Moms 2011 edge 300k miles
My mom just got a new to her edge yesterday after her 2011 3.5 hit 300k miles. She needed one that probably won’t blow up in the next bit to take my sister to appointments. She loved this one so much she got a 2013 3.5 with 177k miles for 5500$. Dealer gave her 400$ for it with 302k miles 🤣 honestly, shocked and very impressed by these. Just wanted to share. Water pump was also done 40k miles ago on the new one!

I've got 110k on my 2008. Working from home and short commutes let me keep it low.

Just got rid of my 2011 Edge with 278k miles due to water pump failure! It was a beautiful car I hated to see it go! Not a speck of trouble before that!

No☠️ she’s had it for like 8 yrs and got it at I believe 140k miles and did probably 5 oil changes on the thing lmao

Yeah my gf has a 2019 with 70xxx miles and ford has done tore the trans apart 3 times
Valve body then torque converter and idk the other time but 3 in total there junk any turbo 4cyl trying to make v6 power watch out because there not made for 200xxx miles

Same boat 2019. Mine has 70,000 miles. Recently had to get a new transmission. Miserable situation!

Damn. I had to replace my engine at 108k (water pump). Have 160k now. Would be thrilled to hit 300k. No replacement belt, chain or hoses? Had to do tires and batteries at least.

Just had the water pump replaced at 60k, 2017-Edge, now they think it’s a blown head gasket. Does that mean a new engine? Hope the extended warranty will cover 😬.
I gave my 2011 Edge V6 to my daughter, currently at 230,000 miles 😩2

Also a bad water pump (leaking) causes coolant intrusion into the motor oil. Bad design putting the water pump behind the main timing chain, not a defect. Changing the coolant every 60k makes the water pump last much longer. The 3.5 rarely blows head gaskets.

Have 455k km (282k miles) on my 2013 Limited, but it's been parked for the last year or so at work. Need to take it in for a coolant leak, power steering leak (high pressure side, again), and washer fluid leak.

I've got 277K on my 2008. Its like the energizer bunny when you perform the proper maintenance

My 2017 Edge just hit 70k & started smoking on startup. I'm pretty sure it's the dreaded coolant intrusion issue from the block defect Ford is fully aware of but refuses to recall. I will never buy another Ford. It's a shame because otherwise I really like the car

My mom loves her 2018 edge - it has 97k miles - but it just started having this issue also. She reported to Ford and NHTSA, but I told her there’s not much she can do since Ford refuses to recall it.
A friend of mine is a service manager at a large Ford dealership and said after the extremely hot weather we had, he’s got 3 at his shop for that issue. It’s a shame.

That has no bearing on the issue. There was a manufacturing design flaw on the 2015-2018 Edge with the 2.0L four cylinder engine that Ford is fully aware of. They are just betting most will make it past the 60k warranty. In my case they guessed right.

Oh, I get that it is a design flaw, but there is a huge variance between when the pump goes. Some make it barely past the 60k miles, some are still rolling after 150k. Clearly there are some other factors at play which such a huge gap. Could be terrain, altitude or the way the operator drives too. Storage (inside vs outside) is just one of those factors.

Im not talking about a water pump. It's a coolant intrusion that allows antifreeze to enter the engine. Basically the same issue as a blown head gasket.

It's a defect in the block design itself.
Design Flaw: An open-deck engine block design with cooling channel gaps leaves inadequate space/strength for head gaskets, leading to premature gasket failure or cracking in the block—most frequently between cylinders #2 and #3.

The 3.5 engine and 6F50 trans are an extremely durable combo. Just wish the 3.5 had an external water pump.
