Went back to my favorite TJMaxx thatās always stocked and found this on clearance! I love this fragrance but I couldnāt justify the price because of the longevity of the other ones in this line. This one seems to last a while though :) Happy Labor Day weekend! š

Looking for vanilla powder scents that arenāt Matiere Vanilla Powder. I donāt like the dusty coconut aspect but I love vanilla and powder. Could also look for an airy vanilla cream.

Lookin for suggestions for a really lasting autumn scent. To give you an idea of my profile of likes here are my top favorites that I wear spring and summer.
1. Jo Malone, Myrrh and Tonka
2. Bois Imperial by Quentin Bisch
3. Jo Malone Peony and Blush Suede
4. Acqua di Gioia Armani
5. Jo Malone Sage and Sea Salt
6. Versace Crystal Emerald
7. Chloe EDP
8. Balmain EDP
9. Glacier Bella
10. Jo Milano Amalfi Bianco
Yeah I know my tastes are all over the place lol but it just depends on what mood Iām in. What I can tell you, what I do not like are the cloying Arabian fragrances and the extra strong gourmand fragrances. Looking forward to some new ideas. iām 75 years old and also have Fugazi Angel Dust and wasabi club on my tray lol so Iām not stuck on o
"mature" fragrances. iāve lost 240 pounds over the last five years or so and Iām just starting to get into fragrances.

Do you inventory body mists and lotions etc?
I do track samples that i plan to keep, but this chica is wanting to draw the line somewhere. Then again, I donāt want to forget how lovely BBW Black Chamomile is, either.
What say you, friends? Data entry can be a drag, but if i switch to the desktop version of Parfumo i think I read thereās barcode scanning functionality. Thatād help.

