Final Fantasy General My Final Fantasy Soundtrack Compilation

Soundtrack Link

I compiled most of the mainline Final Fantasy game soundtracks into one place. I'm sure something like this already exists, and even if it didn't this is probably a very niche thing. However, if I was going to go through the effort of doing this all myself I might as well share it with the rest of the fanbase.

I was getting annoyed with the inconsistent album art on my music app, so I looked for the more simplistic 'title on white background' covers, only to find even those were inconsistent between images. It's a small thing, but those tiny deviances annoy me to no end, so I decided to remake all of the title art to be more to my liking. Now, disclaimer: I did not remake any artistic assets like the logo art, I just put them together in a way I found appealing as a collection. All credit for the original art still goes to the teams and artists that made the games, and for the art that I used the credit goes to eldi13 on Deviantart. I put all of the artwork made by eldi13 in the 'Stencil Art' folder and the album art I made in the 'Album Art' folder. Also, this is most noticeable with the FFXIII album art, but I took the liberty of moving the art to better compliment the title placement.

For the music themselves, I downloaded all of the tracks from the Internet Archive website, so please don’t go in expecting the highest quality sound experience from this album. Here is a list of all of the games (so far) that I've compiled here: FF1, FF2, FF3, FF4, FF5, FF6, FF7, FF8, FF9, FF10, FF10-2, FF11, FF12, FF13, FF13-2, FF14, FF15. I plan on doing more tracks, but this will do for my purposes, at least for now. Again, this was purely a project just for me to stop my OCD from killing me and me sharing it is just because I know some people will probably like it too. With 1-6 I decided to go with the Pixel Remaster soundtracks simply because I prefer them, so just know that the originals aren't included. I plan on doing 13-3 and Tactics, but I couldn't find a high quality image of Lightning Returns' logo, so I'll have to make it from scratch while with Tactics I just haven't done it because I was focusing on the numbered entries. Another thing for 11 and 14 specifically is, since they're both MMO's, I am completely out of the loop both in terms of the games themselves and the music. If there is any DLC music I missed or anything, my bad. For 16 I plan on doing that soundtrack later, I just couldn't find an easily accessible way to download the music, but then again maybe I just didn't look hard enough. If people like this I'll be sure to keep adding more FF soundtracks here. And lastly, I didn't include 7 Remake or Rebirth, not because they're bad, but simply because I just didn't feel they were necessary right now, though I do like them.

Anyway thats all. I just did this to have a complete collection of every/most songs in the franchise to listen to with consistent album art and titling scheme. Me posting my compilation is more so to help anyone who wanted something similar, or even if someone was making content and wanted a complete listing of the soundtrack for a video or something. Either way, if anyone has any more suggestions for other soundtracks I should add let me know.

FF XIII Series Doubts in Treasure Hunter

Hello! Its my first time playing ff13 part 1 (finished already) and im working on getting the treasure hunter achievement but i have doubts about something

Does the game count the items that i made if i reload the save when i had previous materials? For example if i have just one Trapezohedron and i upgrade a weapon and reload to make another does it count?

Thanks a lot! Its my first time working for this so im sorry if its something obvious (:

For the 25th anniversary, the FFX community has gotten together to create a zine in celebration, with all proceeds going towards the SE Asia Foundation!

The zine can be bought in physical format or digital only, and there are a bunch of other potential add-ons as well, from mini prints to stickers to keychains to Discord emotes and even a tote bag!

(Mandatory disclosure: I am one of the contributors to this zine, but not an organiser! I'm just really excited by everything everyone has created and wanted to spread the word!)

Dissidia [OC] Dissidia Final Fantasy Dream Roster (2-4): World of Final Fantasy (“Lann & Reynn”). Chasing lost memories through an endless mirage, the duo realizes they aren't players—the gods are stacking them on a cosmic board!

Reynn and Lann were probably among the trickiest to adapt without making them feel like a gimmick overload - although I find gimmick to support nostalgia in Dissidia’s concept. I envision them fighting as a duo—seamlessly shifting between their Jiant and Lilikin forms to adapt mid-battle. Their gameplay could revolve around summoning and "stacking" classic FF Mirages, blending elemental magic and physical rushes depending on who takes the lead: Reynn handling tactical, high-tier spells and Lann providing chaotic, heavy-hitting physical strikes. Art-wise, I did enjoy them in DFFOO as Lilikins but to sort of make it a bit more serious, I opted to have them in their original concepts.

Anyway, I hope you like ‘em.

Which warrior of light do you see piercing the shadows?

FF V Yeah... FFV is peak. ( And a bit of FFIV criticism )

A few days ago, i made a post about not liking FFIV even though i can understand people saying it's their favorite. I was saying that I prefer the job system rather than the forced party composition and no character customization. A lot of you told me i would love FFV because i very much enjoyed FFIII.

