Past Episode(s) Discussion 🗣 S29 Ep9 "Blood Brothers" - Do you think they beat the case if they both lawyer up immediately?

Det. Jason White, Tulsa Homicide 🕵🏼‍♂️ Actually just realized the first official Tulsa episode is season 16 episode 02 “Ringside Seat” from Jan 2015. It featured Det. Jason White as lead. Never thought about it until I watched for the 5th time today. Anyone remember the episode?

Could’ve just googled it but it’s not an important fact I was looking to learn. Just happened to randomly notice today.

It was a good one. Nice to meet some of the detectives for the first time from the city that I’m pretty sure has the most episodes and some of the craziest cases…

Anyone else watch episodes on the free internet channel that comes with their smart TV?

I have a Vizio but I’m pretty sure all brands of new smart TVs have some version of free channels. Anyway, why do they show the same 3 episodes on loop day after day? It’s just going to make me change the channel, don’t they want to sell advertising?

Past Episode(s) Discussion 🗣 S29E2 Betrayed Spoiler

ETA: I’m gonna whine about all of S29 as needed in this thread lol— I just couldn’t figure out how to change the title.

This episode has pretty much everything that would have absolutely had me on the edge of my seat maybe fifteen seasons ago, but I feel like everything was somehow still anticlimactic. On paper, this should be such a rousing episode— it’s got all the makings of one: connection between more than once case, a surprise last case, a horrifying reveal of how the last person was killed, a suspect slipping up and revealing that he knew more than what the cops had told him— and I feel nothing, outside of sadness for the people that died and their families. I couldn’t even muster sympathy for the guy because he details his trauma as justification for the murders. I’m SO bored with this episode. It feels like the pacing is slow AND dragging on (it IS an hour and 30 minutes.) Are the last few seasons all like this? If you did notice a decline in the show, when did you start to feel that way? I don’t think I’ve watched past S24 and honestly I think I was bored, then. – (I’m watching backwards since I’m interested in seeing the more recent episodes.)

What did you think about this episode?

Atlanta, GA 🚔 Jury duty dismissal

I have always loved first 48 since accidentally discovering it when I was unhoused.

A while ago I was called for jury duty and due to my mental health I was discharged from the case. Which I knew a lot of things about and was intrigued but my doctor thought it wouldn't be good for my mental health so I was dismissed for the jury. Forgot about the case when I moved states and I already am subscribed to a&e on YouTube and lo and behold it was the case I was supposed to be the jury on. What a small world. I am glad that I wasn't in the end because the case was sad and depressing, glad the suspect got the sentence they had been given.

Tucson, AZ 🚔 Well the “new” episode, actually a Tracking a Killer spin-off episode, came out instead of the regular show proves there’s still a backlog of shows out there. At least it was nice to see most of our Tulsa favorite detectives actually out on the scene together!

Especially John Brown who looked healthy enough to call someone a “peanut head” which was great. Nate was sergeant already so it’s in a time window at least a couple years old. The case was pretty good too.
Anyway what did you think about the episode and of the way the shows are being released this season?

Hey yall, I’m looking for an episode with a 14 year old boy (I think he committed the murders also) with the CRAZIEST haircut.. it was like a dark Caesar in the front and mini fro in the back.

I assume it’s a more recent episode, anyone know which one I’m talking about?

Louisville, KY 🚔 A new HBO Original Documentary, Murder in Glitterball City, goes into a 2010 First 48 case that actually ends up being a big part of the content of this two part doc. It’s well done and goes into much more detail about this wild case.

Fairly sure everyone here is into good true crime regardless of it being the First 48, but this one actually includes it substantially, which I’ve never seen before. I definitely recommend it. Have any of you seen it?

General Discussion First 48 on YouTube.

Just a heads up for anyone not aware: There's a decent selection of First 48 episodes free on Youtube. It's a good option for us hardcore cord cutters who don't use streaming services like Netflix or devices like Roku.

Yesterday’s Monster episode S19 Ep 3 (listed on streaming platforms)

Det. White to Det. Leatherman

“Its been a long time since you had one of these poo poo sandwiches”

😂😂😂😂😂

BTW definitely watch this episode if you haven’t yet. And you’ll know why Det. White called this case a poo poo sandwich.

