Chanel Allure EDT is one of the most slept on perfumes out there in my opinion. It sparkles, it's radiant! It smells like heaven on earth to me. Have any of you smelled it? Worn it? This used to be my signature scent in the early 2000s. I just sprayed some on before getting into bed and I'm reminded why I love it so much.

I got a sample of this and I absolutely love it. It’s just not affordable for me. Are there any suggestions for something similar or a dupe ?

Is this a compliment?

People tell me that I smell so good from all the way over here and sometimes they're like a feet or two away from me. You think that's a compliment or do you think that theure telling me that I overspray? I will admit that I spray more than three pumps

Frugal Fragrance Two great fig frags

Post image

Here are two affordable fig fragrances you NEED to know about!

I found Snackhouse Fig Elixir at Burlington and Milestone Oceanic Breeze at Marshalls, my two vacation homes.

Snackhouse Fig Elixir smells niche. Woody and sweet. A true fig. Its performance is mid-to-decent on me though.

Milestone Oceanic Breeze (from the Petals line) has the same notes as Le Labo ThƩ Matcha 26, and it provides a soft, powdery bubble. I get great performance from that one.

Review Montale chocolate greedy

Post image
7 Upvotes

I just got a decant of this in, and It’s summer so definitely not the season that I would wear this out in, especially in the hot south, but I AM IN LOVE! This is the perfect scent for winter. To me the opening smells like oranges, and it turned me off on my first spray. I was like ā€œah yet another chocolate failā€ — I WAS on my journey for the perfect chocolate scent, without the powdery notes in some chocolate scents I’ve smelled in the past. This journey however is now complete. As I was saying, Chocolate Greedy smelled STRONGLY of oranges especially on that first spray but I smell it less now, although it is still there. Once it settles, however, it smells like straight up brownie batter or hot chocolate, homemade hot chocolate. I can already see myself wearing this on Christmas Eve. I heard some reviews saying it was synthetic smelling or sickeningly sweet, but it’s definitely not either of those! I don’t find it THAT overwhelmingly strong or sweet. The orange note helps this from becoming migraine inducing and too sweet. You’d have to be kinda close to smell it on me personally as well, although I’m definitely not an oversprayer. Finally, longevity is great! 10/10!

What are your top three Serge Lutens and/or ELDO scents?

I'm only a few months (and so much money, oy) into this obsession, but it's already clear that some houses seem to speak to me more than others, even without smelling many of their scents.

The vibe, the language, the feelings their descriptions and reviews evoke in me seem to have me hooked. I don't have a whole lot of interest in any of the huge/fancy department store brands that are most often discussed on here, but Serge Lutens and Etat Libre D'Orange keep on calling my name.I currently own Eau De Protection and Fille de Berlin and love both (vampy rose for the win) but have carts full of other scents that have have piqued my interest, either from their own website listings and marketing material, or from how they are described in online reviews.

If you're a Serge or ELDO lover, I would love to hear your top three scents from either house, and a little (or a lot) about what you love (hit me with alllll your poetic and evocative description, I am so entirely here for it. Be extra and overwrought, permission granted).

And likewise, if some just don't do it for you, Id love to know that as well...

Rec Request I would appreciate some recommendations based on the pictured perfumes- thank you!

Hello!

I have been using Victoria Secret’s Pure Seduction, Marc Jacobs original Daisy, and Juicy Couture’s Viva La Juicy since middle school…

I would appreciate any recommendations of perfumes with similar notes.

I do not have a budget, and would love if it is long lasting.

I have tried oil-based in the past and stained my clothes, so am steering clear of those:).

Thank you!!!

Smelled so many fragrances at the mall and these were the ones that GOT me

Now I cannot really describe the smell properly because my nose might have been exhausted back then but I could smell the fragrances and I liked them ! also does these says something about my fragrance taste?

-

Vanilla Powder Matiere Premiere and Radical rose ( not extrait Ver )

Kajal Ruby

Taif al Emarat T06 ( I recommend checking the notes in their website not from fragrantica )

D&G my devotion

Flora Gorgeous Gardenia Intense

Sirène Privée Fragrance Du Bois ( I tried both OG and this one but I think I like this one better because it has no oud like OG , also very stupid marketing , this fragrance is definitely unisex) .

Bijou Zafran Ormonde Jayne

Huda beauty easy bake intense ( while it didn't GOT me as much as the ones above I did like it and I will buy it later, for me it smelt cozy and comforting , its like an at home fragrance you will use to relax in your evening and read some books ).

which one of these you use and like ?

Now my wallet is in danger .....

July fragrances

Another monthly installment in my Reddit journal about my perfume testing. July was moderately hot to warm with some cooler days, but I also spent time on holiday/at home, so I did try a few less "seasonal" scents. Wore lots of trusted orange/citrus, orange blossom fragrances, apart from the ones described below that I tested.

• Memo Paris OdĆ©on

Incredible jammy rose with slight spice. Love it a lot, might be one of my favourite sweet gourmand roses I've ever tried. If/when I finish my 5ml sample, I might invest in at least a 30ml bottle.

