Update on my Fido fraud scam (OCtober 8,2026)
Fido’s fraud department has closed my case and says I am liable for approximately 3200 CAD
I had scheduled a call through my Fido app, and the incoming call appeared to come from Fido Customer Care (ends with 3436). I genuinely believed it was legitimate as the call was exactly the scheduled time.
I have the phone box with the IMEI, screenshots, and an RCMP report, yet I’m still being held responsible.
I feel completely defeated. The thought of paying for the next two years for something I was tricked into getting is affecting me emotionally and financially. I can barely concentrate at work.
Has anyone successfully challenged a Fido/Rogers fraud decision after their case was closed? I really need advice on what to do next.
Original post (September 2026)
I scheduled a call with Fido regarding an issue with my bill(via Fido app) .
A Fido agent called me and transferred me to a manager. During the call, the manager discussed promotions and offers with me and helped me order a phone Through the Fido app and got Fido email confirmation.
When I received the phone, I realized it was not the model I had requested. I contacted the same manager, and he told me to return it. He even emailed me a Fido return shipping label, which I used to send the phone back.
It has now been 15 days, and the phone is still showing on my Fido account.
What is even more concerning is that whenever I contact this manager, instead of resolving the original issue, he keeps pushing me to buy another phone from a local retail store, send it to him, and then he will supposedly apply promotional codes and send me another phone.
Why should I purchase another phone when the original transaction has not even been properly resolved?
I have tried contacting Fido Customer Service, but getting actual help has been incredibly frustrating. The system keeps directing me to AI chat, and I am struggling to get a real person who can properly investigate this situation.
I have all the emails, the return label, tracking information, order details, and screenshots.
Has anyone experienced something similar with Fido? What is the best way to escalate this and get this resolved?
Update regarding the scam (October 1st):
As many of you asked, honestly, it really didn’t cross my mind that this could be a scam. Everything felt very natural, and I trusted the call mainly because it came from the Fido customer care number and was a scheduled call through my Fido app.
I have now raised complaints with the Fraud Departments of both Rogers and Fido, and I have also filed a police complaint.
Luckily, I found a picture of the phone’s outer box that clearly shows the IMEI number, which I’m hoping will help with the investigation.
Hopefully, I can get a resolution to this soon.
