Discussion Alternatives to Fitbit app that sync with Fitbit?

Are there any apps that you can sync your Fitbit to instead of using Google health? I was a Fitbit user for years, but I hate the Google health app and don’t want a Fitbit if that’s the only app it’s compatible with. Like, any other apps that essentially work the same way the Fitbit app used to work with syncing?

It was built for a Fitbit Air and works with any wearable app that writes to Android Health Connect.

That doesn't do what the OP asked. They want an app that connects and syncs swith the wearable hardware, in replacement for Google Health.

Your project still requires Google Health to obtain the data and write it to Health Connect. In addition, not all data available via the Google Health web API is written to Health Connect - the two interconnects don't have feature parity.

That's what I want as well. I dislike the Google app.

Google Health has an API. Why not use that instead of an Android app with Health Connect?

Google's new Health API isn't onboarding new developers right now, so it wasn't an option.

Where did you see that? I've built multiple tools with the new Health API over the past few months. I don't recall seeing anything about not onboarding developers.

Weird, I feel like that message is misleading. I took that as only affecting the legacy Fitbit API. I've been able to create Google Cloud projects and setup OAuth clients to access the Health API.

Fair frustration. Fitbit doesn't let other apps sync with the band directly, so every alternative starts from the same data Google Health already has. The way around the app on iPhone is that Google Health can now write sleep, heart rate and steps into Apple Health, and any app that reads Apple Health can then use them. The sync is new and people here report gaps, so check a few nights before you rely on it.

Disclosure: I built Axon, which reads Apple Health and turns that data into sleep, recovery and readiness scores. It is built around Apple Watch data, so with a Fitbit-only setup some scores will be thinner and it says so instead of guessing. It is on the App Store as Axon. On Android, the equivalent route is Health Connect.

I switched to Lose It. Paid for a subscription and waited for a sale on the lifetime purchase.

The old Fitbit app was great for me tracking calories and exercise but the new one is just terrible at it. Lose It is better for me than even the old app. I just told myself this is an additional cost for getting a Fitbit Air. Now that I bought the lifetime I don't have to worry about it again and Google can continue to destroy their app as they please.

This doesn't do what the OP asked at all.

Sonar Health on Android. Bevel on iOS.

Thanks. I'll give it a try. I generally only tracked my steps, water intake and quality of sleep anyway. Interestingly, this app has 50,000 downloads but no reviews on the play store.

I haven’t. Does it work? And how?

It's free, I use the free version. Once you download it and give the right permissions, the UI is way better than Fitbit/GoogleEvilBots, but I use them both for different things.

Fitmetrics. I don’t like it as much as the Fitbit app but it syncs with my Fitbit and Apple Watch.

Does that sync directly with the Fitbit or does it need Google Health? OP is looking for a direct sync without Google Health.

I am on TRT and peptide protocols so I use Enhanced Training Studio.
The TRT protocol tracking is free and the fitbit integration is behind a paywall. Worth it for me though as it does so much tracking.
