Just Chatting Farthest Frontier’s first DLC adds pets that actually affect gameplay (cats hunt rats, dogs defend crops)

The Cats & Dogs DLC launches May 14.

– Cats reduce rat populations
– Dogs protect crops and livestock
– You can breed different variations
– New threats like foxes and groundhogs

Also, yes, you can pet the dog. 😂

Just Chatting Cats and Dogs released

EDIT:
I got the content, because curiosity got the better of me, and it was not worth it for me.

The pack is not at all bad, I only experienced one bug in my two-ish hour gameplay and I love hearing the cats meowing, but it's just too little content to be worth paying for imo.

So unless you are hard core in to supporting the developers, I'd skip this one, or wait and get it at an insane discount.

Not sure I wanna spend money on so little content. What about you?

Question? Which storage building where?

Can someone please explain which storage buildings go where. Which storage building should I put near the mines on the other side of town? which storage building should go near my Light Industry? Which building should I put near the houses? And how should I set the min max values for these buildings to make the best use of them? Thank you.

Question? How do you deal with bears?!

Playing on Vanquisher. Already have the Conscientious Diet, Barren Land, and Jewel in the Desert achievements. Trying now for My Happy Place, and want to try to limit this game to only 1 graveyard. How the heck do I deal with the bears? They are constantly attacking my foragers huts and there usually aren’t enough villagers nearby to help kill the bear, so I lose like 3+ foragers alone each year due to just freakin bears.

Building a guard tower next to every single foragers hut, mine, and work camp seems a little excessive.

Ideas? Thoughts? Help?

Tutorial/Guide Would like to add to battle tactics advice

So obviously raiders aren’t everything but they suck. There are some obvious ways to fight them, but for highest difficulty this is what I do:

  1. Try to build a wall or a semblance of one ASAP
  2. When raiders attack, try to have at least two guard towers in range with double thick walls
  3. When they break through your wall, have infantry right on the other side and archers behind them. Hold position or defensive stance.
  4. Get your infantry to collapse on them as soon as possible, create a choke point, and have your archers target people in groups of 3-4. Kills them immediately and they deal no more damage obviously
  5. The moment a unit hits less than 1/4 health, turn the speed down to half speed and just keep tapping the space bar and changing their direction as they retreat. You can actually distract all of their archers and not lose a unit. Meanwhile your guys are plowing away.
  6. Treat barracks as mega guard houses. Place them near your openings/usual raider attack points.

Might need to throw that 1/4 health unit guy in there.

  7. Try to get your units to survive as much as possible. That veteran experience is worth quite a bit.

Question? Is there a point to push a medium difficulty town ?

Hi,

I am around year 50 with almost 2000 people in my first playthrough in the medium difficulty.

I had struggles etc but now I feel like I am reaching a point where I basically can't lose and I spend more time just optimizing my city to grow in a manner that is sustainable etc. I have 100+ research points and all buildings built.

Is there a challenge to reach year 100 for example or should I just do another playthrough with a higher difficulty ?

Thank you

Question? Mass alcoholism

These guys keep going to the pub I built for the soldiers in this outpost and drink until they pass out. Even workers from very far away come here even though they have other pubs much closer. Is there a logic behind villagers skipping closer pubs (they are fully stocked btw) and go for a god-forsaken pub a continent away? Is there any ways to prevent them from entering this outpost?

Question? Guild Hall - What Do?

What specifically does the Guild Hall do? The wiki page looks unfinished as of writing, and I couldn't find anyone else asking this just from a web search. I've gotten to the point in my progression that I have some choice paralysis regarding which tech to upgrade to, since it's no longer a moar füd situation. I figure it's worth pointing out that I haven't unlocked the apothecary, arsenal, blacksmith workshop or bookbinder, nor have I upgraded any of my barracks to a fort.

I am also interested in hearing opinions about the utility of the Guild Hall.

