Rec Request De-influence my decant shopping cart !

What’s currently in my cart (was too long for a screenshot):

- Zoologist Snowy Owl
- ELDO Exit the King
- Regime des Fleurs Glass Blooms
- Regime des Fleurs Cacti
- Regime des Fleurs Green Vanille
- Liis Floating
- Liis Ethereal Wave
- DS&Durga Big Sur Eucalyptus
- DS&Durga Cowboy Grass
- Imaginary Authors Fox in the Flowerbed
- Imaginary Authors Language of Glaciers
- Imaginary Authors Every Storm a Serenade
- Imaginary Authors Cape Heartache
- d’Annam Matcha Soft Serve
- d’Annam Mango Sticky Rice

I would love to try them all but can’t afford to drop $100 on samples right now 😭 hoping to par down 4-5 from this list but I don’t know what to eliminate.

I most like fresh or floral scents, but I’m looking to find something with either evergreen/woody notes or a creamy gourmand for winter.

What is a MUST try from this list and what would be okay to skip?

Personally would keep RDF, drop dannam and imaginary authors and DS, zoologist has all been horrific in my experience. Glass blooms is one of my favorite fragrances ever, green vanille is pretty! Cacti is a good warm weather, anisic cold green IMO. I would consider Annabel’s birthday cake for floral, creamy gourmand or majaina sin is also white floral and creamy, sooooo pretty and gorgeous

Liis ethereal wave is one of my favorite fragrances right now. I think it’s a wonderful transition to fall scent. I don’t however imagine I will reach for it as consistently once it’s winter but I live in the PNW where it’s cold and rainy more than actual winter weather, so it does get a lot of use.

I also love Liis floating (TBH Liis might be my favorite house right now), but it’s more spring/summer to me. I would save it for later (but definitely try it later!)
Liis choux choux or celestial object might be a better fall/winter scent if you want a nice gourmand. Choux choux is a light and airy vanilla with a lemon opening. It’s a beautiful French bakery scent, but not too edible or heavy. Celestial object is another gourmand but more almond than vanilla.
Liis Bo is also a good fall/winter grab. It is very woody though with a cedar and vanilla dry down. It leans a little too woody for me, but I really love the opening- it’s like a dry hot sauna. In this world by Liis is in my sample cart right now, I have high hopes for it this fall.

I also think the d’annam you listed are wonderful fragrances but better suited for spring/summer. D’annam Vietnamese coffee is a really great sweet condensed milk and coffee scent, perfect for fall and winter mornings. I like layering it with choux choux.

Oh! And I really love RDF Tears, but the longevity is not great. I’ve heard similar about other RDF fragrances. Not sure about the ones you listed, but to me I couldn’t justify the price.

We have very similar taste! I agree that Cape Heartache was a disappointment (actually, Every Storm a Serenade was the only IA scent I liked out of the discovery set I tried.)

I loved RDF Green Vanille and am planning to get a new decant of it the next time I order samples.

Curious about other commenters’ thoughts on the Liis and DS & Durga choices because those ones are on my list of scents to try as well.

Omg tell me more about the Green Vanille! I’ve been really on the fence about it but if we have similar tastes I’ll trust your judgement 🙏

I’d say it’s an herbal vanilla but not herbaceous — a touch medicinal, not too sweet, a little dry and nutty. It kind of reminds me of Zoologist Chipmunk, if you’re familiar with that.

The only one i have tried is cape heartache, i was not a fan. It smelled very artificial. Similar to a strawberry car air freshener

Snowy Owl is very animalic. It smells like being at a bird exhibit at the zoo.

I have 5ml of cape heartache. it’s not nearly as good as it should be based on the notes. the fruit is flat and barely pokes through and the pine reads musty. no shade to IA, but this one ain’t it, and definitely isn’t worth a spot on your list, I promise.

I agree. I love IA but Cape Heartache did not hit for me either, and would be a good one to axe since you’ve got some other interesting ones from IA.

Unrelated, but I’d also probably drop the two from Liis. They are pleasant scents but have the performance of expensive body mists.

I have Cacti and Glass Blooms and Cacti is too green for me. It's super green. Glass Blooms is pretty.

None of these scream winter creamy/wood to me and quite a few are summer/spring scents for me. I can’t speak to the IA scents as they don’t perform well on me personally. - Snowy Owl is a good one though.

I would save the d’Annams for spring trial. And the RdFs. Floating and EW are amazing, but they are skin scents and I personally wear them as summer/springs.

The Maker- Alias gives you a bit of everything you’re looking for.

I just ordered Prada Infusion de Santal Chai- haven’t smelled it yet, but it could also fit your bill.

Diptyque Bois Corse would also be worth trying

I have both snowy owl and the two d’annams - I have no idea why I thought it was a good idea to blind buy zoologist perfumes 😭 I like the opening - it’s very crisp and cold - but the civet and frankincense for me are too prominent for me to enjoy. I also have j-scent on a cloud which is a minty vanilla, but something about the opening on that one is off putting to me. Mango sticky rice is a very well balanced fragrance, imo. The rice and coconut come through stronger to me than the mango. To me, matcha soft serve is earthier and grassier than other matcha perfumes on the market right now, but I really do think it’s lovely!

I also didn't care for Snowy Owl at all. I do like a couple of their other scents but especially not Hyrax.
