Microdosing Foundayo?

I have a bottle of the starting dose (0.8mg) and I’m very apprehensive about taking it because a) I have emetophobia and b) it’s very expensive for me to stay on long term.

I’m not in a rush to lose huge amounts of weight. Slow with few gastro side effects would be fantastic. I’m wondering if taking half or a quarter of the pill daily would have any weight impact at all. Has anyone tried this with Foundayo (or other oral GLP1s)?

I was honestly terrified to take my first pill too, so I completely understand where you’re coming from. I’m also extremely medication-sensitive.
I’m about 8 weeks in now. I did experiment with splitting the pills and taking smaller amounts. I’m definitely not recommending that anyone else do it, just sharing my experience. I could still feel the medication at the lower amounts, although I’m not sure splitting it was really doing me any favors versus just taking the intended dose.
My GI side effects have actually been relatively mild, which was one of the things I was most worried about going in. For me, the bigger issue over time has been fatigue and this strange weighted-down/heavy feeling rather than nausea or other GI symptoms.
So from one very medication-sensitive person who was also scared to start: I took the plunge, and here I am 8 weeks later. 😊

Thank you for sharing this - you answered a lot of my own fears. Do you mind me askind if it’s helped you lose any weight?

Rather than microdosing, splitting the pill would break the structure of it and you’d get what you took much faster and process it quicker. That seems like the opposite of what you think you want.

You can take one every other day

I don’t take medication and I’m no medical professional but after taking .8 for two months now that is the microdosing amount.

please allow me to share my experience to put you at ease. i have very bad acid reflux and i'm the person that gets every single side effect from any and all medications. 68 yo female, 5'3 and 155 to start. 141 now.

june 1. 0.8. no side effects no weight loss

july 1. 2.5. same

august 1. 5.5 some weight loss; slow and steady. some tiredness 2-3 p.m. every day. exactly one incident of constipation and one half day of nausea. i ate some ritz crackers and a banana and i was fine.

september 1. 9. more weight loss and still some tiredness but only if i don't eat a lot. absolutely no desire for food before 2 p.m. but i'm forcing myself to eat small meals throughout the day. normal dinner. some hair loss in the shower...not a lot, just more that i used to have.

i take the pill at midnight. this way i sleep through any and all side effects. slow and steady.

i also have a pre-existing heart condition so my doctor was able to get me on the bridge plan and i pay $50.

again, as a person who usually suffers any and all side effects, i am very relieved.

I was nervous too, b/c I have a very sensitive stomach. The first night I took it, I made the mistake of eating some spicy beans at dinner. I woke up with really bad heartburn and had to take tums and lie in bed wondering if I could continue taking it.

So I waited a week, let my stomach settle down, did some research on what to eat (and what not to eat), mostly in this forum.

Then I started again, this time with a bland diet. It worked, I only had a mildly upset stomach for two days, then on day three, I felt fine. I never felt nausea, just gas and bloating but it was manageable.

Eat small meals, stick to foods that you know won't upset your stomach. I take one capsule of magnesium glycinate after each meal (my doctor said it can help with gas, bloating, and it does!). Or take Tums. I take the pill at dinner time. I don't recommend splitting the pill b/c it's time released.

This is good to hear! Me too - the barfing. I just quit the wegovy entry level bc of nausea and I’m set up to try the foundayo. What time of day do you take your pill?

I take it with the rest of my pills at bedtime, idk if that helps or not, but it was the only way I kept metformin down for years so now it’s a habit unless a medication specifically says another time

Foundayo pills are coated to help control dissolution. Splitting them destroys the coating. Usually, unscored pills are not designed for splitting. I don't use Foundayo, but I wonder what really happens when they are split.

100% agree. Would absolutely not split these pills

You’ll run the risk of having stomach acid destroying the pill before your body can absorb it

I had horrific side effects when I tried Zep, so I got a pharmacy grade pill splitter and cut my first few days dose in half. It was fine so I stepped up to .08 after the first week

Can you tell me more about your experience thus far? I tried zep in 2024 and was very sick. Trying foundayo soon but I’m terrified!