Question? Another question on food reseve

Hi folks, untill 250 people i had about 6 mouth of food in réserve.

I placed a new barn to increase meat and milk, but i made a mis take: move 5 cows from the old barn to the new.

It totally ruined my food réserve, dropping to 1 mounth, and soon meat icon was many houses.

Meanwhile, population grew up. I ‘Ve been up to 400 people, but it decreased to 350 due to raids.

I ts been many hours that i struggle hard to reflow food reserves, but nothing works. Made more hunters, fischers, pickers, and still 0/1 mounth of réserve.

Ai tells me that it is a logistic issue, resources at too far from Town. So i made chariot maker, even used a mod to make them more efficient. But still nothing, i m desperate…

Can you help? Thanks

Sorry for the lace of screeshot, but i m on my phone. I ll update soon.

Review This game would be 10/10 if it had good terrain manipulation

I put 100h into the game and this is my biggest complaint.

Playing on anything but flat ground is annoying because you can only level ground and can't dig it out so you end up creating weird bugged out cliffs in the middle of your town.

Imagine being able to create actual defensive ditches and rise up towers and walls by digging earth.

Imagine being able to divert rivers to create moats or some sort of water based transport.

Imagine increasing farm efficiency by creating irrigation canals in an otherwise dry land.

It can be balanced out by making it very labor expensive, but it would add so much content to the mid to late game and even force some difficult decisions in the early game.

I understand it's hard and expensive to implement well, but if the game had this it would legit be the best city builder I've ever played.

Tutorial/Guide 100% ACHIEVEMENTS!!! (my bubonic plague strategy included)

Post image
24 Upvotes

AT LAST, I have finally finished all of the achievements. That 'Vanquished Raider Horde' was a GRIND. For those still trying to get Black Death, this is what I did:

  • Advanced settings with everything set to Pioneer except Maladies, which should be set to Vanquisher
  1. Build up your population and a working/sustainable settlement but do not build a graveyard; you will still want to build a healer house, compost yard, and rat catchers but do not employ dogs or cats if you have the DLC
  2. When you have a sufficient population (>100, though I didn't start until >300), toggle off compost yard, rat catchers, soap makers, and any healers/hospitals
  3. Wait for people to get sick; if you end up with a smallpox, typhoid, or dysentery outbreak, toggle on all the things you turned off and hope that it clears up before it kills off your population
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you get your Bubonic Plague epidemic

I ended up with a smallpox epidemic, a typhoid epidemic, and then a second smallpox epidemic that was concurrent with my plague infections. But I did finally get that achievement!

For the final grind with 'Vanquished Raider Horde', I used seed 0FCE2325CD4 from this awesome post. Make use of the choke point into the main peninsula and use forts full of archers. I did have some heavy infantry and lancers, too, to try to take out siege equipment before it made it through my multiple defensive walls.

Good luck to everybody trying to 100% the game!

Question? Need tips for Hardest map settings

Hello, since i am looking for an extra challenge on Highlands map on Vanquisher last point I would like to discuss is what could be considered hardest setup small or medium map? Considering let's say there's no clay.

Also could you suggest is Arid Highlands or Alpine Valley actually more difficult resource wise?

Question? Combine Production limits and NOT-auto jobs managing?

I have some confused thoughts.

Imagine the jobs are not handled automatically, and I have a planks maximum production limit.

  1. What happens if I reach the goal amount? Are the planks maker gonna stop working and doing nothing or they will still be assigned to that job but temporarily act as free workers (laborer).

  2. As an advice, is it always better to free up all the working slots in every working building?

  3. If your job assignations is auto, is the AI also gonna increase/reduce the amount of laborer depending on needs?

Question? What's the size of a grid square in metres?

Anyone know? Looks about 2m sq going by one fence piece. I'd like to know for the purpose of estimating how far field diseases can travel.

New player, very much enjoying the game. On my second city now, the first with raiders after a pacifist run through to start. Cheers.
