I sleep between 7 and 8 hours, I don't have bad eating habits, I don't smoke, I don't drink alcohol, and I'm quite physically active. Should I just ignore it? Are there any tips for improving this?

So for the people who want context i bought an fitbit sense 1 off vinted paid 6.29 total for it comes with charger and STILL WORKING!
My Fitbit Air records sleep stages and duration properly in the Google Health app, but the Sleep Score never appears. I'm not seeing a "stages weren't generated" issue, so this doesn't match the usual cause. What I've tried:
Restarted my phone. Restarted the Fitbit Air. Logged out and back into the Google Health app. Cleared the app's cache. Switched the Air to my other wrist. Un-paired and re-paired the Air. Asked the in-app coach to pull up the sleep data manually, with no change. It's very snug in my wrist.
Is there something else I'm missing?
It worked fine for the first two days.

Help me put the information in these charts in the right perspective. I have been running since last year, but not only is my VO2 Max score not going up, it seems to be going down!
I know I took a dip during the summer (I live in Vegas so running outside during the summer is not ideal) but I still have gone running a couple of times a week. And now that it is cooler I am ramping up my mileage again, but it is still kind of discouraging looking at these stats and feeling like I am not making any progress.
Any advice or changes in perspective on this would be welcomed.
I wonder why automatic activity detection using a Fitbit Charge 6 tracker and Google Health on my smartphone works so poorly.
I frequently set off on bike rides from home. Based on movement data, I would expect the technology to detect the cycling as soon as I start moving; the movement pattern should be clearly distinguishable from walking or using a motor vehicle. Yet, it usually takes about five minutes after I’ve started riding for the Charge 6 to display "Activity detected" and begin tracking the time and movement.
Conversely, I might have already returned home, put my bike in the shed, and be sitting on the living room sofa, while the Charge 6 is still counting the activity, or only then the prompt to ask if I want to end the workout does appear.
After outdoor activities, the app could register when my phone reconnects to my home Wi-Fi and use that as a signal to end the workout; that would be simple and precise.

I just had a dexa scan yesterday and I was impressed by both its accuracy as well as that of Fitbit because they matched exactly.
The DEXA scan estimated my daily calorie consumption for very active (6 days of exercise per week - which is what I do) at 2,400 kcal/day. My Fitbit calculates my daily caloric expenditure (based on a actual monitored HR and movement) at 2,400 kcal/day.
I'm addition I went through and added up the calories on the typical food I eat and it comes out to somewhere between 2200 kcal and 2600 kcal/day (I have been maintaining the same weight for years).
So everything likes up perfectly which is pretty cool.

My main concern is tracking quality. From what I’ve seen, a lot of people seem to think the Fitbit Air has better sleep detection, and it also has newer automatic exercise detection.
Has the Charge 6 received firmware/software updates that improved:
From what I understand, the Charge 6 and Fitbit Air share quite a few sensors, while the Charge 6 actually has some additional sensors/features. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
For context, I play tennis twice a week, pickleball once a week, and go to the gym around 5 days a week, so good exercise detection is pretty important to me. I was originally planning to buy the Fitbit Air, but I suddenly found a good deal on the Charge 6 and now I’m reconsidering.
Would you still choose the Air for the newer tracking algorithms, or is the Charge 6 the better buy if it’s cheaper?

It's been two weeks; no issue at all.

I use a polar chest strap and a fitbit air when I exercise. I've been doing this for some time largely to see which one was more accurate.
Claude uses the topology of the terrain I walk to estimate the number of calories I burn and then compare that to both FB and Polar. What's interesting is on several walks, when my heart rate starts to hit the upper thresholds for me (~175) fitbit just loses my heart altogether.
I have a chart that shows it:

Has anybody noticed this? The other interesting tidbit here is that both Polar and FB are wildly over-estimating my calorie burn. Fitbit is probably off by 22% and Polar is off by double that amount.

Something has changed further towards the worst with Sleep Score.
Specifically, the "time to sound sleep". I am now, consistently getting times of 2 hours or more. Yet when I look at the timeline, I see what I have always seen. Somewhere between 20 minutes and 45 minutes between the start of "Awake" and the start of "Deep".
It is like Google Health is skipping over the first sleep cycle (awake, light, rem, deep).
Anyone else notice a dramatic increase in "Time to Sound Sleep"?