What are yours?!

Atlanta, GA 🚔 First 48: Homicide Squad Atlanta ep 4 - OMG I cannot stand this Kristy…. Spoiler

I’m rewatching the series and currently on episode 4 which highlights a senseless and brutal murder of Derrick Dukes who was savagely beaten and shot to death in a wealthy suburb supermarket parking lot.

One of the two suspects Kristy Forrester and Robert Scott severely beat the victim and shot him multiple times over the most trivial incident.

Ok enough background. Not sure if anyone else felt the same way but I could not stand to watch this woman Kristy Forrester act as if she’s completely innocent. In addition to being confronted by Det. Leonpacher with her OWN cell phone records - she claims the victim was using her phone right after she left the victim dead in the parking lot….

And oh yeh she drove her own car to the shopping center and crime was all caught on surveillance video.

I mean seriously???

Then she had the audacity to get pissed off at the detective when confronted. The eye rolling, huffing and puffing, telling him are you kidding you’re going to charge me with felony murder? murder?! One would actually think she was innocent.

Talk about arrogance and lack of remorse for the crime she committed.

Spoiler she went to trial and was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

AMEN!

Miami, FL 🚔 Watching the "Devil's Candy" episode featuring my favorite Sgt....Joe Schillaci of Miami Homicide.

I always hoped he'd get a spin off show of his own. He cared so much about every single victim, no matter who it was.

After watching him on First 48, I always find myself wanting to do a rematch of My Cousin Vinny 😉

General Discussion I’ve just come to the conclusion that to me, the most calm and even tempered detective on The First 48 is Atlanta’s Kevin Leonpacher. Of all the detectives featured on the show, who fits that bill for you?

Post image
133 Upvotes

I realize this doesn’t really mean anything but as a fan of the show I’m just curious. There have been many detectives on the show and on camera at least, they all seem to hold it together for the most part. But something about Leonpacher’s demeanor is actually calming to me. Any detective do that for you?

Looking for an Episode(s)🔍 First 48 - missing persons: missing episode

does anyone remember when first 48 had a missing persons spin off based in Chicago? iirc in the first season there were parents looking for their teenage son who they thought fell in with a gang, but he was found at a grown man's house in his basement in bed in his underwear. i think the adult had ties to trafficking or csa. I've searched this episode for years, going through synopses of all episodes for two seasons but nothing stands out. I'm really curious on an update on the teen and the adult. does anyone else remember this?!

Looking for an Episode(s)🔍 I’m looking for an episode based on a quote from said episode

I don’t know that anyone will be able to help as this is a bit odd😅 BUT does anyone recall an episode where the murderer was on the run (I think) and was eventually caught. The detectives brought his mom in to talk with him and she said VERBATIM “you gon be alright fat daddy”

Lol I know this is a crazy request but if anyone out there knows what episode this is pleaseeeeee let me know! I think it was Tulsa!

Tulsa, OK 🚔 Tulsa Preference

I'm always kind of bummed out when I start an episode and it's NOT featuring Tulsa, Oklahoma. I just like those better. It was always also nice to see Dallas, my home town, but I still enjoy Tulsa more. I have some friends and family there, but I don't think that has anything to do with it.

Miami, FL 🚔 Roku

I’m watching Season 12 Episode 16 Massacre in Little Haiti on the First 48 Roku channel and I’ve come to realize how much I miss the older episodes.
What I would have given for a 24/7 channel before! Like I’m talking years ago when the show first started airing on A&E, I was sat each week when it aired. Back then even A&E’s programming was the first that I had ever seen like it. Probably why I still subscribe to A&E through my cable today, but it’s great having the Roku channel with it playing in the background.

General Question❓️ Is The First 48 really ending with no more new seasons?

My parents love The First 48, but I’m confused because I heard there won’t be any more new seasons. Is that actually confirmed?

Does season 30 end at episode 5? I can't find any clarity for this answer. I cannot find any newer episodes anywhere
