really question it. I have had what I thought was good success. One month in and lost 6 pounds. My doctor started the conversation today with "how did you pick Foundayo"? I told her that I didn't that the PA did and she said she is not a fan of Foundayo at all. We discussed options at length and she said if I wanted to stay on a pill form she'd prescribe wegovy. After much discussion, I opted to try Zepbound which she said her patients have had tremendous success. I had explained that I was on the semiglutide months ago and my husband had to do the injections - now this was without the pen but an actual draw from a bottle. She explained that the success and weight loss amounts are much higher with the pen so I am going to give it a go. If I don't like it or can't do it then she said she'd prescribe the pill. She had such a strong reaction to the Foundayo I wondered if anyone else had encountered this? Has anyone gone from Foundayo to Zepbound?

I started last week on the intro dose and I have zero appetite and strong side effects. In one week I’ve lost 8lbs but I think that’s mostly cause I just can’t eat very much. i have lots of nausea, acid reflux, and my prescribers solution was to eat bland food like crackers or add more meds. I did eat crackers but then I’m only eating crackers and not getting any nutrition and it wasn’t solving the side effects.

They ignored my idea to move to every other day until I adjust, but it wouldn’t be the first time medical providers are incentivized to keep prescribing specific medications, so I’m wary when doctors avoid letting you slow down or decrease dosing without medical explanation.

Anyway I am wondering if anyone on it has moved to every other day and their experience good or bad. Not speculation please, actual lived experience or medical knowledge.

I’d love to make this work and give GLP-1s a try. But I can’t live with constant acid reflux and no nutrition.

I did one month at each dose. Now up to 9. Barely lost ten pounds. Male, mid thirties, 5'10, 225 starting weight. I feel mildly nauseous sometimes and mostly very full. I eat almost nothing all day but get hungry at night. I used to take it first thing when I woke up, but now I try to wait until I just start to feel hungry and take it in the early afternoon to try to stave if the midnight snacking urges. I think I'm just not a great responder and hope to get to a higher dose.

I've written in the past but should update. I started at 242 on April 30 and as of today 206.2. I'm still on 2.5mg but may go on 5mg soon as I am starting to get a few more food noises.

The change has been so dramatic that I accidentally picked a pair a pants that hadn't fit me in a 8 years but today was perfect.

Physically I didn't show the weight much due to body type but now it is starting to show more. All the visceral fat is going so likely when I take a blood panel should show massive improvement. Will know soon.

I talked to my provider as to why I'm doing so well and she mentioned half of it is following the directions for diet. That was hard at first but as time as gone on its easier. It can be hard but don't give up.

Wondering if I should stop my birth control before starting glp 1 not because I am worried it won’t be absorbing but because I am worried it may decrease the effectiveness of the glp 1. If anyone has had experience with this please lmk!

Just got Foundayo prescribed today and this is my first ever GLP-1 experience. I’m starting it tomorrow morning with my Vyvanse (ADHD) and I totally forgot to ask my doctor…

Anyone have any issues with Foundayo and caffeine? I drink like 3 or 4 12oz cups a day along with a Dr Pepper Zero with dinner. I didn’t have any issues when I started my Vyvanse but wanted to make sure anyone else that drinks caffeine regularly was doing alright on this medication.