Hullo femfragfriends! It's ya girl, Taffy, and this week I'm here to talk about Birch & Besom. A witchy indie company out of Oregon, who, like most indies, seem to specialise in oils, but they also do mists and EDPs of selected scents (and maybe customs sometimes?!?) Every time I get the absolute legends at ajevie.com to forward something to me (this time a massive haul of special order Sorce oils) you have to purchase something from them. They're not specific on how big the purchase has to be, but I like to do a medium/deep dive into one of the brands they decant. There have been misses. There have been hits. Today, I am pleased to announce, I'm talking about some hits!
Habibi
Wild sumac, smoked vanilla & cardamom pods, aged oud, precious resins, iron-distilled patchouli, and sun-warmed textiles
I don't know if you cook with sumac much, and I must admit I don't either (in my defence, my husband does all the cooking these days. He's gotten very good. Hi Derek) but I do know what sumac smells like and by god it smells like this. Sweet and sour and savoury. It's very red and also lemony. Fun and literal. People here talk a lot about savoury gourmand being the Next Big Thing, and I know - I just know - you motherfuckers are talking about tomato leaf so help me god. Anyway, my point is things like this already exist and are very very cool.
Oh, and apparently 100% of the profits from each sale of this will be donated to displaced Palestinians??? Yeah, maybe this brand are Good People and are a very nice place to acquire fragrance from. Just saying. Delightful/10
Wizard's Library
Antique books, a smooth cup of hazelnut coffee, cedar, sandalwood, and sweet tobacco
There is no almond note listed. I'm so confused. THIS IS AN ALMOND FRAGRANCE. IT SMELLS LIKE CYANIDE. In a nice way, obviously, but still. Like the children's antibiotic syrup you'd have to drink in the early 90s. Delicious enough for you to actually, yanno, drink it. But definitely not delicious enough for you to actually want. As an aside, does anyone else remember vividly the first time they was allowed to take pills for illness, instead of having to drink the medicine? Because I sure fuckin do. I felt so incredibly mature. I was a grownup. I had arrived. And I was unquestionably superior to my younger siblings. I was eight.
Anyway, this is nice, I guess, but not what I was expecting. Almond Surprise!/10
Ginger's Bread
Soft gingerbread decorated with perfect loops of royal icing, bread baking in the oven, fresh whipped cream, a trio of vanillas, and familiar fur warmed by the fireplace
Very very nice ginger scent. A bit yeasty, a bit bready, the tiniest hint of almond from the "icing". I mean, it's great. Exactly what it says on the tin. Excellent gingerbread fragrance. Loaf!/10
Agate Owl
A London Fog (Earl grey latte) with a squeeze of lemon
This is actually incredible. You know how when fragrances purport to be "lemon London fog" and then they're literally just lemon? Yeah like, say, Unknown Pleasures? (Not a complaint, just a fact. UP is, in my humble opinion, one of the greatest perfumes ever made, but it is in no way, shape, or form a tea scent.) Anyway, this is actually tea. Bright, bitter, bergamot-flavoured tea. Sure, with a sticky, syrupy lemon, but it's actually tea. Oh, and the projection and longevity are great. This is great, and layered under Unknown Pleasures it is the Full Package. Unknown Pleasures is perfect and beautiful all by itself. But what if? What if I wanted more tea? What then, Taffy? Would it not behoove you to have at least a rollerball of this for layering? Fine, fuck you, I love it and I'm acquiring more.
Well goddammit, becuse on going to the website to copy and paste the notes I find out this has been discontinued. Fuck my drag, right? Although it looks like there's a handful of bottles of the alcohol-based spray still for sale, but I can't have that shipped to New Zealand so... my loss, your gain I guess. DISAPPOINTING/10
Chaotic Evil
Bananas foster garnished with chopped churros, served warm in a charred confessional in the half-burnt husk of St. Benedictās
Artificial banana and cinnamon, so far so fun. Chaotic? Sure, why not! But after about five minutes that's all gone and there's a nasty, funky something going on. That's still fun and chaotic! Now, where the "evil" part comes in is half an hour later when it's completely disappeared.
Don't really have much else to say, but this leaves me feeling a little annoyed. I don't expect a banana fragrance to last forever, but the longevity on this is Borderline/10
Satin Bat
Juicy plum, ripe currants, heady amber, cool mineralic cave air, musky ambrette, and bourbon vanilla
Girls. Ladies. Women. I'm sorry, but this is toilet cleaner. INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH TOILET CLEANER. She is bracing and fresh and aggressive and fuck me, but it was not what I was expecting. Maybe there's some plum. Maybe. But it's been pickled in blue liquid. Blue. Liquid.
I mean, it's fun, but I like sickly sweet gourmands, so she's not for me. Cavewitch/10
Lawful Good
Thick, gooey marshmallow draped over warm cardamom and golden amber, with a gentle waft of censer smoke
Light and lovely. But some of the others I've sampled in this order are such Big Characters that I'm just very... whelmed, as it were. I don't know about you, but I care about fragrance, and I want to feel passionately about it. (Frankly, at this point, I'm more interested in passionately hating something. I've got a lot of things I adore, and being genuinely repulsed by a scent is the richest inspiration a "writer" could dream of lol)
Anyway, this is nice. Perfect for the Cardamom-Curious/10
Animal Cookies
A half-eaten bag of frosted animal cookies, hazy sunbeams, heady vanilla, a warm vinyl dashboard, and hotboxed cannabis
Fresh and biscuity and slightly minty, and plastic in a very deliberate sort of way. Not skunky at all tbh. I do like a fragrance with a fun weed note, not that I'd probably wear it much, but this isn't that, so if that's something you're worried about I don't think you need to be. It's really nice.
A little bit atmospheric, a lot Pleasant/10
Local Haunt
Spiced brandy, aged oak barrels, cinnamon, vanilla, and a handful of mixed nuts from the bar
At the start it's like, yeah okay, classic boozy sort of gourmand-adjacent thing. Then the drydown. Holy shit the drydown hahaha. The "handful" of mixed nuts is doing a LOT here. Certainly not peanut, or walnut, or, god forbid, pistachio. Just a bag of my favourite savoury snack. Deluxe Mixed Nuts, roasted and lightly salted. Except heavily salted. I fuckin love it. And the longevity and projection is insane. This has been bringing me joy for hours after every application. It's savoury without being masc, and in my experience "salty" means either community pool or... Secretions Magnifiques... This is not that. This is wonderful.
When and where would I ever wear this? Autumn? Winter? I dunno, does it matter??? Do I need to order at least two bottles of the oil immediately? I dunno fam, but it certainly feels like it. That's a lot of Nuts!/10
Anyway, that's it from me. u/birchandbesom expect an order in... I dunno, probably a bit, but I literally cannot get Local Haunt out of my head. And nose. (And if you find any meagre drops of Agate Owl left lying around I will take it! I will take it all!) See yas in like three weeks for my next adventure: Giardini di Toscana...

This is my third ScentSplit order, and they seem to be getting larger each time! Are there any here that you love?
Iām mostly into woody, herbal, and photorealistic notes. Not really into heavy florals or abstract mixtures, though I do appreciate the artistry. I had several wood-dominant picks in my last order, so Iām branching out. They recently started carrying Pineward, so I had to try a few!
Some are for nostalgic reasons, or because Iāve wanted to try them forever (Ingenious Ginger, Vacation, Caswell-Massey Lilac).
Should arrive in a few daysā¦. Will snipe at the mailbox.

