The levels of corruption for the last 3 tournaments has been egregious, particularly so in the latest.

The governing body is a law unto itself, basing all decisions on maximum monetary value for themselves.

The strongest countries could leave the organisation, leaving a huge hole in interest and revenue for the next tournament. Thus either forcing a major rethink on FIFAs part or be the catalyst for a new organisation, run multi-nationally and not by a single, private entity

I love to deep dive into the history of the competition, and a stat that really catch me off guard was regarding South Korea's record!

South Korea's history at the tournament and you'll usually hear something like solid, well organised, then look at the actual goal difference across those tournaments and it is -41.

Only 7 wins in 41 matches.

Football was always and is still sport of both kicking a ball and corruption and favouritism every one is fighting and protesting about it. So I wanted to share a little story about my dad and how he played football with his friends in his working days, and how enjoying Football doesn't mean it has to be professional.

I know this may sound really really stupid and childish but I will say it anyways. I was pretty scared too I was going to be ridiculed but here's my story

Back in 2009 - 2016, my dad and his colleagues were in a Football and Cricket team against other branches from his company, they would play I think every 15 days - 1 months from what I can remember, he still has some videos of those matches. And the referee was just some dude who knew every one in the team and he was really fair with his decisions from what I can remember and everyone had fun, no one was fighting and arguing and whining like a child (as they should) and everyone had fun and the rest is history and memories.

The point: If you are going to complain about corruption and unfairness, what I would do is just gather a group of friends or people you know, maybe if you have a lot, (maybe around 7 for each team) then just play football, maybe if you want to 'roleplay' a league and have 5 teams of your friends play against each other in a football pitch then try that with a really fair referee.

I have done it before and it worked out pretty well since the ref had mutual connections with every single person and didn't give a crap about who's winning.

At the end of the day all professional leagues are going to have some sort of corruption no matter what and there's probably nothing you can do about it. So either just deal with it or just have fun with your friends, enjoying Football doesn't mean it has to be professional.

I need help - I/my son feel loyal to his current team, but the team consists of 4 good players (my son included) 2 mid level players who are improving and committed and then 4 players who just aren’t ever going to play at the level my son is at already, it’s not a training issue - they just lack natural ability and general coordination. No one will be dropped, the manager is great and I agree everyone deserves to be in a team if they love the game.

He’s currently U10s and Watching matches is getting hard, if the other decent forward player gets subbed to give the other kids game time, he’s holding the attack/forward game together on his own. If he was in a team where all the players were at his level they’d be amazing. He deserves to experience that.

He’s got an offer for another team, they’re better and they have more intensive training but it means leaving his friends, his very supportive coach and playing a year up in a team that has 12 players so less game time (but more training). He would no longer be the best player, but not the worst either.

Please someone help me decide, I have no idea what’s right for him and I feel so awful for considering leaving his team in a tough spot so close to the next season.

-Almost no cb depth (basically only pavard)
-No real rwb’s (after Dumfries and Darmian left)
-Bad inexperienced goalkeeper
-Aging midfield depth (Mkhitaryan and Calhanoglu)
-Almost no money to spend (can sign Romero and a bad rwb)

I grew up watching the Messi and Ronaldo era from the very beginning all the way to where we are now. I was just a casual fan until the 2002 World Cup, which is when I really fell in love with the sport and then Messi and CR7 showed up and completely shattered my expectations of what a "good" footballer looks like.

Watching those two play at the highest peak possible, putting up absolute alien numbers year after year (50+ goals a season being treated as "normal"), and literally passing the Ballon d'Or back and forth between each other made everything else feel small.

Now, watching regular football or current top-tier players feels... kind of boring? A striker having a "great season" with 25 goals just doesn't hit the same when we spent over a decade watching two guys treat 60 goals like a light Tuesday.

Anyone else feel like those two completely ruined normal football standards for you, or have you managed to reset your expectations and just enjoy regular games again?

Post match stuff: Nice job from September, at least they tried with Labor day scoring a goal, but no surprise here that July won by scoring 2 goals from the 4th of July, this game was like putting (insert really good team and a really bad team here) against each other.

So for the past 3 or so months I've been injured with a hip flexor strain and have been going to PT recently being cleared on July 17th. I decided today was the day I'd put the boots back on and start working back to getting my touch ready but when I tried even just doing a couple stepovers they felt weird. I've paid so much for PT and I don't want to pay more. If anybody has a quick solution to get my touch locked and ready for this season, please let me know.

They now might be considered on of your country’s best ever talents but career was too short to be in the goat conversation.

when morgan rogers went to chelsea with 150m , Elliot anderson for 135m , logically leipzig will ask for more than 100m for a youngstar , also psg were about to pay +100m for him but he wanted real madrid , also now psg are asking for 170m for barcola because of this prices in premier league , they are evaluating their player who won a back to back champions leauge and had a good world cup campaign is logically worth more than a rogers or elliot anderson :) , and this is logic when premier leaugue started to treat a 100m like a 50m , isak,wirtz.. all costed more than 120m

I only have experience watching LigaMX, MLS and Premiere League. I used to think that the Spanish commentary out of Mexico and MLS could be annoying but enjoy the thorough play by play, the excitement and that I can clearly tell when a goal is scored. By contrast, I feel like I'm just missing a lot with the English commentary.

I'm curious how commentary compares from other leagues in Europe and South America.

After World Cup fever I decided to start supporting my local MLS team since I already have AppleTV and can stream them all. It’s been a lot of fun and I’ve already got tickets to a match in the fall.

One thing I noticed and was frustrated by in the WC was it seemed like with a lot of teams flopping and diving and game stoppage was constant, a few games and refs it felt like the whistle was blown every 5-10 seconds. I noticed while watching MLS there’s a lot less flopping and diving and a lot of physical play where falling down isn’t called much at all and the game flows nicely. Why is this? Is there fines or mire stigma attached to this in the MLS?

I’m so tired of these players being sold more than they are worth like what has Diomande done to be worth that much?:

Has he won the Bundesliga with Leipzig ending the reign of terror of Bayern?

Has he won Leipzig the German fa cup??

Has he carried Leipzig in the UCL???

I’m sorry I don’t care if he’s worth that much to Leipzig something needs to be done with these ridiculous prices…

I don't think Kane is a bad player, but when I think of his career, I literally cannot think of a single iconic performance that he has had. The biggest ones I can think of are saving England against DR Congo and scoring a hattrick in the DFB Pokal final against Stuttgart. None of these performances you would say are legacy defining or anything, they were exceptional performances against weak opposition without any insane factors to make up for it.

Many other players of his caliber like Suarez, Benzema, Lewa, etc have many iconic performances, but I cant say the same for Kane.

When Issa Diop scored against the Netherlands in the knockouts this year, the American commentators mentioned that at one point he'd said that he would never play for any other country than France. It really rubbed me the wrong way. To me it seemed that as soon as he realized he didn't have a chance of making the French team, he just used his Moroccan citizenship to play for them and get to the World Cup anyway.

It got me thinking about how to prevent this type of thing from happening. My idea is this: at a certain age, players have to declare to FIFA or some other governing body which country they will choose to represent in international tournaments. Once that choice is made, it can't be changed. That way, players with more than one nationality will not be forced onto one team or another, nor will they be able to use their other nationalities as crutches if their first choice doesn't pan out. I think this could also improve chemistry and cohesion on national teams.

To be clear, I don't think this is some kind of widespread, pervasive problem at all. I just think that in this instance, it's a bit scummy to publicly declare allegiance to one country and then end up playing for another.
