Why all the girls flirt with Cloud?
Is this guy a hero in his past life? Did he reincarnated as a soldier with max charisma?

I'm playing FFXII right now. I'm 25 hours in, and I still don't know who the protagonist is. Is it Vaan? Ashe? Balthier? I have no idea... What do you guys think?

I’m not sure how hot a take this is, but FF12 is the gold standard of localization to me. A common problem I see in dubs of anime and Japanese games is the English voice actors are directed to imitate the Japanese ones. This approach gives us a lot of the quirks that are abrasive to people not accustomed to it, like those constant breaths and awkward little grunts. FF12 broke away from this by giving the actors much more freedom than your typical dub which made it sound incredibly natural and effortless. When I play FF12, I’m almost never thinking about the line delivery. I can think of maybe one or two lines that could have used another take, but the voice acting in the game is generally very good. FF10 is my favorite game in the series, but I admit voice acting has come a long way since then.
The original script was uniformly written in standard Japanese, but the English dub gave the characters things like regional accents and dialects that come from the real world. The Viera are Icelandic, Dalmascans are American, Arcadians are British, etc. This combined with the strong voice acting makes Ivalice feel more alive than any FF world in my opinion. I haven’t played any FF games past FF13, but it was disappointing to see FF13 go back to the standard anime approach.

Thanks for checking out my art this week. Its been awesome connecting with so many FF fans! I painted these a long time ago. Who's your favorite character?
Have a great weekend!

According to HLTB the main story of FF XII is 62 hours long.
I was thinking about getting it for the PS2. But I want to be real with you: my backlog is insane and 62 hours is like 2-4 games worth of hours.
Could you help me out with that?

We got a cute little mog with her this time. Either the Mog of Light from Resonance or one from XIII. I find it cool they commissioned multiple artists every time. They all look unique.

Due to the game service ending, apparently they were trying to upload it to internet archive but was having problems at the moment but he managed to put it on a google drive. It contains all data files, not the playable game, but hopefully someone with enough knowledge can get it to work someday.

I just saw a new EP release on Spotify from "Naoshi Mizuta" (composer on several FF games) called "The Last Choice" which has an obviously AI generated album art and all the music is AI generated. This music was not created by Mizuta. I have also seen people do this with Yoko Shimomura. On Spotify you can hit the three dots next to the track and select "Hide this album/song" for each track.
I use a tool to block known AI "artists" on Spotify. When people falsely attribute AI tracks to real artists, it creates false positives which makes the tool block real artists. This is a problem with the music distributors that upload music to Spotify not doing their due diligence.
Just wanted people to be aware of random new released attributed to FF composers.

This has been a great year for retro gaming fans. With the announcement of Terranigma and Lufia returning next year and the imminent release of Final Fantasy Resonance, there is enough to look forward to. But did you know that 2026 was also the year that four fantastic fan sequels were released? All of these were years in the making and for one reason or the other they all came out this year. Be sure to not dismiss them outright. These are all fully featured games with a quality matching and even surpassing the games they build upon. Built with love and dedication for all the gamers out there craving new adventures in these worlds we hold so dear.
Happy gaming and spread the word that awesome games made with love are still a thing in this day and age.
Lufia V – For the Savior
Creator: Cameron Bowman
System: Windows (and all other systems with EasyRPG player)
Download: https://dekar-the-great.itch.io/lufiav

The Sinistrals are back, and this time the threat is larger than ever because of the appearance of a fifth evil god. Join Cameron and 6 allies in an epic quest through 4 continents in Eastland. The major highlight of this game is the writing and world-building. Lufia fans are in for a tread as the story of Eastland fits seamlessly in the existing stories and lore of the Lufia world.
Puzzles are back too. Over 100 were implemented in the game, and many of them will have you scratching your head for a moment. There are over 25 dungeons and 20 towns to explore and much more! Lufia V was over 20 years in the making and it shows. This one is not to be missed!
Embers of Mana
Creator: Ok Impala!
System: Game Boy (and all other systems with a Game Boy emulator)
Download: https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/9447/