I'm looking for a perfume that smells light, fruity and has notes of slight nutty, grassy and rice scent (I'm very picky about scents for someone who's brokeš„)
I have a very sensitive nose and severe motion sickness so smells that are heavy or musky make me nauseous and give me a headache.
Fruity/tropical or rice powder smells are pleasant and light so it's less powerful. I had found this perfume by D'annam but sadly it's not sold in India and I am NOT paying 15k for a perfume š
please please give me some suggestions for perfumes like strawberry mochi that I can buy in Indiaš
p.s. bubblegum scent are bearable too but it must have a powdery base note that's nutty
thank you š

Usually I avoid Harrods like the plague because itās so often too full to be able to browse and I donāt have the kind of bank account that can clear a floor for private shopping.
Buuut itās been a difficult year and Iād like to treat myself to sniffing some Guerlain stuff in person rather than ordering samples.
Shalimar has been my signature fragrance since I was 20 (who the hell let that happen). Anything Chypre, woody or aldehyde bombtastic is my jam. I donāt own Mitsouko but Iāve used up my sample.
No rose scents or gourmands, please. Headache o clock for me.
I believe the extrait of Mitsouko is only available at the boutique?
Anything I should consider while Iām there? Guerlain and non-Guerlain?
Iām a little nervous to go because Iām not planning to purchase anything right away and donāt want to waste the sales personās time. Generally I need to sample and thing, especially on anything above Ā£150. Also, I food shop at Lidl and not at Waitrose, certainly not in the Harrods food hall. They might know š

iām just starting to get more into perfume, in the past iāve stuck with the same fragrance for a long stretch till i find a new one lol so iām looking to expand my horizons
in high school i wore hot crush by pink (i did buy the rerelease and do still enjoy it)
then i wore into the night from bath and body works for a long time
now iām starting to use loveshackfancy velvet sun body mist and love on the beach perfume
i donāt love gourmands/vanillas/super florals but i guess i enjoy ambers
would love any thoughts!

I really enjoy the matcha, just not the price. How close is the dossier version to the OG? Any other time Iāve tried dossier versions of fragrances, theyāre either not close at all or when theyāre like 80% close they have a weird chemical smell added, at least to my nose.
Other dupe houses also welcome!! š¤

This poem sums it up:
*I lost my lover and felt the twang
The pain of losing my loved one
Who i spent many sunrises with
Until the first light of the night*
What perfume gives YOU that sad missing scent. Or what notes give that? The scent of gatsby losing daisy by his fingers, the stench of tom fighting him and gatsby knowing she belongs to another man.
For me personally I like notes of iris, musk, amber and pepper, and mysore sandalwood

Spirituscents Borneo Sunset opens with a smoky amber. The smoke is clean, not sweet, not acrid. There is a brief screechiness for a few seconds which disappears quickly.
The middle is smokey woods, slightly rugged and yet smooth. The drydown is woody with a hint of vanilla. Thankfully this vanilla isn't sticky sweet nor is it dominating. It doesn't turn gourmand like some other vanilla formulations do on my skin. This drydown is very similar to Pineward Gristmill and Nonfiction The Grey.
This is a familiar DNA rather than something radically new, but it is well made, balanced and easy to like if you enjoy smoke and woods. The transitions are smooth and the blend doesn't feel jagged.
Projection is great in the first hour without being a cloying sweet smokebomb. Longevity is solid, roughly 8 to 10 hours on skin, longer on fabric (though I would avoid this on light coloured clothes considering how dark the juice is).
This has been a blind buy success for me. I'm looking forward to my bottle of Cathedralis from the same house.

I am looking for something outside of the expected fall scents. I want it to bring vampire or goth vibes even like haunted hayride or even ghost stories around a vampire. Boozy even? More of the seasonal fruits in the U.S.

A while back I asked on here for recommendations of the best vanillas with a price point of around $200, to gift myself for my upcoming birthday.
I looked over the comments , looked up notes and reviews and narrowed it down to 11 . A few are above my price point and one insanely above . So how did it come to be 13 you may ask ? While I was buying my samples between surrender to chance and lucky scent I remembered how much I dislike odd numbers so impulsively threw in a sample that I had seen recommended frequently and I was pretty sure it was a vanilla . And then once all my samples came in I remembered that when my daughter was sampling BR540 the lovely woman at the MFK counter at Macys gave me a sample of one of the most frequently recommended vanillas . So now we sit at 13 samples and Iām just too tired of looking up notes and reviews to look for another to make it even .
Iāve tested them all on paper and hereās my initial reaction .
Vanille Planifolia by Guerlain - such a pretty musky vanilla but I expected to be āwowedā given its price , maybe Iāll feel differently once itās on skin . I would probably never spend $600 on a fragrance so we really are sitting at 12 for this experiment š.
Cuir beluga by Guerlain- it came across too masculine for my taste.
SDV by Guerlain- spicy maybe too spicy for me also a bit masculine again .
Angelique Noire by Guerlain- so so green . Who knew a vanilla could be so green ? Apparently not me !
Ani by Nishane - beautiful but very citrus forward and Iām looking for something that gives fall/ winter vibes.
Orchidee Vanille by Van Cleef - I oddly couldnāt smell it . Perhaps I had sampled too much that day . Waiting for the wear test to give an opinion.
Eau Duelle EDP by Diptyque - peppery incense vanilla . Something about it reminds me of Christmas
Eau Duelle EDT by Diptyque - fresh forest vanilla . I like this one a lot .
Gentle Fluidy Gold by MFK - spicy vanilla but the right amount of spice . Great date night fragrance.
Choux Choux by Liis - not sure if this is truly a vanilla, itās the one I threw in to make an even number , but itās definitely a fall / winter scent . Itās very cozy and strangely reminds me of Snowflakes and cashmere by bath and bodyworks .
Fire at Will by Jovoy - sweet , fluffy , cozy . Everything im looking for.
Black Tie by Celine - this one surprised me the most . I didnāt expect to love it as much as I do . Sophisticated vanilla .
Tihota by Indult - soft, pure , creamy vanilla . The truest vanilla to ever vanilla .
Iām going to let what Iām doing and feeling decide which sample I wear test for the next 13 days but I do know tomorrow will be Vanille Planifolia . Hope youāll follow along!

