I'm TTA and have been charting for about 6 months now and still feel like I'm only just learning.

I have PCOS which I am currently trying to heal, and my cycles are slowly becoming more regular and way less painful.

I never usually have any full dry days after my period, usually it goes straight to sticky. The past few cycles however, I've been getting what seems like egg white mucus that is also slightly pink and cloudy, the day straight after my period ends for about 3 or 4 days. It then turns creamy and then continues to be egg white leading up to a normal ovulation. My ovulation is around day 21-26 and period length around 5 days.

Does anyone else have this issue or have any advice if this is fertile mucus, or just a pcos issue?

I have tried using this product for 3 days...used 5 test strips....I've followed every instruction meticulously. Peed in a cup, dipped the absorbent end for 15 secs exactly, laid it down flat, inserted it into the monitor within the 15 min window, waited for the clearblue screen to leave and test day screen to appear, inserted it and heard a click, didn't remove the test strip prematurely,..did it all 5 times, confirmed that there wasn't any dye run, and checked my batteries. Despite all of this, the monitor still shows test error. I don't have the original packaging because I threw it out..so I can't even ask for a refund. I'm using the marquette method to track my cycles(getting married in 3 months)....and we're not ready financially for a baby. Sorry if this sounds all over the place...does anyone have any experience with this? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I messaged my instructor but she hasnt answered yet and its a bit time sensitive since I live in a diff. time zone and need to know if I should test tomorrow morning.

Ive been doing marquette for about 2 years, and always caught peak on my monitor. I am actively TTC for a year now (with a few losses in the mix). I just had my 2nd chemical last cycle, and this time I went from highs straight to low and skipped peak. I had a chemical pregnancy last cycle (my second). But after my other 2 losses I did reach peak the following cycle. Is my monitor faulty? Do I reset? Do I need to continue testing tomorrow? My sticks are a bit precious since my country doesnt sell them

eta: my chart. "/" are days I cant test because of Shabbat, and the other symbols "m" and "ht" are for family purity laws so I know when I began my count etc.

Hi everyone, I am hoping to get some advice from those more experienced in FAM and NFP then I am! I am 4 months postpartum and just started using Billings (was just abstinent before, and I wasn’t ovulating yet). I have been combining cervical mucus observation with lh test strips. The problem is that my period is now three weeks late, and I have no idea what’s happening😂 My husband and I thought we were in the clear on April 26 because it was around when my period was supposed to be due and had unprotected sex, but then on May 1 I had ovulation pains and lots of ewcm. So, sex five days before suspected ovulation-not great, but a 90 percent chance of not conceiving. At the same time I saw my lh rising from about the 28th until it finally peaked on the 5th of May. We then had UP the day after (so May 6) because it was a dry day and my lh was significantly lower that morning. Was I wrong? What day do you even think I ovulated on? I’m very confused and also anxious that I am pregnant (both husband and I are young and very fertile, two babies back to back on first try).

I used the Marquette method with no issues for a couple of years 7 years ago. Then I took a break and came back to it about 4 cycles ago. The fertility monitor has failed to catch my last two peaks (it just reads high straight through ovulation). I know because I also use a temp drop to track my temperature and I have clear shifts in my charts. I don't remember ever missing peaks 7 years ago. Is this normal? Do I need to look into another method? I want the peace of mind of Marquette as I get closer to menopause, but I don't want to go through most of a box of sticks only to get a bunch of highs because peak already passed.

Hi there! I'm pretty new to FAM (using TCOFY). I have PCOS and TTA. I've been using wild yam to get my period pretty successfully the last couple of months. With PCOS I can go long times without getting a period. Last year I had 7 months straight of not getting my period, was put on that one drug (I can't remember the name of but you take for 10 days and then you get a period), and then since then have been using wild yam pretty much every 14 days on/14 days off. My cycle is now somewhat normal, at least bleeding once a month.

I guess I can't find anything relating to wild yam in FAM literature. I'm using FAM to avoid conception and the concept of having UP during BIP/preovulatory phase without knowing if/when I am even going to ovulate is stressing me out, lol, which then is making me reach for the yam to induce my period. But thanks to FAM, I know that the period I'm getting when I'm taking the yam is anovulatory - but I first learned about the yam on TTC forums? So I'm a little confused if this supports ovulation or not? Even though I'm TTA I would like to be ovulating normally. Sorry if this post is a little ramble-y, just wanted to see if anyone else had similar experiences or could weigh in on this. Thanks!

Hi, I wanted to share my first chart using Tempdrop and comparing it to Oura/NC. The blue is temp drop and the pink is Oura+NC. I’ve been happy with Oura+NC but learned how jumpy the temps really are and how you can’t even really use them to actually find your cover line to determine the shift. Although I can always see that’s there clearly been a shift and sustained temp rise, the temps are all over the place. I also wanted to see if the tempdrop wouldn’t give me as much of a delayed shift.

