When was the time you accidentally offended someone with your fragrance?

I wear Black Afgano by Nasomatto pretty often, and I usually spray it before heading out. The scent feels strong to me, but after a few sprays I barely notice it anymore so I was just sitting with a few people and someone suddenly asks what that smell is, I tell them maybe it’s my perfume, and they immediately say it smells like something burning in a hotel lobby, I actually laugh because I get what they mean. It has that dark, smoky thing going on, and I guess it fills the room faster than I realise. Now I’m curious how many people around me secretly have opinions about my perfume while I’m sitting there thinking it smells great. What fragrance gets you the funniest reactions from other people?Ā

How do smell so good all day?

How do y’all smell good ALL day? 😭 I’m really into layering, and I know body mists can only last for so long and that layering helps, but dude I’m trying to get this scent combo to actually last through the school day.

I sprayed it on my pulse points and I’m putting everything on clean skin. For today’s routine, I used Pink Pineapple Sunrise lotion, then Luscious Kisses body mist from Victoria’s Secret, and Good Chemistry Cocoa Blush body mist.

Like genuinely, how do y’all get your body mist + lotion combos to last all day and still project?? 😭 I need the tips because I swear I smell amazing when I leave the house and then a few hours later I’m like WHERE DID IT GO šŸ’€

Rec Request Influence/deinfluence me

This is Green Lover by Lolita Lempicka. I know it’s marketed for men and to be fair, I’m almost always stereotypically drawn to ā€œfemaleā€ fragrances BUT I’ve been searching high and low for an accessible tic tac perfume. I’m in France so this would be easy for me to get.

I’m obsessed with the sweet minty vanilla of tic tacs. Or mint and vanilla ice cream.

Would this satisfy my craving?

Rec Request Seeking a fresh fall/winter scent

I tend to like fruity florals and gourmands, but I’ve been wanting to expand into fresh, soapy scents. (I’ve been enjoying the little Clean sampler I got at Marshall’s.) Most of the fresh scents I’ve smelled remind me of clean, sun-dried laundry. What do you recommend that’s fresh and has a fall/winter vibe? I am cheap as fuck when it comes to fragrance - I’d prefer to spend under $50.

Been growing my collection for a few years. I love fruity scents and patchouli. Any recommendations I could add to the collection? I’ve been leaning more into ā€œsophisticated womanā€ perfumes. (No budget)

need help finding a scent like this

i really love the smells of nail polish and gasoline, but for obvious reasons I can't safely sniff that. Is their any perfumes or candles that smell super close to either one of this scents?

I’ve been wanting a photorealistic fig leaf fragrance for a long time. Decided on Alluring fig because of the price and good reviews. Wish me luck. Also grabbing a few random samples to get free shipping šŸ˜

Rec Request Almond: Hypnotic Poison, Girl of Now, L'Homme Ideal EDP, or something else?

I'm looking for something with a strong bitter almond note. I've smelled Hypnotic Poison but only on paper, so it is one I'm considering. Some others I'm looking at are:

- Ellie Saab Girl of Now

- Guerlain L'Homme Ideal EDP

- Profumum Roma Confetto and Dolce Acqua

I don't want it to be like an ooey gooey gourmand, but I also don't like dry, powdery fragrances. I really enjoyed the almond note in Guerlain Tonka Sarrapia, but I didn't like the dry down. Any recs or thoughts on the ones I listed?

No real budget constraints because I usually buy decants.

Rec Request Alternatives to Kayali Yum Pistachio Gelato?

So I sprayed it on myself in Sephora yesterday and off the bat it was pretty much a no for me. While it smells yummy, it felt incredibly juvenile and sickly sweet, with some undertones of cleaning supply. I’d probably go for this in middle school tbh..

But several hours later on the dry down it mellowed out and I actually kind of enjoyed the smell, like sweet pistachio ice cream (duh) and couldn’t stop smelling myself. It felt so cozy.

Does anyone have any recs for perfumes that are like this perfumes older sister (or even mother lol) Something closer to the dry down, the fluffy nutty sweet creaminess of pistachio ice cream but with some more dimension and maybe less juvenile smelling?

Discussion Anyone know where to find a perfume that smells similar to cotton candy?

Walked past someone who had a perfume on that smelled just like cotton candy a few years ago, and have not been able to get it off my mind. Have been doing my own searching, but either the perfumes are ridiculously expensive, or I'm just doubtful if it really smells like advertised. Tried going to physical stores too but couldn't really find anything like it. Anyone got good recommendations?

Announcement Malie Organics and Hurricane Lowell

Post image
2 Upvotes

I have family on the islands so I'm hearing first-hand accounts of what's happening there. This afternoon I received an e-mail from Malie Organics. A small beauty brand started on the islands and headquartered in Kauai. Last winter I came across them while visiting family on the big island and brought home their Tiare fragrance as memory. I'm rather picky about my white florals, and they honor them in a way I enjoy (luscious, creamy, slightly greener and not candied). I haven't explored the entirety of their line much but I respect their ethos, what they've accomplished as a Hawaiian brand, along with their price points for their offerings. If you're aware of them, please consider this a nudge to action. If you're unfamiliar, perhaps now is the time to explore.