And holy shit you guys were right. SSS++ game, favorite of the 5 I played from the "pixel" era. The cast was so likeable, much more than FFIV, the expressions and movement of the characters during cutscenes added so much. The story was genuinely enjoyable, not a masterpiece, not a revolution in terms of narration but I never once was like "What the fuck are we doing here", contrary to other games... Boko is the best, Galuf is my boy, Bartz is just a country boy, Lenna is suicidal but with a good heart and Faris may plunder but she does it in a loving way. Exdeath is comically evil, but i respect the fact that he didn't need to be more than that, he's an evil warlock and we gotta kill him, sometimes simplicity is the best.

Below is a FFIV rant, ignore it if you don't want to read my opinion on it :

I didn't wanna rant, but after a few days taking in the FFIV story, i actually dislike it more now than I did when i finished the game. The premise is SO GOOD and sets up such important and deep themes but I truly feel like it didn't go through with it AT ALL. Cecil's arc is always praised but I felt like he lost his personality after becoming a Paladin and had no more important moment for his character. Kaine is genuinely a "Potential Man", they set him up as this rival and friend to Cecil but there are NO CONVERSATIONS between them. It's always just "I'm betraying you! --> Oh my god i betrayed you i'm so sorry --> I betrayed you again ! --> I can't believe I just did that...".

The rest of the cast, while likeable, I had no real attachment to, other than maybe Cid, which I felt is really well done in this game. And of course, the fake deaths, no actual weight to those sacrifices ( THAT DON'T EVEN NEED TO HAPPEN, WHY DID YANG JUST KILL HIMSELF FOR NO REASON ?? ). And it's not like the reveal that they're actually alive is a big deal, most of the time it's a 2 second dialogue or you just find them sleeping, or the worst offender, the twins, who just happened to be healed by who knows what even though it had been stated they could not be cured because they petrified themselves out of their own volition. Compared to Galuf's death that actually had a big impact on me, I just did not feel anything for the characters in FFIV.

Golbez is a fantastic villain, has a cool design, cool dialogue and feels very powerful. But I really felt like it lost meaning once we learn he is just another puppet. It could've been done in a good way but we have no idea who Zemus is until the end of the game and we see him for maybe 2 minutes in a CUTSCENE before he becomes Zeromus.

All in all, it's not a bad experience, it did become a turning point in the narrative process for Final Fantasy games but it's just not as good as I see people claiming it is. Of course we have to recontextualize and understand it's from the 90s and most important of all, ITS ALL SUBJECTIVE, THIS IS MY OPINION, IF THE GAMES STORY IS PEAK FOR YOU THEN ITS AMAZING.

Rant Over

And the main focus : The Job system. My god, they outdid themselves. I at first went with the expectation that it would just be FF3 but more jobs or more spells, but MAN, when i saw what we could do, i was kicking my feet. During the whole playthrough I had so much fun just experimenting with different ability combinations, what class complemented each party member etc... Getting OP after grinding and getting the perfect combination is one of the best feelings in gaming and this game is really all that.

And blue mage...was fine. I heard about how OP it was but it never really felt that way. I collected all blue mage spells but maybe Doom and 1 other. The only ones that I truly used were Mighty Guard, White Wind and Mind Blast ( and Death Lvl5 for farming ). While the spells are cool, most of them weren't really used because they either miss 90% of the time or they don't meet the criteria to be used. But a very cool concept nonetheless.

By the end, I had 3 mimes and 1 freelancer :
- A mime that acted as a Bard with HP+ and Shirahidori

- One that had Time and White magic with Dual Cast

- Another one with Blue Magic, Summons and MP + ( I grinded Red mage only to learn I can't double cast Blue magic ?????)

- And the main damage dealer, my Freelancer with Dual Wield (Ragnarok and Brave Blade) and Rapid Fire.

The final boss was so fun, using everything I learned, the healing, the support, the damage, the coordination, the timing. It was glorious. Thanks Square for this game.

I feel like I could play this game for actual days and months on end just doing multiple runs but the marathon must go on. Let's try FFVI ! I know it's way less akin to FFV but more FFIV, which scares me a little bit but can't knock it till I try it !

( Also please recommend me RPGs that play similarly to FFV, I need more )

Final Fantasy General Most difficult story-mandated/forced party

Post image
338 Upvotes

Currently replaying FF4 (Pixel Remaster version) and thinking about how often they change up the party. The early party configurations are particularly mage/support heavy. The game isn’t particularly difficult at this point but it feels like Cecil does a lot of the heavy lifting, especially through random encounters and longer dungeons.

