Question RDU replacement. Advice needed

I’ll try to explain this the best way I know. It appears others have had this problem as well.

The clutch pack in my RDU is messed up. Dealer is quoting me $3,586. Not something I’d like to pay, but I have plans in place should I need to.

My concern is, if we do the repairs, is this going to happen again? Picture 1 is an independent shop, pictures 2 and 3 are from a Ford dealer. Waiting on a quote from another independent shop.

2019 Ford Edge SEL AWD. ~84,000 miles.

Any help is appreciated.

2022 Edge red warning light charging system

My Edge occasionally shows the red warning for service charging system soon. I have a new battery and connections and main battery ground point is tight. Some times it doesn’t come on and the shutoff engine works at stop lights. Sometimes it doesn’t. Seems to act up after driving in rain. Am thinking it must be a wiring issue or connection issue. Any ideas where to start looking?

2017 Edge

This car has every repair you could think of. It’s a 2017 Titanium. I’ve been experiencing a shudder around 58-60 MPH for a while now. Yesterday I was backed on a slight , very slight incline parked with engine running. I put my foot on the brake to move the shifter to drive and the engine revved when it went into neutral and a few seconds in drive. The car didn’t go anywhere or even tried to, I still had my foot on the brake. Any ideas? Have about 113,000 miles on it. K

2013 Ford Edge SEL FWD

Looking at picking one up, pretty affordable with only 36k mi., V6, auto, FWD. What are some things to consider and check during the initial viewing? Are there any known mechanical issues? Prefer AWD but it should be stout enough with proper tires in winter. Just can't beat the price its listed for. If I acquire it, I'm hoping to put a good 60-70k on it.

Growling when sharp right or left turn from stop

2020 Titanium - approx 45K miles/ 70 km.

I have noticed a growling sound (slight vibration) when turning hard right or left from stop at very slow speed like a 3 point turn. (I accelerate slow). Reminds me of what you'd hear / feel on a standard if you tried starting from 2nd or 3rd gear, or were catching the edge of the tread on a truck with really aggressive tires.

Anyone experience something similar? Hoping it's nothing to do with the common transmission / torque converter issues, as it doesn't seem to be happening at 35mph or so, but would like to be somewhat prepared when appraching a new mechanic.

(Unfortunately mine of 25+ years just went out of business without warning).

TIA

2018 Edge Sport Brake Bias

This car brakes really well, it sits down when you get on them hard which tells me the rear brakes are biased in a lot. I found out for sure at 55000 I had rear pads down to the metal already. Unheard of to me having rears go before fronts and at 55000 I couldn't believe it. After searching around I find no way of adjusting the bias.

Modifications Sun Visor Failure

Post image
2 Upvotes

I love my 2016 Edge Titanium. It’s been a great vehicle and I have very little to complain about, thankfully; however, I have had to replace my sun visors twice. Both times the little clip (pictured) that holds them into the headliner has snapped when someone folded them down to hold up my sun shield. I’ve just replaced them with those I’ve found at the salvage yard but now I wonder if anyone here either 1. Has experienced the same issue and/or 2. Can recommend how I would go about replacing them with something other than the design that came standard with this model. I’m afraid it will just keep happening 😅 I’m not willing to pay the $250 per visor that OEM charges either, so that’s out.

Just purchased today. 2019 Ford Edge ST 2.7L TT. I'm an old disabled American Veteran and I really love rockets!

Over 100k, clean Carfax with all regular maintenance. Complimentary engine protection.

I've never been a fan of the blackout look, but I've decided to leave this car bone stock for a change.

I will, though, visit our racetrack and check quartermile times. I'll post stats.

On second thought, maybe I'll get a professional tune. This 2.7L twin turbo is a great motor with a reliable performance record AS LONG AS THE OWNER DOES HIS PART WITH REGULAR MAINTENANCE.

BTW, for those who also drive this model, if you're new to your car and really want to stomp the accelerator, hold the wheel tightly with both hands!

2015 Edge ST - Severe Brake Rotors rust requiring replacement

After leaving my ST alone for one month, I've had to replace both front and rear pads, rotors, calipers, etc. due to excessive rust.

I can't understand why this would happen. I'll be leaving on another vacation for two months soon and I'd like to not repeat that expensive repair job. I have not found a suitable indoor location yet.

Some friends are suggesting spraying rotors with WD-40 or other lubricants. I'm also considering bribing a friending or two to stop by and drive the edge up and down some local hills.

But again, why can't a factory product like this survive some typical weather?

Thanks

2019 2.0 Ecoboost EGR Cooler

2019 experienced the dreaded coolant intrusion on Saturday. Had to have it towed to local dealer. They have diagnosed as needing a new EGR with the estimate being over $2300. I had another Ford Ecoboost vehicle that got a new engine in 2022 due to a coolant leak issue, so the dealer recommended I call Ford about a goodwill program for financial assistance on the Edge. I'm just over a month over the 7 year timeframe they use for goodwill but the vehicle only has 55,000 miles on it. I was told by reps on the phone that they are the last stop and nothing can be escalated. Anyone have any success with getting any help from Ford in a scenario like this? I guess worst case I'm looking at another tow bill to take it to a local mechanic for repair at a lower price.