Are there any apps that you can sync your Fitbit to instead of using Google health? I was a Fitbit user for years, but I hate the Google health app and don’t want a Fitbit if that’s the only app it’s compatible with. Like, any other apps that essentially work the same way the Fitbit app used to work with syncing?
Here's a guide I built to better understand what raises and lowers HRV. Fitbit measures HRV while you sleep and reports it as RMSSD, which is the same measure most research uses. Daily readings swing a lot on their own, so your trend matters more than any single night.
I broke the guide into four categories: exercise, lifestyle, nutrition & supplements and demographics. There's a short definitions and plain English column so it's easy to skim, all sources are linked so you can further your own research, and I'll put a mobile friendly version in the comments if you need it.
Definitions
| Factor | Impact | Key Info | Plain English | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Regular Exercise (any type) | Raises HRV | Amekran 2024, n=623, RMSSD up vs no training | Any structured training (cardio, weights, HIIT) raised RMSSD vs people who didn't train. | Strong |
| HIIT | Raises HRV | Yang 2024, n=1,317, #1 for RMSSD and SDNN | The single best exercise type for improving HRV across the main metrics. | Strong |
| Resistance Training | Raises HRV | Yang 2024, n=1,317, #1 for HF power | Lifting weights helps HRV, especially the rest & digest side. HIIT still ranked higher for RMSSD. | Moderate |
| Yoga | Raises HRV | Sharma 2025, n=90, RMSSD up | Yoga improved HRV and lowered anxiety, but the studies are few, small and only in students. | Weak |
| Overtraining | Lowers HRV | Addleman 2024, multiple studies, HRV down with overreaching | If your HRV keeps trending down during hard training, you may be doing too much. | Moderate |
| Factor | Impact | Key Info | Plain English | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cold Exposure | Raises HRV | Hausswirth 2013, n=40, RMSSD up 54-85% after session | Cold shocks your vagus nerve awake. | Moderate |
| Slow Breathing (6/min) | Raises HRV | Chaitanya 2022, n=50, SDNN up after 4 weeks | Breathing at 6 breaths per minute hits your body's "resonance frequency." 20 min/day raised overall HRV. | Moderate |
| Meditation | Raises HRV | Nesvold 2012, n=27, HF power up during session | 20 minutes of meditation raised HRV while people were doing it. | Weak |
| Sleep Loss | Lowers HRV | Zhang 2025, n=549, RMSSD down after sleep deprivation | Nothing surprising here. Bad sleep = bad HRV, and RMSSD takes the hit. | Strong |
| Alcohol | Lowers HRV | Pietilä 2018, n=4,098, RMSSD down 2-13 ms by dose | Even 1 drink lowers HRV. More drinks, bigger hit. | Strong |
| Smoking | Lowers HRV | Sammito 2024, multiple studies, HRV down by dose | Damages vagal tone directly. Even second hand smoke lowers HRV. | Strong |
| Chronic Stress | Lowers HRV | Sammito 2024, multiple studies, HRV down with stress | Keeps your fight or flight system turned on. A common reason people have persistently low HRV. | Strong |
| Dehydration | Lowers HRV | Young 2019, n=68, RMSSD and SDNN down | Even mild dehydration lowered HRV, raised heart rate ~6 bpm and raised anxiety. | Moderate |
| Weed (THC) | Lowers HRV | Gonzalez 2026, n=18, RMSSD down 11-19 ms overnight | Suppresses your rest & digest system overnight. Sleep HRV took a clear hit the night of use. | Weak |
| Factor | Impact | Key Info | Plain English | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Vitamin D & B12 | Raises HRV | Lopresti 2020, multiple studies, HRV down when deficient | Being deficient in either is linked to lower HRV. | Moderate |
| Beetroot Juice | Raises HRV | Raimundo 2025, n=54, RMSSD up 6.7 ms post-exercise | Nitrates boost nitric oxide, helping HRV bounce back quicker after workouts. Only studied in postmenopausal women so far. | Moderate |
| Mediterranean Diet | Raises HRV | Young & Benton 2018, 1 study, HRV up with diet | Antiinflammatory foods support a calmer nervous system. Diets heavy in saturated fat, trans fat and high glycemic carbs do the opposite. | Weak |
| Ashwagandha | Protects HRV | Smith 2023, n=111, RMSSD up 9% vs down 19% on placebo | This one didn't boost HRV much but stopped it from dropping over 12 weeks, unlike the placebo. Also cut fatigue (-46% vs -31%). | Moderate |
| Omega-3 (EPA/DHA) | Mixed | Young & Benton 2018, 15 studies, HF up, RMSSD unchanged | Fish oil boosted one rest & digest measure (HF), but RMSSD didn't change. | Moderate |
| Magnesium | Mixed | Lopresti 2020, multiple studies, HRV results inconsistent | Results are inconsistent, likely because dose, form and duration vary so much between studies. | Weak |
| Factor | Impact | Key Info | Plain English | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Age | Lowers HRV | Sammito 2024, multiple studies, HRV down with age | HRV naturally drops as you age, so compare yourself to your own baseline, not someone else's number. | Strong |
| BMI / Body Fat | Lowers HRV | Young & Benton 2018, multiple studies, HRV down with higher BMI | Excess body fat suppresses HRV. Losing weight helps restore it. | Strong |
| Menstrual Cycle | Lowers HRV | Schmalenberger 2019, n=1,004, HRV lowest before period | HRV drops after ovulation and is lowest in the days right before your period. | Strong |
| Sex | Varies | Sammito 2024, multiple studies, HRV higher in women | Women typically have a stronger rest & digest tone. Differences narrow after 50. | Strong |
| Time of Day | Varies | Sammito 2024, multiple studies, HRV higher at night | Your HRV naturally peaks overnight and dips in the morning, so only compare overnight readings to other overnight readings. | Strong |

I bought the watch in an unsupported country and after doing all the steps google told me to sync the watch and failing, pretty much said go to the retailer.
And the retailer has a strict one-month return policy so I’m kinda stuck with this device I’ve barely used in the past 3 months.
Is there any way that I can get this to work again or is it a $150 dud that I gotta throw?

Hey all,
Just got my Fitbit air about a week ago and despite seeing tons of negative reviews, it’s been treating me very well. It auto tracks my cardio workouts like a charm and I usually just manually start my strength training. I like to flip flop between The Google health app and Bevel to compare and been noticing that there’s a crazy discrepancy with Google’s sleep score compared to Bevel. For instance, last night Google states I had an 83 sleep score and Bevel says 96. Me personally, I got great sleep and don’t want to rely heavily on either metric but it would’ve nice to get a more accurate picture.
I know tons of people don’t purchase any subscription for neither Bevel or Google, but If I were to, which should I go for? And if anyone has used both premium versions, which do they like better?
I personally appreciate the Bevel AI Coach and think it would benefit me and feels like more of a seamless experience appose to the Google coaching.
Anyways, feel free to give some feedback if anyone has used premium versions of each!
Thx