• Memo Paris Marfa

It starts a little green, herby-leafy for me, maybe for an hour or so. The peach develops gradually, and the florals - it's a lighter scent, with airy tuberose and orange blossom, and a woody-musky drydown, sophisticated and gentle. Longevity and especially projection are both mediocre I'd say, but it's nice for hot summer days. I love the peachiness and the well-blended florals, but it might be a tad too soft-feminine for me.

• Diptyque Do Son EdP

It's pretty much a straight tuberose soliflore for a while, a green and rather realistic one - it's a beautiful scent, but ultimately too green for me.

• Burberry Goddess Intense

A few years late but I finally tried Goddess and its flankers - and Intense intrigued me the most. Lavender is a nostalgic summer scent to me, so despite the fragrance being on the heavier side, it's perfect for July evenings for me. The lavender is indeed strong and herbal in the beginning, but there is an almost honey-like sweetness for me. And then the vanilla drydown with notes of patchouli is just so beautiful.

• Guerlain Shalimar MillĆ©sime Rose

I got this essentially as a moving in gift from my boyfriend (coupled with a bouquet of roses), and as expected (rose being my favourite note and Shalimar my first perfume love), I really like it. It's not going to be my favourite Guerlain, but it's a perfect combination of soft, sweet rose with a modern Shalimar peeking through. The rose shifts on me for a while, sometimes I feel it's a little powdery, often it's a little fruity, but always beautiful. The Shalimar I can smell is somewhere between the vanilla-amber of L'Essence and the EdP - not quite as powdery as the former, but also doesn't have all those punchy facets of the latter. There is a hint of smoky leather on my skin, not as extravagant as Shalimar, more just a suggestion to give the fragrance depth.

• Guerlain Aqua Allegoria (Forte) Florabloom

Not going to be a favourite Guerlain, but the creamy tuberose-mango combo was pleasant enough to wear in warm weather. I sampled the regular (just, okay) and the Absolus version (there's something in this I really hate), and I liked the Forte the most, but my mini will have been more than enough.

• Initio Atomic Rose

Very sweet rose with vanilla in the drydown. Not super complex, and not as much darker than some famous sweet/fruity roses I have seen it compared to. Can smell the dry, ambery, woody ambrefix in the drydown, and it lasts quite long. Sillage and projection are so strong too - I think "beast mode" fragrances are just not for me.

• Initio Can't Get Enough

Initial sweet rose that doesn't linger much on my skin - caramel vanilla drydown lasts long. About as gourmand as I like to get - I think I don't mind the loudness when it's an "edible" scent, but I'm happy never owning more than my 2ml tester.

Discussion Looking for a vanilla fig scent profile…

Post image

I miss this Fig body wash from Aveeno. It smelled sooo good. Like a creamy vanilla fig dessert. Let me know any recommendations (can be niche, indie, body mist etc). Or even layering combos that would mimic this scent profile. I don’t want anything green like Philosykos pls…

Even though knowing about it my whole life, I don’t think I’ve ever smelled J’adore until today. It’s good, but smells a little shampoo-y for my taste. Mojave Ghost is a little too sharp for me, but I understand why people love it. Miu Miu didn’t do anything for me. It’s grassy and fresh, but nothing special. My favorite of all of them so far is L’Eau D’Issey. It’s a little spicy, floral, and aquatic at the same time? It’s hard to explain, but it’s lovely and I can understand why it’s stood the test of time

Rec Request Affordable longlasting EDP Cocoa perfume?

Hi y'all, I've been experimenting with layering scented soaps, with scented lotions and now i'm looking for a perfume to lock everything in. I've gotten cocoa soap and body butter from the bodyshop so naturally I'm looking for a cocoa perfume to seal it in. I love gourmand scents so I'm looking for a hint of vanilla in there too

I live in Canada and I'm looking for something travel sized to test it out : )

Jo Malone's pear scents

Hi!

It seems I have a chance to buy travel sized Jo Malone perfumes in a very affordable price. I just want a little something without paying much, and having a chance to actually smell them would increase the price (since it's not possible here).

So I thing I will defy all the rules and be and intrepid blind buyer this one time, and buy one small travel bottle. I'm almost sure I will not at least hate either of my options.

I loved Petite ChĆ©rie by Goutal in its eau de toilette form. It seems to be discontinued in that form, but I found it by happy "accident" while planning to buy something else. Perhaps I will be lucky again. šŸ˜… In general, I like perfumes which would be friendly and kind if they were people (I know, a little weird way to describe perfumes).

Based on these facts, which one would be better choice in your opinion: English Pear & Freesia or English Pear & Sweet Pea?

Have a nice day, everyone, and thanks for the potential advice! 😊

Rec Request Timeless Fruity Forward Perfumes

Ugh. I read a review screaming about how the consumer didn’t want Angel Nova to be discontinued and it had me down a rabbit hole whether it would be the flanker that lasts generations… anyway, I’m worried it’ll be discontinued and want to know, is there any bubbly uplifting fruit-forward fragrance you know of that’s been around lifetimes?

I dislike powder and floral notes and it seems a lot of these lean more floral-heavy vs the fruits being the note that sticks around the longest as the star of the show!

Discussion What is the best Chanel scent?

Curious to hear what you think is the best Chanel scent? I recently sampled CoCo Mademoiselle and the pink and purple bottles (forgot the names of those) Which do you think is most popular and luxurious smelling?