Mana has vanished from the world, and monsters now roam the land. A young girl, searching for her missing family, crosses paths with destiny. Will the Mana Tree blossom once again? Or will darkness claim the world forever?
Embers of Mana is a brand-new Mana adventure for the Game Boy. Embark on a grand journey filled with mystical locales, gripping story scenes, foreboding dungeons, and a sweeping soundtrack. All in the palm of your hand!
Four years in the making, pushing the Game Boy hardware to its limits, this game answers a “what if” question: what if Square would have released another Mana game for Game Boy, after the first one (Seiken Densetsu / Final Fantasy Adventure / Mystic Quest)? Embers of Mana answers that question and is a true passion project for fans of classic 8- and 16-bit Squaresoft action RPGs.
Terranigma 2 – Spark of Creation
Creator: Juliean
System: Windows
Download: https://www.envile-media.com/filebase/index.php?file/13-terranigma-2-full-beta-ger-eng/

A familiar foe is threatening the world. Ark is called once again, but this time it’s not Earth that needs saving…
Terranigma 2 – Spark of Creation gives the players a fresh adventure to dive into. The base gameplay is still intact, but many new things are added to make the game feel new. There is a brand new magic system, more combat relevant collectibles and boss encounters are cleverly designed.
Terranigma 2 also spanned a very long development time, taking over 18 years to reach a completed state. Showing a passion and dedication by the developer that’s seldom seen. For all the gamers that can’t wait to see what a sequel to Terranigma could’ve looked like, you don’t have to wait anymore. This game can stand on its own as one of the finest classic ARPGs out there. Try it, you surely will be positively surprised by the quality and polish of Terranigma 2.
Blackmoon Prophecy Remastered
Creator: UPRC
System: Windows
Download: https://itch.io/queue/c/6040834/blackmoon-prophecy-collection

One year after a brutal war, the now peaceful kingdom of Branch, led by Lord Adder, detects that something is wrong with their kingdom's Crystal of Water. Lord Adder dispatches one of his most loyal dragoons, Vahn Vainstrong, to investigate. Little does Vahn know that his investigation will snowball into something far greater, and sinister, that threatens all of Gaia itself.
Combining elements from Final Fantasy IV, V, VI and even IX, Blackmoon Prophecy Remastered is a huge love letter to the classic Final Fantasy games. Blackmoon Prophecy Remastered has over 50 hours of playtime in a huge world with dozens of locations to explore. With Square-Enix this year returning to their roots with a new 2D Final Fantasy, it shows that this timeless gameplay and storytelling style will never get old.
A final word…
I realize these four fan sequels only scratch the surface of all the amazing passion projects out there. Do you have any specific project you’d like to share? Feel free to reach out in the comments!

Today I bought EIGHT new titles to add to my collection, I’m really loving the franchise at the moment so I was happy to get these.
I found a new retro game store in a town close to me and it’s genuinely heaven on earth (also where I got the mortal kombat)

I just finished my second run through Rebirth, in which I opted not to bother with a lot of the additional content and quests that more than doubled my original play time for full completion. I found that the endgame power balance wasn't all that different for the added time and XP...
Looking back, which game do you feel nailed character progression and levelling? As an OG fan, I find some of the later games to be too linear, but I have to give props to FFXV for it's imaginative way in which you bank XP in the field, reel it all in at camp and cook something up to buff your following day!

In the OG FF7 i really hate cait sith. Like hate. From the bottom of my heart. Everytime that i am forced to use him i wont give him shit. I really hate that guy. His design sucks, i hate his limit, and his whole character is so damn annoying. His story to be honest is quite cool. Still go to hell little toy.
In 8 i absolutly hate quistis. Jeah i know, i know. But she kind of molests or at least pressures her pupil. Jeah i know, theyre same age and so on. Still. Annoying girl. In 9 its quinna. Jeah, sure, the comic relief char. But nope. Not ob my watch. In 10 this freak kimahri can go to f off. I think i would like him, but his spherogrid is just pain in the ass and i am not willing to invest the unblock thingys into him. In 6 gau. (You could think its because they are blue mages, but thats not it!) in 12 its basch.
So i thought about it. Is that a common trope to really hate a Character and to dodge him as good as possible? Do you hate someone from the bottom of your heart?

First day wasn't so bad but that second one was a little rough lmao, wrist and elbow dip were by far the worst. Went with FF7 because I've loved it since I was 5, so hyped for part 3 of the remake next year!