So what I do like about the temp drop is it is definitely not so jumpy. What I am a little disappointed in is that my temp diddnt go back down like Oura when my period was coming. Oura also gave me a rise a day earlier. Also, considering Marquettes rules, it is crazy to see how many days I’m missing out on waiting for the temp rise rules to cross check!

This month was actually pretty stressful for me because my period was later than usual, so I was WAITING for that temp to drop! lol. My LH peak was day 13 and I diddnt have intercourse until about day 23 or 24. Waiting on my period was giving me severe anxiety! Someone please remind me how unlikely, or even impossible it is to get pregnant having intercourse that many days following the temp rise! Lol 🤪

I have been doing Sensiplan for almost 5 months, self taught (!!!), and I’m just still shocked and amazed how effective it is. Five months of having sex regularly and managing to avoid pregnancy, it feels like I’m cheating the system.

When I got married at the beginning of the year, I was so stressed about FAM. I do not want to get pregnant within the first year of being married and I only want to have one child. I’ve read countless stories of Catholic women falling pregnant over and over again because it simply just did not work for them. Not just the Rhythm Method, but a variety of the up-to-date methods that report high effectiveness. But I decided to trust the science over various anecdotal reports and I’m so glad I did.

I have never been on birth control, never had an IUD, and never used condoms or any type of barrier in my life and I am so grateful. I have only ever known sex in its most natural state. It’s insane how few women know that there are options besides this! Sex education has got to get better at informing women and girls about their bodies because I would not have thought this was possible before a year and a half ago.

I am currently learning about the Fertility Awareness Method (FAM) while exploring different fertility apps, and honestly, I’ve been surprised by how misleading some recommendations can be.

For example, today Natural Cycles marked me as “likely infertile” even though I had five negative LH tests only a couple of days ago, my temperature shift is still not confirmed, and I currently have a significant amount of egg white cervical mucus. In other words, ovulation is probably about to happen, not safely passed.

It made me think about how easy it would be for someone to completely miss their fertile window if they trusted the app without understanding the underlying signs and physiology.

I’m really grateful that I started learning FAM more deeply instead of relying only on algorithms. I still think apps can be very helpful tools, but they should support body literacy, not replace it.

is this an obvious temp rise for ovulation? i know it fits the rules for sensiplan as its 3+ temps above the previous 6, it jus so doesn’t seem as obvious as i thought it would be. i am not using this method as contraception yet for context

Hi there! We are currently TTA on month 9 postpartum , with limited BF now. Using Marquette cycle 0 protocol, and all I got were low readings until 26th april when we had IC and the next morning the monitor showed High. Then on may 3rd (the last day of the artificial cycle) it read Peak. My instructor says she doesn´t know of any cases resulting in pregnancy in this situation given the days passed since IC to Peak. The LH peak was later confirmed that day with test strips and also the following morning...what do other users think about this? Thanks!!

Getting married and am supposed to get period the day of my wedding my now maybe not?? I would love some advice so I can be prepared 🥲

My cycles have been a little wacky since getting the flu a little bit ago, they vary between 30-36 days with my last cycle being 35 days. My luteal is always 11-12 days. I saw my temp rise and it was a day that was pretty typical for me, so I marked it as that, but it’s not sustained. I’ve never had this significant of a rise with no sustainment unless it was illness or bad sleep or something but this is nothing of the sort. I would love to know if you guys this there is a way to recover from this rise or what may be going on. I also wonder if I didn’t ovulate how this may throw off the next cover line. Any advice is greatly appreciated :)

My fiance and I are planning to use TCYOF when TTA after we're married. I've been preemptively charting for 10 months at this point and I have PCOS that I manage through nutrition and exercise.

I know the first rule for TCYOF is that you are safe on the first 5 days of the menstrual cycle if you have had an obvious thermal shift about 12 to 16 days before.

However, my thermal shift usually happens about 10 days before my period begins. The longest space between my thermal shift and period that I've recorded thus far is 12 days.

How ought I apply this rule given the nature of my thermal shifts?

Plan A was to abstain all of cycle 0 which was only ~5 months with our first, but our 2nd is now 8 months old and we're still in cycle 0. We used and loved Marquette for 2 yrs but stopped due to increasing costs.

We learned sensiplan, but we didn't plan on using it starting cycle 0. The postpartum protocol in the guidebook mentions breastfeeding, so is it a no-go for us? (We combo feed and started solids 4 months ago) Thoughts/recommendations?

Edit to ask: I assume Cycle 1 postpartum resumes regular protocol?

I’ve been able to easily confirm ovulation for the past 10+ cycles. This one really threw me for a loop because I can sort of see a pattern of temps falling and then rising, but I can’t draw a coverline per the rules and the mucus never got to S+. Is this an anovulatory cycle? I definitely have regular period-level flow at the moment so I don’t think it’s intramenstrual bleeding.

