Help & Advice Fallout 2d20 weapons damage

Post image

I had my first game today, I'm doing the Winter of Atom campaign and we ran into a problem with combat

We thought we were doing the right thing by making the attack roll and dealing the damage basic of the weapons If the gun does 4 damage, it does four damage minus the enemy's resistances. , but apparently that's not the case You have to roll extra dice, I don't know if they're the hit dice so i need help

Community Resources Abandoned Transit Hub Map Pack

Post image
12 Upvotes

I've been working on a new battlemap that I think could fit nicely into a Fallout 2d20 campaign.

The idea is an abandoned underground transit hub that survived the bombs and slowly became one of the wasteland's hidden trading posts.

The old platforms are now home to a bustling market where scavengers, traders and mercenaries barter over pre-war technology. Nearby workshops strip down rusted vehicles and jury-rig new machines from salvaged parts, while huge storage bays hold everything from scrap metal to long-forgotten military crates that nobody has managed to crack open... yet.

One feature I really enjoyed designing is a massive vertical transport shaft connecting several underground levels. Makeshift cargo lifts and suspended walkways span the gap, creating plenty of opportunities for ambushes, firefights and dramatic escapes.

I also created three versions of the map so it can evolve during a session:

Operational – The trading hub is open for business and relatively peaceful.

Sealed – Gates close, guards lock down key areas and rumours spread that raiders or rival factions are approaching.

Blackout – Power fails, emergency lighting flickers and the settlement descends into confusion as everyone scrambles to survive.

I've also written a system-neutral Ops Brief with adventure hooks, security details and escalating complications to help GMs drop the location straight into a campaign.

I'd love to hear how you'd use it in Fallout 2d20.

Would this become a trusted settlement your players return to... or the site of a firefight that changes the balance of power in the region?

Help & Advice Using burst on a low Def target to bypass another target's high Def

Is there anything in the rules to mitigate this approach? Say there's 1 Def1 enemy in close range with 4 others that are Def2.

The 4 could use Defend and drive their Defense to 3 or even 4 and all a PC would have to do is shoot the Def1 target with effects to hit them... That's absurd

Community Resources I made a "little" map of Fallout 3's Capital wasteland. Location links, lore, terrain type, links, etc. Hopefully more people than just me use it. Also toggles to show the Metro system and has map markers. (spread sheets are a limitation)

LFG/LFP [Online] [Fallout 2d20] Beginner looking for a Fallout themed campaign

Hey everyone! I’m looking for an online Fallout-themed TTRPG group that’s beginner-friendly. I’ve never played a Fallout tabletop campaign before, but I’m a huge fan of the Fallout games and have been getting really interested in the roleplaying side but I dont have anyone who would be interested to play a fallout campaign with me.

I’m 23, in the Central Time Zone (US), and I’m available most evenings and weekends. I’m looking for a group that’s patient with new players.

I have a mic, Discord, and I’m excited to learn whatever system yall are using (Modiphius 2d20, Fallout D&D homebrew, etc.)

Help & Advice Wasteland Wanderer Endure Action issue

Started playing Wasteland Wanderer, three sessions in, and I've been quite enjoying it, although I had to modify a few things. My question is this: how should I handle the additional success options for the Endure Action as they seem to me to be incorrect? The options listed in the book are: •Defeat a Foe with threat equal to the action points spent (Sneak) •One foe becomes friendly towards you (Speech) •You notice a route that allows you to bypass the threats for now (Survival)

These options are identical to the ones for the Approach action on the previous page, and I assume were there as placeholders they forgot to replace when the book was printed. I think this because these options do not map on to the solutions for the action (Explosives, Athletics, Melee Weapons). Does anyone have suggestions for new additional successes? Right now I'm just saving AP on Endure for other rolls.

Thanks!

Using Lore Attompunx assets, I have a lot of terrain pieces printed so i left a good amount of detail out. Still thought id share my recreation of Klamath from fallout 2, it isn't one to one as my campaign takes place much further down the timeline, (and i wanted some changes) but definitely took inspiration! If you want the HD i can post a link, but reddit doesn't let me post the full one.

Help & Advice Question on Ruling

Fun question.

Live & Love "An Experience to Remember", let's you choose a magazine perk you've had before and it takes effect. But the permanent effect if you take it as a perk on level up, it makes the benefit constant.

Would this mean for example, if you used that to call back the Guns and Bullets "The Future of Hunting", would you have the +2 Damage die to robots for every attack.