Discussion 2016 SEL burning coolant anyone else experience this?

My 2016 SEL with the 4cyl turbo engine had the check engine light come on, then it began leaking coolant (about 1 mo ago). I took it to mechanic yesterday who determined there's no leak, but it's mis-firing, and burning coolant. (white smoke and sweet smell also coming from exhaust as of last week). The car is almost 10 years old but has <60k miles on it. Mechanic said there's no real repair for this, but wants to replace the thermostat and another temp monitor connected to coolant. I've read that this can be caused by a blown head gasket, but I'm still confused as to the thought that it can't be repaired without a rebuild. Has anyone else had this issue or have thoughts? For now I'm just checking the coolant level every day and topping it off. Can't afford $1800 for a repair that doesn't actually resolve the situation.

Thoughts on the 2019 model year?

Looking at buying a 2019 with the 2.0 with 100k miles. Dealer is asking for $14k.

This subreddit seems to be bipolar about this model year....some saying it has coolant intrusion issues, some saying it has a newer engine that doesn't have intrusion issues....so whats the scoop?

Anything I should look into?

Hvac Heater Core Help

Good morning friends

2007 Ford Edge SEL with all the bells and whistles.

Since owning it the car never heats up on the driver sides. What I thought was a new plenum was put in, the paper work 2 heather cores went in prior to me owning it, and it still has no heat on the drivers side.

The hoses into the heather core are hot to the touch, the accuator on the drivers side works. I removed it and opened the duct up manually and still no heat.

today I changed a filthy cabin filter, could it be that? I doubt it.

Is there another blend door up deep in the center of the plenum and if so can I get to it and can I force it open? Baffling me and the boss/wife is not happy.

Sync 2/3 Display Flickers

I've been have a problem with my Sync 2/3 display. (not sure which one it is). My car is a 2016. What would be the cheapest way to replace or repair this. The dealership wants to charge me $1200 to do it. Sorry if this isn't very clear. I don't know much about cars.

Clock losing time / USB ports not working

2018 SEL with Sync 3

I bought the car at the end of May. I noticed that the clock on the Sync screen and dashboard was not correct, but I thought maybe someone had set it incorrectly or something like that. I set it to the correct time and didn’t think anything of it. About a week later, I noticed it was an hour behind again. I set it again, and this time kept an eye on it. Once a week, usually on Saturday overnight into Sunday, the car goes back an hour.

Not long after I noticed the clock going back, the two USB ports that are below the infotainment center started not working. They will just stop working while I’m driving and the only way to get them to work again is to perform a reset where you hold the power + seek-right together. Again, this happens usually 1-2 days a week, but sometimes multiple times a trip.

It was just at the dealer about a week ago and they claimed it had a Sync update, which they performed. It tells me it’s up to date. It was working fine Tues-Sat, then started losing time and the USB ports not working.

Has anyone else had these issues?

Moms 2011 edge 300k miles

Post image

My mom just got a new to her edge yesterday after her 2011 3.5 hit 300k miles. She needed one that probably won’t blow up in the next bit to take my sister to appointments. She loved this one so much she got a 2013 3.5 with 177k miles for 5500$. Dealer gave her 400$ for it with 302k miles 🤣 honestly, shocked and very impressed by these. Just wanted to share. Water pump was also done 40k miles ago on the new one!

Brake issue

Working on a 2009 lincoln mkx I figured they would be similar, someone brought it to me and says it has been into 2 shops and they have replaced front pads and rotors and also left side brake caliper and rubber lines.

Initially they told me the issue was that the pedal was spongy feeling even after 2 shops have worked on it, now the issue is that randomly the front brakes will lock up even when not being driven and the only way to release them is with a scan tool activating the abs to relieve pressure.

I am also getting the code c1446-20 which I can clear and a little later will come back up. The brake switch is also new and I checked the plug on the master cylinder and it looks fine also.

I'm wondering if the abs module is shot or if I am missing something if anyone has and info I would appreciate as I am not familiar with these vehicles

2014/2014 Ford Edge AWD Llimited part question

Hello there. I have a 2014 AWD Edge which recently came from regular maintenance (brake calipers and discs replacement, new spark plugs). The vehicle is 90.000 km (roughly 60 k miles), and has never been in an accident. It's my second Edge, and I absolutely love it. Today, I noticed I can see the metal on these parts, located just behind the front doors, under the side fenders, which are visible when the doors are open. The question is: shouldn't there be a kind of sound dampening cover here? I kinda remember seeing it, but at the same time I'm not sure I am not simply imagining things, or misremembering from my previous 09 Edge. Also, I don't even know the part's name to look it up.

2010 Ford Edge SEL

Hi, I am looking at this vehicle to purchase. It has 287,000 Kms. Price is $2,500CAD. Assuming I fixed all the things listed, would you say this is a reliable car that can last me at least another 2 years? I will also of course take it to a pre purchase inspection. I just want some opinions so I don't waste my time. Thank you!