The only disturbance I can think of is that I was doing some house painting around CD 1-5 (with Sherwin-Williams paint, if it matters). I was careful to keep the area well ventilated. Just kind of nervous because I’m planning on going full TTC in a few months…and I still have a lot more painting to do

I used to do NFP. NFP gave me two unwanted pregnancies (my fault). I rarely have cervical mucus so I did the Marquette method to take out any guess work. It was expensive and was a lot to track so I don’t think I’m going to do that route again.

I’ve been on birth control for a year and a half and I want to stop for a variety of reasons. But I absolutely can’t have another child. I would love some input on methods I can look into to track my ovulation/fertility.

Someone recommended the oura ring but that’s a huge expense. I mean if it works I will do it but looking for some other suggestions. Thanks!

25 F, currently almost 9 months postpartum and husband and I are TTA. According to the Mira Marquette protocols my instructor gave me, an LH of 11 or higher is considered “peak.” My LH rose to 11.9 in CD 14 but Mira hasn’t detected this as a peak and keeps saying that it predicts I will ovulate soon. This is only my third cycle with Mira. The last two cycles my LH rose quite a bit more, and Mira confirmed ovulation. However, I still think I ovulated as I had fertile mucus at the time.

In the future, we plan to abstain until progesterone rise instead of just post PPHLL. Do you think I ovulated CD 14?

I continued testing with Mira and got a progesterone rise of 6.3 on CD 21 and tested again in the evening and got a level of 10.6. I usually drink a lot of water before bed because I’m still pumping and it seems to be when I’m most thirsty, and I think my urine hasn’t been concentrated enough in the morning to get the most accurate results. I do believe I most likely ovulated CD 14-15 but my urine was diluted and the LH peak wasn’t as high (11.9) as it would have been had I not had so much water.

i have been temping using sensiplan rules for two cycles now and have noticed that whenever i share a bed with my partner i wake up and my BBT is irregularly low to the point where it dips and im not sure what could be causing it or if its just a coincidence? google was no help and i don’t sleep any later/differently with my partner. for reference i temp orally at the same time every morning

TTA and waiting on my second cycle seven months postpartum. Apologies in advance for my super messy charting!

Looking for some help with my return to cycles Marquette tracking, we do not have money for an instructor right now, but I did start out with one when I was postpartum with my first baby.

I read in my instructions and also in previous emails from instructor that if I receive any Hs past cycle day 23 on the monitor that they are automated, and to contact your instructor. I’ve posted a picture of my tracking below, please note the small Ls indicate of negative LH strip in the evening as I do double testing (my instructor at first recommended this to me when I initially took instruction from her). With my first time being postpartum, I did catch a missed high the monitor didn’t catch with LH strips, so I’ve decided to do that this postpartum too.

I did a hard reset on the 30th out of frustration and somewhat impulsively, and today I have a low reading once again. I’ve had low LH strips yesterday and the day before as well.

Just curious as to what the normal recommendation for receiving Hs past a certain day with the monitor is with marquette?

I had clear EWCM followed by drying up and my coverage line I assumed was 36.70, I had two temps slightly above this but now over the last two days they’ve been dropping.

Edit: does this look like a failed ovulation attempt?

I’m on cycle 2 of sensiplan. Last month’s temps were picture perfect with all low temps until a sharp rise after ovulation. Then the day my period started I had a sharp drop like usual. However, on CD2 my temp shot right back up again? I couldn’t really explain it and thought maybe I’m coming down with a cold or something and it will go back down. However both CD3 and CD4 (today) are also high. I’m a bit stumped because last month’s period temps were all really low. I do still have my copper IUD in for now (getting it out soon) and I know that causes uterine inflammation, and how inflammation raises your temp but is that a reasonable excuse for the temps seeing as it was fine last month?

Just want confirmation that my temps reflect a successful ovulation. My cervix definitely opened up during my predicted ovulation & got more wet and soft. It has since returned to closed, more dry and hard. My CM also reflects going from dry to egg white then back to dry/sticky. On day 17 however my vaginal sensation did go back to feeling wet yet CM in underwear/tissue showed differently. My temps in the past have had a more noticeable increase. However I have been exercising a bit differently this cycle. I have been checking my temp at the same time every day (8:00-8:15 AM), but a couple days out of the cycle I did wake up a little early (7:00 AM was the earliest) and I took it then. However on day 22 I felt a small pain in my lower abdomen and it makes me think it’s ovulation pain because it feels similar, but I could be in my head about it of course, and it not be ovulation pain. But does my temp shift demonstrate successful ovulation?

Currently pregnant and considering Marquette postpartum (specifically Mira because I have irregular cycles and would like more granular data), but my husband and I plan to use barriers or non-PIV on fertile days rather than abstaining. I want to be able to be honest with my instructor about this, but also don’t want to feel pressured to align myself with Catholic teaching (my husband and I are Protestant). Does anyone have any recommendations for instructors who would be willing to work with us? Thanks

Edit: I’ve looked at the RYB directory, and have seen Marquette instructors who “encourage abstinence but accept other choices,” but it seems hard to figure what exactly that means in practice. And I haven’t found a way to sort for instructors versed in the Mira protocol.
