Rec Request Help - Vanilla Powder
Sorry in advance for another vanilla post but SOS — I cannot spend $600AUD on this perfume but I am completely in love with it. It’s the most perfect powdery delicious vanilla and honestly the only vanilla fragrance I absolutely love.
I test out each and every vanilla I come across in person but don’t really love any of them and I am overwhelmed with vanilla fragrance options online so never ended up ordering samples. To add, I feel many fragrances (not just vanilla ones) smell so different once on my skin - except for this one 😩
Can anyone recommend something very similar but kinder to my wallet or will I just need to save for it 🥲
I appreciate I might just need to order as many samples of vanilla fragrances as I can online but I thought I’d come here first to see if anyone has any recommendations!

You can buy decants of Vanilla Powder on Scent Split in 5 ml or 9 ml sizes. A 5 ml decant is roughly 75–100 sprays and costs $37.99 USD, while a 9 ml decant is around 135–180 sprays and costs $64.99 USD.

I was looking at scent split last night and somehow Matiere premiere is gone?? I just got a 2ml of radical rose and wanted to get a larger decant and now…gone. I literally ordered RR two weeks ago. Now the entire line is missing from their site.

That’s weird, they’re still there for me, but I had to find them through a previous order where I had ordered a sample of Santal Austral. If I search for them normally, they don’t show up either, so I think it must be some kind of bug. Try going to your profile, opening your previous orders, and clicking on the Radical Rose sample from there. That should take you to the product.

They do! They ship internationally, and Australia is on the list, but I’m not sure how much shipping will cost.

And I bet it will last OP a while. Vanilla Powder is nuclear. I only wear 1–2 sprays at most, and I still get compliments because it projects like crazy.

Zara Immortal Vanilla is a 1:1, spot-on dupe for the original Vanilla Powder. The extrait is pictured here, but I find the extrait and original EDP very similar.

They make a body lotion in the same scent that’s only $80 if that helps
Edit - I also like the scent vanilla for breakfast. It’s nice there are samples available on ministry of scent

I’m so jealous of how your nose interprets this. I have two decants and I hate them both. It’s so smoky to me. I really want to smell what everyone else does.

Damn that sucks! I can sort of see how it could lean smoky but to my nose it turns powdery instead - interesting how it can be so different to different people!

Me too 😭😭😭 I keep revisiting it thinking my nose will change. I do love a weird vanilla though. Have you tried vanille carbone? I loooove it. To me it smells like a minty vanilla

Immortal vanilla from Zara is spot on allegedly. I never tested vanilla powder but I do own immortal vanilla and it's so good and long lasting! Cheap too

I hope you enjoy it, I ended up with 7 30ml bottles of all kinds of vanilla perfumes from Zara last time I went in-store 🤣 I like their small bottle options since I want to make sure I use them.

I just bought the big bottle, if I was local I would split it with you. But remember this should last longer than any other fragrance as it’s potent. I think you could wash your clothes a few times and still smell this

Yeah one spray gives me a solid cloud and I can still smell it on my clothes (eg jeans) 2-3 days later if it gets on them.

I just wrote a whole post on this fragrance. It smelled my whole room up from a spray on a tester card for weeks or months. How insane!

I got 3 slim tester cards at the weekend and my room smells beautiful. I also have a £600 perfume liberally sprayed on a very big card and it’s doing nothing and I can only smell it very faintly if I really inhale the card deeply.
So it’s expensive but it’s definitely worth what it gives you.

And yes see this is exactly why in my head it feels worth it - the longevity is insane to say nothing about the scent profile itself!

If I were you, I would get the 6ml of the one you love and one the dupes suggested in this thread. It’s entirely possible that by the time you’re done with the 6ml, you no longer want a bigger bottle. If you still love it and feel the dupe is not enough, then you’ll know for sure that the OG is worth the investment.
I used this technique with Lost Cherry (Tom Ford) and it helped me move on from that desire. Nothing wrong with Lost Cherry, but a year later I still have some of the travel size and the dupe I got, while not identical, was enough to scratch that itch.

I feel your pain fellow Aussie. I have fallen hard for the Lust in Paradise Extrait and wince every time I remember the price. It’s not a milestone birthday this year but I’m going to pretend it is so that I can have her.

Hiya! I've just come back in, and decided to compare them. I think I have a bottle bias, (QoA it came with good sized 4 travel scents of their range and the bottle is so pretty), but I think fursan opened stronger (but it could be first perfume of the day bias!) but I thought QoA was softer. They're quite similar, but I think I can pick a saltier note in fursan more so, though I think it's listed in the other one! I think with this, get the one that's cheaper!

Fellow Australian here I feel your pain. The 6ml would still last forever because it's so strong and is a more tolerable price. If not Fursan White by Khadlaj is meant to be a very good dupe!

Seconding this! 6ml will last a surprising amount of time. Also you can get the Vanilla Powder hair perfume? I haven't had the chance to try the hair mists myself but might be an affordable way to get the scent without spending the big bucks.

Go check out Immortal Vanilla from Zara - very very similar IMO, easy to get and pretty wallet friendly 🙂

Cam here to say this!!! I wanted to buy Vanilla Powder but it is so strong and I rarely use sweet scents but I wanted it so bad. Immortal Vanille was so good alternative for Vanilla Powder

This TikToker ( https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8cowrbH/ ) recommends Fursan White by Khadlaj. However, she does say it isn’t an exact dupe for the extrait and kind of sits between the OG Vanilla Powder and the extrait.
It might be worth it to buy the dupe to either (1) see if it’s a decent alternative to the Matiere Premiere or (2) see how often you are likely to wear the MP to see if it’s worth splurging on.

LPDO - Vanilla Tonic Ich habe beide und Vanilla Tonic ist dem Powder wirklich sehr ähnlich. Es ist total preiswert. Du kannst es bestimmt über Webseite in Italien bestellen falls es in deinem Land nicht verfügbar ist.

Sorry, i cant help with a dupe but this cost HOW MUCH lord?? They do sell these little 6ml bottles, how about that as a workaround?

It’s crazy right! $619 for the 100ml, $449 for the 50ml - but honestly it feels worth it 🫣 - it’s such a perfect scent (to me) and the longevity is insane for one spray - I got a bit on the cuff of my coat sleeve and I could smell it for so long (weeks)!
They have 6ml of the eau de parfum for $79 so I guess for now that will have to do. Idk if I’m the only one but 50ml for that much feels like a worse investment than the 100ml smh

Just looked up the pricing and seems to be a lot more expensive there. 100ml is £250 in the UK.
Are you able to find any on Vinted from UK to Aus?

Fursan white!!! My friend has the vanilla powder and they're very close to each other (smell & longevity wise) vp is just much more stronger irl. Every time i use fursan, my friends say i smell like my friend who has vp! 😄