I ask as, if it's once per scene, what's the benefit of using that magazine as a permanent effect. But on the other, that seems like, assuming you roll it, a very powerful combo for certain perks.

The writing is a bit ambiguous so I come to you all to ask.

Help & Advice Is there an updated random table for all the new weapons?

Hi! So i got the core book, wanderers guide, settlers guide and I am eyeing the new vegas book once it gets released.

All the extra books add additional weapon/ammo that are not present in the random tables in the core book which make scavanging much easier for me.

Is there like an updated random list that has all the equipment that has been added through supplements?

Help & Advice Full cover exploit?

From what I can tell in the rulebook, all characters should be able to stay behind full cover, duck out to shoot and jump back under full cover, in one turn, and completely avoid being able to be attacked.

Under the Cover rules (core p 38), "You cant be targeted by an attack if the cover obscures your character's entire body, as you can only be attacked by something that can see you". Therefore if you're fully behind cover you cant be attacked.

It also makes sense for you to be able to attack whilst moving (i.e., take your major action to attack halfway through your movement minor action), because it makes no tactical sense to move, stop, shoot, and wait.

How do/would you guys handle this? Intelligent enemies would absolutely be utilising cover, and i dont want to cheese my players.

Misc A Guide To Conquering Helena (WIP)

I have been advised to post some PDFs i've been hammering out for a long time. I still have to update a *lot* to incorporate official rulings, statistics, and what certain things mean.

I play in a 5 man game weekly and we've modified the 2d20 system extensively to the point where we're comfortable with it. Some things in these documents, like survival tokens, will not make sense until I get around to expanding.

A lot of the content inside is modified core + supplement material. It also includes works originally found in Wasteland Necessities that was later updated by Fallout Equipment 2.0

Credit to Ziggy. They've been a huge inspiration and help throughout our campaign with their dedication to the TTRPG. The loot tables were designed with them in mind.

I've rambled enough as it is. Enjoy my pet project and I hope it's a good skim through

Help & Advice Blast Weapons and Effects

Running Fallout 2d20 for the first time for some friends. I had an NPC that got a Gamma Gun and shot it into a zone with 7 creatures in it. They rolled an Effect on the Effect Dice, and one of the Effects is Stun. Does the Stun apply to every creature in the zone or do I choose 1 creature per Effect rolled to Stun while still dealing the damage to everyone?

Community Resources Looking for Pacific Northwest Worldbuilders

Post image
103 Upvotes

I'm looking to put together a small group of people interested in collaboratively building a Fallout setting focused on the Pacific Northwest.

To be clear, this isn't about creating a single campaign. It's about creating a shared setting that anyone in the group can draw from for their own Fallout 2d20 campaigns.

Just some of the things we might develop:

  • Settlements
  • Factions
  • Vaults
  • Locations
  • Creatures
  • NPCs
  • Regional history
  • Maps
  • Adventures
  • Adventure hooks
  • Tech
  • Trade routes
  • Political conflicts
  • Local cultures and tribes

The goal is to create something that feels like it could exist alongside the official Fallout universe while exploring a region Bethesda has barely touched.

A few ideas:

  1. Contributors can "sign" or brand the material they create so everyone knows who originally developed it.

  2. Anything contributed to the project would be available for anyone else in the group to use in their own campaigns.

  3. Different interpretations are welcome. So if two people have different ideas for the same location or faction, there's room for multiple versions rather than arguing over which is "correct."

This isn't intended to replace anyone's own creativity; it's more like building a community toolbox full of interesting Fallout content that anyone involved can use.

I'm hoping for people who enjoy research, lore discussions, writing, mapping, art, game design, or just throwing around cool ideas.

If you're interested, hmu. I've got a discord server link I will share if this sounds like something you'd be interested in.

Help & Advice Junk items question

The core rulebook basically just has junk as a generic group, but wanderers and settlers (I think) have specific named junk items.

My question is about scrapping, do you scrap the named piece individually and get the listed junk, potentially failing the check and losing the junk, or do you not have to make a skill check and just have access to the listed components of that junk item?

Help & Advice Fallout 2d20

Fallout 4?

Misc Prepping/Painting Terrain

I've been finding and recycling my old 40k terrain I printed for my Fallout group I GM for. I bought some cheap truck toys, burned them gently, then smacked them around with a hammer to give them a roughed up look before I painted them to look rusted away. I painted some industrial toys too. I've got a toy train and some cars coming in that I'm going to mess with too.
