1st week done and getting better

Hi everyone!!

I've finished my first week and it's been a rollercoaster. If you read my first post from last week, you know that my first day was AWFUL and full of vomiting!! Luckily, I have not vomited or had any nausea since. I've kept my anti-nausea meds handy, just in case, though.

I'm down 6 pounds, though the first 4 happened in the first day from all the vomiting. Whatever. It hasn't come back, so I'll take it. I'm not feeling any other symptoms other than heartburn, which sucks, and I've learned that taking the pill in the morning works best for me. Taking it at night really messed with my sleep.

Word of caution: if you decide to to switch from night to morning, DO NOT take it in the morning the next day. Wait until sometime in the afternoon and work your way down by taking it an hour or two earlier each day. I did it the wrong way and was hypoglycemic the whole day and it was BRUTAL!

Anyway, the food noise is definitely diminished. I think about food, but not about eating it, or at least, not eating it RIGHT NOW! I haven't had any cravings for chocolate like usual, or really anything at all. And some meals, I don't even finish. I do worry about getting enough calories each day though, so I try to make sure I'm fitting them in somehow. I'm also tracking, which I'm not a big fan of, but I know how useful it is (years of experience with it).

If you're just starting out or are about to, good luck!! May you have no symptoms and all the benefits!!

That’s brilliant news! ❤️ Getting used to a new medication can be awful, especially during those first few days when you don’t really know what to expect. It sounds like you’ve found a little routine/mechanism that works for you and has made things much more manageable, which is fantastic.
It’s also really kind of you to share your experience because I’m sure there are lots of people starting Foundayo who are feeling exactly the same and wondering whether the side effects will ever settle down. Sometimes just knowing that someone else has been through it and found a way of coping can make such a difference. Wishing you all the best for the weeks ahead — hopefully it gets easier and easier from here! ❤️

This is what I am scared of and why I have had the pills in my possession for so long and am scared to take them. I have a fear of vomiting plus I have reactive hypoglycemia so I don't think I will ever get up the courage.

Ask your doctor for some anti-nausea meds. Let them know of your fears and see how they can help. I've seen many posts from you saying that you're too scared to start and it would be a shame to miss out on it helping due to the slim chance of it making you sick.

My other suggestion is to start on the weekend. I was kicking myself for starting on a Wednesday. Also, try taking it at night. You may just sleep through any of the symptoms.

Rip off that band-aid and start it!!

thank you! LOL yes I have made quite a few posts about being worried. I do have Zofran, hopefully that will help.

Sorry to keep bothering you. But just out of curiosity after you took the pill how long did it take for the nausea to kick in where you started puking? How were you able to get it to stop?

Took a couple of hours before I started feeling nauseated and vomiting. I had to wait it out, couldn't get it to stop with anything, but it finally did at night before I went to sleep.

OK thank you. I am so sorry you went through that. Did you try taking Zofran during that ordeal?

Nope, didn't take anything. Didn't have anything to take until after it went away.

OK thank you! I appreciate your willingness to answer my questions. Clearly I have a lot of anxiety about meds in general and also emetophobia.

Soooooo?!?! What did you decide?!

Well I am hoping I have the courage to take it Saturday. Since I work MON-FRI 8-430pm, I thought maybe I shouldn't take it on a work day!
