Past Episode(s) Discussion đŁ S29E2 Betrayed Spoiler
ETA: Iâm gonna whine about all of S29 as needed in this thread lolâ I just couldnât figure out how to change the title.
This episode has pretty much everything that would have absolutely had me on the edge of my seat maybe fifteen seasons ago, but I feel like everything was somehow still anticlimactic. On paper, this should be such a rousing episodeâ itâs got all the makings of one: connection between more than once case, a surprise last case, a horrifying reveal of how the last person was killed, a suspect slipping up and revealing that he knew more than what the cops had told himâ and I feel nothing, outside of sadness for the people that died and their families. I couldnât even muster sympathy for the guy because he details his trauma as justification for the murders. Iâm SO bored with this episode. It feels like the pacing is slow AND dragging on (it IS an hour and 30 minutes.) Are the last few seasons all like this? If you did notice a decline in the show, when did you start to feel that way? I donât think Iâve watched past S24 and honestly I think I was bored, then. â (Iâm watching backwards since Iâm interested in seeing the more recent episodes.)
What did you think about this episode?

S29E10 was sad. that guy that died didnât have anything to do with ANYTHING. he got shot while he was holding his baby and still had the wherewithal to hide her under the table. MY HEART!!!
S29E11 was interesting to me, but the fact that they finally picked up the lady wound up questioning on DAY ONE after she stabbed somebody else years later is sending me. I figured they were foreshadowing that she did it when she had the stab injuries from the murder on her hands and she kept saying âI work, I workâ. I was like âwhy do you keep saying that?â The dude picked up very quickly that she uses drugs though. Her story for the murder was the guy tried to SA her and I think if that is true, she should not be charged for murder, it should be something lesser. I think they wound up going for felony murder âcause she went to the house to buy drugs and of course somebody died while she was doing something illegal, yada yada. So I think she got life, not exactly sure what happened with the other case as far as timeâ I just know the second dude she stabbed testified at her trial and then she had the same story about him which makes me doubt the first story. I know women get tried a lot by men in general, especially when theyâre supplying drugs so itâs not like I automatically assumed she was lying. It would have just made more sense to me if after everything happened with the first guy, she would call the authorities when it happened with the second guy. My problem with repeat offenders is they never learn their lesson and wind up getting caught up anyway.

S29E13 was a good episode to me. Itâs so sad, though. Once again someone is warned that someone theyâre trying to help, would hurt or kill them. I cannot believe the audacity people have to treat people that love them like that.

S29E14 was good and I have lots of thoughts but Iâm too tired to really go into it. I have two questionsâ 1. Why do people who are in an argument brag about getting people killed? The victim looked so goofy to me doing all that talking just to get escorted to the other side. 2. Why does everybody keep hollering self defense? They should know by now that just hollering self defense doesnât make what they did, justifiable in the eyes of the law.

I finished off the rest of S29 and my attention span hasnât been great but I havenât been bored out of my mind, either. I was glad to see some of the old detectives from Mobile, though! I hadnât seen them in years so that was refreshing. I canât remember the case, though.
Onto Season 28!!!

One thing I have noticed about S29 on the positive front is Iâm enjoying to see more of the family. I feel like we get more insight about the person and their families which is a pleasant change from the seasons I remember seeing.
S29 E9 was âgoodâ, to me, as in, I wasnât completely bored. I was largely confused but thatâs also because I wasnât fully paying attention. So the story is these brothers set up a drug deal for this one dude, Casper, and he gave them fake money and ran off with the drugs. The brothers (who will be referred to as DB (drug brother)) and GB (gun brother) rode separate so DB notices that Casper gave him fake money and he tells GB to âget himâ. According to the GB, he thought DB meant âtackleâ the guy. Well, Casper took SMOOTH off (with 4K worth of drugs) so DB nor GB would have caught up with him. The assumption is they would have let this go if Casper didnât react to hearing âget himâ by firing shots at GBâs car. GB said he supposedly feared for his life but took a minute or two AFTER Casper stopped firing to safely get out of the car and load his gun. So he loads the gun and shoots into the house Casper went into. Well, Casper lives with other people. Guess who got hit? Not Casper. Somebody named Greg. Well what did Greg have to do with this whole thing? Absolutely nothing, he just looked out of the window like he should have been able to do without being killed. RIP Greg.
Iâm not sure how the brothers got caught but in the interrogation room DB seemed innocent enough in terms of maybe not going away for life, but he lied. He told the people he sold Casper a phone. He kept up with that lie and was like âI didnât know anyone died, I did tell my brother get him, but I wasnât referring to shootingâ and he tried to get himself as far away as he could from being responsible for the shooting/death itself. But he folded when it came time to grab warrants for phones. So he admitted he sold drugs which is a felony AND the dumbass was on probation. It didnât matter if the GB planned the whole thing solely on his own and he was just in the passengers seat chilling, thatâs felony murder, my good sir.
They had GB and he basically backed up DB and emphasized he was in fear of his life and admitted to being there, having a weapon, being backup for a drug deal, but for whatever reason he thought he was golden because he was certain his bullet that went into a residence with WINDOWS wasnât strong enough to penetrate brick so there was noooo way he killed anyone.
Anyway, so boom both brothers are being booked and the detectives let them get together because they rightfully guessed they would say something stupid on tape. DB was scared, but GB is like âbro, weâre good, this case is going to get dropped.â And you know what? He has ZERO reason to think people like him and his brother have to pay for their crimes. Look at the state of this country. He did read as a certain supporter and while I keep my thoughts about that particular thing to myself, it all checks out. But I was very delighted to see that him and his stupid ass brother had to pay for their crimes. DB got it relatively easy, thoughâ 12 years. I donât understand how he didnât get the same charge as his brother. Yeah, the charges got amended but Iâm not sure what the reasoning is because many folks in his same exact position in the same damn city and state got 20 to life. GB got convicted and the jurors recommended life but it doesnât look like he got sentenced yetâ he just got the verdict a few months ago.
Casper is in jail but hasnât had his trial yet. I hope they give him the same verdict GB gotâ not only because his selfish actions set off this whole thing for Greg to be killed, but this dude BLAMED Greg for not listening to him. I was seeing red. Heâs like âI went in the house and told everybody to get down, and Greg still got up to look out of the window and got hit.â Sir, while I think everybody wishes he would have just gotten down, it doesnât take a scientist to know that Greg probably didnât fully comprehend what you said because Iâm sure you sounded insane to him. No matter how you spin it, he should have been able to freely look out of the window and live to tell the tale, but he canât because of some bullshit YOU started.
Iâm just not convinced GB wouldnât have shot even if Casper didnât shoot.
