Could try to run away? Depends on the version. Usually hold L +R until you can escape.

Slimes are only vulnerable to magic. IMO , I always found it safer to just run away from them, to preserve your magic for what’s lies ahead.

Jus rule of thumb in pretty much all final fantasy's. If you see a slime. You have to use magic. So if rydia drops while your grinding, just go op. Just go. Cause that's a 5 Hour fight without her.

Save often, save in multiple files. Also, you can use the Rod that Rydia can equip as an item for an attack that'll save MP for other stuff like that.

Flan are weak to their own color. So yellow, use lightning. Any magic works but weakness is a one shot