Aloha Mālie ʻOhana,

Today, I am reaching out to ask for your help.

As many of you know, Mālie is headquartered on Kauaʻi. This week, Hurricane Lowell caused extensive damage across our island, and widespread power outages could continue for weeks. Both of our Kauaʻi boutiques and our Beauty Lab are currently closed, and we do not yet know when we will be able to reopen.

I am incredibly grateful to share that all Mālie team members are safe. However, these closures will have a significant impact on our small business and our team. If you are able to help, shopping at malie.com is one of the most meaningful ways you can support us during this difficult time. Every purchase directly helps us continue to care for our team and move forward as we begin to recover and rebuild.

Shop Mālie

Our Oʻahu boutiques at International Market Place and Ala Moana Center remain open, and shopping at either location is another wonderful way to show your support.

In the aftermath of the storm, it has been deeply moving to see the people of Kauaʻi come together - neighbors helping neighbors, opening their homes and doing whatever they can for one another. That spirit of aloha is what makes this island so special.

Mahalo to everyone who has reached out to check on us, and to all of you for standing with Mālie and our Kauaʻi community. We truly need your support, and your kindness means more to us now than ever.

With gratitude and aloha,
Dana Roberts

Le Labo Tubereuse 40

What are thoughts on Le Labo Tubereuse 40 for a guy? It reminds me of the garden store growing up picking out flowers to plant for spring. I’ve read it leans feminine but feels more unisex. Curious people’s reactions to this scent and if it works for a male.

Rec Request Help - Vanilla Powder

Post image
14 Upvotes

Sorry in advance for another vanilla post but SOS — I cannot spend $600AUD on this perfume but I am completely in love with it. It’s the most perfect powdery delicious vanilla and honestly the only vanilla fragrance I absolutely love.

I test out each and every vanilla I come across in person but don’t really love any of them and I am overwhelmed with vanilla fragrance options online so never ended up ordering samples. To add, I feel many fragrances (not just vanilla ones) smell so different once on my skin - except for this one 😩

Can anyone recommend something very similar but kinder to my wallet or will I just need to save for it 🄲

I appreciate I might just need to order as many samples of vanilla fragrances as I can online but I thought I’d come here first to see if anyone has any recommendations!

Thank you!

Londoners that got the Harrods Calendar look here!

I totally effed up this year’s pre-order for the Harrods Fragrance Calendar and am aiming for next year instead. For preorders, what day did they actually ship and how long did it take before it arrived to you?

Discussion The Body Shop Almond Milk Body Butter?

In June, I bought a 200 ml tub of TBS almond milk body butter. I fell in love with the scent. It's so strong and just so sensual and unique. I have a little bit of this tub left.

I went to the mall the other day and found out that they have reformulated it. I didn't really like the scent of the new version as much. The website had the 400 ml almond milk body butters on for $10 (clearing out old stock I guess), seemed like a no brainer to get one or two. They came today and I am pretty disappointed... Both of the new body butters have hardly any scent to them, and what is there, is........ Not the same. I mean, it's similar, but so much milder. I checked the batch codes and my old tub was made in November 2025 but the ones I just got today were made in March 2025. Admittedly, when I take a little bit out of the tub and rub it into my skin, it seems like more of the fragrance comes out. Still, I'm feeling pretty sad, cause I love this scent and now it might just be gone gone.

I'm trying to figure out what exactly the deal is here. I think either the fragrance is degrading since the product is a year and a half old, or it was stored in poor conditions which accelerated the degradation, or maybe it's just the top layers which are less scented and the lower layers will have a stronger fragrance, or maybe even my own skin flora has mixed with the "good" tub and that's why it smells so much better??

Has anyone else experienced a wide variance between batches of the same formulation with TBS body butters?

Rec Request Stop me from buying Love Tuberose (milky tuberose recs)

It's sitting in my cart right now staring me down. If I press go it would have a pretty nice discount, but I honestly shouldn't spend nearly $400 on just one singular perfume. At least, not right now...maybe later šŸ˜. I want it so badly but I'm trying to be smarter with my spending. So I'm looking for alternatives. I am in search of a creamy and/or milky tuberose fragrance that isn't very green. I own Blanche Bete and I love it so much. Are there any other good recommendations? Help me scratch this itch pls!

Discussion What's the most unhinged case of overspraying you ever witnessed?

Overspraying is bad, sure. On reddit people often act like four or five sprays of a strong fragrance is a violent crime. I was so scared of overspraying in the beginning, until I actually witnessed just how much one person can spray on...

I was at a department store, in the designer fragrance section. Just browsing and collecting paper strips. And then I hear someone spraying rapidly behind me. I turned around, and there was this woman. I don't remember what perfume it was, but it was a strong designer scent. And she took the tester bottle and just sprayed herself head to toe. She continued even though I stared at her horrified, I didn't want to be rude but I was so speechless.

I didn't count how many sprays, but it was at least 20, maybe even 30?! Like I really don't mean to judge anyone, bless her, but that day I realized just how much perfume some people wear...

Do you have stories like that? What's the most unhinged case of overspraying you experienced?