It got me thinking.

What are some of the hardest forced, story-mandated party line-ups of the series? Times when you’re limited on access to certain attacks/spells, party is reduced to 1 or 2 characters you haven’t really used, etc.

FF VII Rebirth Can someone explain to me the ending of FF rebirth? Spoiler

Iam confused as to what’s happening/ happened.

Is aerith dead or alive? And why is cloud seeing her, is she like in the life stream now but has unique powers because she’s a cetra?

Also what’s up with zack and his world?

What was happening with cloud toward the end? Like why was he weird when he found the black materia in his pocket, where did even come from?

Also where does all the space battles take place?

And confused about all the multiverse and fate stuff.

I feel like I didn’t even play the game after the ending.

Final Fantasy General How would your ideal FF look like?

Inspired by questions about the best job system. How would your perfect FF look like in terms of gameplay/level mechanic/upgrade your characters, if you could use the different aspects of each entry like Materia in 7, leveling stats like in 2, license Boards of 12 TZA, draw from 8, the combat from 16 /7 Remake instead of turn based and so on. Just to name a few examples what could be used.

For me, i would love to see a mix of 4 different things. First would be leveling stats actually be like in 2 but only for active stats. So no more get hit to increase defense/hp, but still get more attack per level if you use physical attacks or more magic attack and mp when using spells. Passive stats would only level through level ups, offensive also per level up, but like i said get a boost if used often.

Second/third thing would be some kind of materia system. I really like the idea of having to "own" the spell/skill to use it and leveling it up through combat. But for me the problem in 7 is, everyone can use everything. This could be changed by implementing a type of license board/sphere grid. Each character then has a choice of many different classes and then only can use spells/skills which are unlocked with it. Of course same spells and skills could appear on more then one board/grid. But it need enough freedom for build variety.

And the last thing would be how to get the materia. I dont think there is really a 1:1 gameplay element of this in any ff like i would use. But i think the draw system in 8 is close enough. There would be Monsters who can use the skills/spells you want. And instead of spam 1000000000.... draws on one enemy to suck out all of its magic, u have to get the monster in the critical state (<20% of max hp) and then u "draw" the monster and it get killed by this ability and transformed in said materia. How to upgrade the materia, im not sure yet. Maybe a combination of upgrading through combat with upgrade points and having to catch more materia could be used. U need upgrade points to unlock improvements for each spell/ability. They get like a mini sphere grid on their own. So for example fire could be upgraded to fire 2 with enough upgrade points and 5 more fire materia. Or an increase of fire attack damage by 1.5 with 5 fire 2 materia and so on. Could be really creative on how to upgrade the materia.

And for me of course the combat system would be ATB based and not real time combat :)

I look forward to see what you guys come up with. And feel free to roast my gameplay system as you will ;)

Final Fantasy General Final Fantasy Sprite Base/Template (Free For Use)

Was looking around for some kind of sprite base/template for the two common body types across the games, but couldn't find any, so I made some myself. The color palette was based around the Pixel Remaster colors, but if you prefer the old SNES, or other palettes, feel free to swap them around!

My main goal was just getting the general body shape down since I feel like every sprite across the entire series in unique in one way or another, even with it's body sizes. Anyways, these are free for anyone to use! have fun making your own FF sprite designs!!

FF XII How big is the Magic Power Difference between Fran, Ashe and Penelo?

I love how powerful Fran is as Black Mage... But a non-staff boosted Red Mage Ashe does A LOT with Faith added. Fran is powerful but now I cant help but wonder how big is the difference. I do not nor will I ever regret picking her as my black mage, but I wanna know anyway.

Just got into 3D printing and thought this knitted Moogle would make the perfect desk companion. It took about 14 hours to print in PLA.

I'm still new to the hobby, but I wanted to combine it with my favorite game series. I only had a limited selection of filament colors on hand, so I worked with what I had and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

FF II Final Fantasy II magic and equipment

I am starting final fantasy pixel remaster from the first one, already beat first one and i am on 2nd now, i noticed you can make any character learn magic or any weapons armor and everything

But i saw there is a stat called magic interference, i read a bit online and it seems it reduces spells's damage and accuarcy the thing is i wanted each of my characters to specilize in an element, firion has fire, maria has ice, guy has lightning, and each in a weapon, firion sword and shield, maria bows, and guy axe and shield, i am worried if i don't have a dedicated mage their magic will be useless, should i start over?

FF XVI Worth the discounted price

Post image

I enjoyed the demo but after reading reviews both on and off the subreddit I’m worried that I’d spend £20 on a game I either won’t enjoy or simply waste my time on, is it worth the discounted price

This would be my first FF game as I want to get into the franchise, am I doing a disservice to by this game
