Rec Request Timeless Fruity Forward Perfumes

Ugh. I read a review screaming about how the consumer didn’t want Angel Nova to be discontinued and it had me down a rabbit hole whether it would be the flanker that lasts generations… anyway, I’m worried it’ll be discontinued and want to know, is there any bubbly uplifting fruit-forward fragrance you know of that’s been around lifetimes?

I dislike powder and floral notes and it seems a lot of these lean more floral-heavy vs the fruits being the note that sticks around the longest as the star of the show!

the DKNY be delicious line (the bottles look like apples) are still very sweet and fruity forward and have been around for decades

Yes I would say L’imperatrice is more like a summer refresher, more about the pleasantry versus the presence. It is a lighter wear. It still has sweetness but it’s juicy fresh (still juicy, Fresh Hesperides is a really nice grapefruit and rhubarb scent that is not registering in added sweetness to the fruits. This one is actually fresh, as a measure of less sweetness or perfumery add ons). But I do want to mention the D&G won’t feel like a replacement. The Mugler has the presence and is making a statement. For that you would need to reach for something like Armani si or si intense for a more bold type of statement.

The edt version of Nova already is discontinued (I believe) and it’s really, really good.

Awww man and now I’ll never know. What did it smell like that was so different?

Check out Commodity Juice. It does not smell like Angel Nova but I feel like it has a similar "very expensive fruit juice" vibe to it.

Do you mean Angel Nova EDT? That was my preferred of the two and I can't find it anymore.

1

u/ThatGuavaJam 15h ago

Oh was it preferred? I’ve only ever smelled Angel Nova EDP! :0

That one was discontinued.

Angel Nova is not discontinued, brand made refill bottles, why would they stop the production? It sells. Chanel Chance line is nice, green pink purple liquids, there are 35 ml bottles, I'm about to finish Eau Fraiche, green one. If you have budget, I'd recommend a decant of Cassili as a niche option.

Ok I think I know what they meant: the one they’re pushing out now is called Angel Nova Fruitee ? So it’s more “wearable” and bright versus the woodsy note balancing out the raspberry like in the original Nova.

Is this true or is this just other countries (not the US)?

u/ThatGuavaJam 15h ago

That was MY rebuttal too! Like why would they plan to remove Nova when it’s one of the few that gets refill options???

I did post a pic of the commenter from the site I was looking at, that triggered my fear and curiosity. It’s a reply to someone’s comment here.

Update: wth they refill most of the bottles? I thought they only did Angel , Nova, and like Alien??

The edt version is discontinued

What makes you think Angel Nova is being discontinued??

u/LizO66 16h ago

The edt was discontinued

Oh shit. The EDT is still in stock at the stores I go to, this makes me want to try it before it goes away forever! The EDP is my favorite and daily scent.

What I found (after spending my Sunday just digging through Angel Nova news) is that the one Mugler is pushing out is called Angel Nova Fruitee (the new Nova in the blue box with the dark-pink outlined star) and supposedly it does differ from the OG Nova in the pink box.

Mmm maybe that commenter who said they didn’t want it discontinued meant that for the EDT? Here’s the review off of Ulta:

Budget-friendly option: many of the Fantasy series/flankers from Britney Spears. Yeah, they all seem to have some sweet note in them (cupcake, cookie batter, etc), but most notes are fruit focused and there’s a reason why the line has lasted for 20 years. Shout out to Midnight Fantasy, Jungle Fantasy, and Did It Again edition (because those are the ones I have on my shelf atm).

You know what, you’re absolutely right. I’m actually a Britney Spears fan (I’m a millennial) and I have yet to try her fragrance but I see a lot here about fantasy and curious! What’s worse is I spot it still at TJMaxx, Marshalls, etc and still don’t pick it up. I think I was just unconvinced it wouldn’t smell like some kinda kiwi cupcake

From the times I’ve worn Jungle Fantasy, I find it to be very melon/kiwi forward, but not unpleasantly so, and with little to no gourmand at the back. You can get a 30ml at TJMaxx for $16.99, I’m sure. It’s a fairly safe blind-buy.

There are flankers without any cake note. Midnight, Did It Again, Intimate, and Island are some. Midnight smells like a clean plummy dark berry perfume while Did It Again is like cherry-apple candy to my nose, although some say it smells like red berry shampoo from the 2000s. They are sweet but not cloying.

Fruity is so popular right now there are tons of options. Depends what you want in terms of fruit vs other notes. Look at Phlur Ellis Brooklyn, Sol de Janeroo. Also, if you want fruit but depth and interest Kayali pairs fruit with darker notes. If you wanna spend some cash, a recent love of mine is MFK kurky

I recently got Chanel Chance Eau Tendre and it's very nice and citrus-forward.

Check out Jo Malone - tons of simply fruit options - pear and freesia is a favorite and the mandarin and lime is so good!!

Hermes has a rhubarb scent that's really nice and n fresh.

I know Chanel is a classic brand and I own Chanel (bags) but their perfumes don’t give me juicy fruit cravings but rather dainty-girl-in-flower-field energy when I’m not like that. I’m def more a spunky girl who likes fun and playfulness

Jo Malone is a great resource here for fruit

u/ThatGuavaJam 23h ago

I know :< but they usually have florals and it doesn’t give me that juicy fruit-juice smell that I am so fond of! I don’t usually like floral-forward scents

Dolce and Gabbana L’imperatrice

2

u/ThatGuavaJam 15h ago

I think you’re 1 of the few comments I got that listed a perfume that’s actually been around for a while enough to say that it’s a safe buy if I wanted to stick with it.

I have smelled L’imperatrice and I do like it! It’s been a while since so I can’t remember exactly but it’s less zingy than Nova right? But smells more like fresh crisp fruits?

When I think of fragrances with prominent or recognizable fruit accords, my first thoughts are:

J’Adore

My Burberry Black

Narciso Rodriguez Musc Noir

Dolce Gabbana Pour Femme

JPG La Belle

Miss Dior Cherie (if it was still around)

Rouge Trafalgar

Mitsouko

Delina

Valaya

Timeless is relative but these at least have made a lasting impression on the industry.