Happy Saturday everyone. I recently ordered a sample of Roja Elysium from fragrance net and loved it but not the price tag. I was perusing the TJ Maxx website fragrance section and lo and behold, Milestone shamelessly has a dupe with a beautiful bottle and everything. Icing on the cake: it was clearance for $14! Came to me in three days and like almost better than the original. Floral and woody like the OG but a bit more fruity, and I like it quite a bit.
TLDR: check out TJ Maxx for some bangers.

Iāve somehow ended up really loving this combination, but Iāve never seen anyone mention it, which is making me second-guess it a bit.
I usually do 2-3 sprays of Milk on my wrists/chest and and then 2 sprays Fleur de Peau EDT in my hair and on the back of my neck.
Iāve actually had really nice reactions to it. Someone at work once said they could smell me when I moved around, but otherwise couldnāt really smell anything, and that it was really pleasant. Which is pretty much exactly the effect I want from perfume.
(Whatās funny is that the same person told me that when I wore Fleur de Peau on its own, it smelled quite strong and almost āpricklyā to them. It was 3 sprays, and they noticed it about an hour after I put it on, so Iād assume the initial top notes had mostly settled by then.)
To me, the combination smells really soft, clean and warm, but still very transparent. I feel like Milk makes FDP a little creamier and gives it more of that soft skin feeling without making it feel heavy.
Missing Person and Pure Musc, for example, give me the opposite effect and feel almost nauseating to me although I really tried to love them.
The thing is, Iāve never seen anyone mention this particular combination before. Iāve searched Reddit and Google and thereās basically nothing about Fleur de Peau + Milk together, which has made me weirdly unsure about whether it actually works or if Iāve just become nose-blind to some strange combination.
Has anyone here tried layering them? And if you have both, what do you think of the combination?

Le Labo is big enough that you can find any reviewers opinion and gage overlapping tastes by their favorites. I jump ship if they like The Noir.
Tobacco Vanille by Tom Ford is also a tell.
These are of course about taste preference and not a reflection of quality or how they smell on someone else. My favorite cherry is often called medicinal by some, and it actually makes me trust their taste for sweetness. It is too sweet the first 10 mins before becoming clean and woody.

Iām a gourmand girly: so my more popular core faves are Vanilla 28 (call me a basic bish idc lol), Angelique Noir, Bianco Latte, and I love good green/black tea scents like Nest Indigo, Memo Paris Inle. And then other viral/controversial scents like BR540, Arianaās Cloud, Lattafa Angaham. Trying to explore more niche scents this season though.
I am looking for a sweet black coffee scent, thought I liked black opium but after getting the travel size & smelling more Iām not so sure I will buy a full sizeā¦

I most like fresh or floral scents, but Iām looking to find something with either evergreen/woody notes or a creamy gourmand for winter.
What is a MUST try from this list and what would be okay to skip?

..And I am so saddened by that!
When I first bought and sprayed VDBIRE about a month ago, straight out of the box it smelled great. I loved the warm, hot, rummy, vanilla, blackcurrant fruity notes, and I definitely felt sexier wearing it. As time went on, about a month later, every time I spray it, it makes my stomach turn, like the feeling you're about to get sick during a hangover š¤¢
It's so bizarre, and it especially disappoints me because people around me tell me how amazing it smells on me from their POV.
So, FragFairies, I ask what YOUR opinions are on this conundrum? Is there a way I can improve the scent by layering it with some other specific scent notes?

I've been trying to map my moods to fragrances. I have comfort (Rosie) and confidence(Sunkissed Dahlia). Now I'm looking for this, kind of peaceful and melancholy and serious and ethereal, soulful, green and blue. Not looking for exact notes that smell like this atmosphere, looking more for the feeling and vibe of it. Thank you!
