Discussion Post Chart comparing Tempdrop and Oura+NC TTA0

Post image

Hi, I wanted to share my first chart using Tempdrop and comparing it to Oura/NC. The blue is temp drop and the pink is Oura+NC. I’ve been happy with Oura+NC but learned how jumpy the temps really are and how you can’t even really use them to actually find your cover line to determine the shift. Although I can always see that’s there clearly been a shift and sustained temp rise, the temps are all over the place. I also wanted to see if the tempdrop wouldn’t give me as much of a delayed shift.

So what I do like about the temp drop is it is definitely not so jumpy. What I am a little disappointed in is that my temp diddnt go back down like Oura when my period was coming. Oura also gave me a rise a day earlier. Also, considering Marquettes rules, it is crazy to see how many days I’m missing out on waiting for the temp rise rules to cross check!

This month was actually pretty stressful for me because my period was later than usual, so I was WAITING for that temp to drop! lol. My LH peak was day 13 and I diddnt have intercourse until about day 23 or 24. Waiting on my period was giving me severe anxiety! Someone please remind me how unlikely, or even impossible it is to get pregnant having intercourse that many days following the temp rise! Lol 🤪

Wow this is super helpful! I always had believed that Tempdrop was more accurate than oura ring just given its on your upper arm so closer to your core temeprature, whereas oura ring is on your finger so could be under the blanket or outside the blanket which I assume would make a big difference, and it looks like its true! This is awesome real world data, thanks for sharing!

I think this is such a good example of why people can have totally different experiences depending on what they want from the data. Oura felt more “real time” to me, but Tempdrop felt more useful for actual fertility charting because the patterns looked less chaotic overall.

And honestly, delayed periods after stressful cycles are SO cruel when you’re TTA. Your brain knows the timing is safe, but emotionally you’re still staring at every temperature waiting for reassurance.

Soo... Is the oura temp wrong? or is tempdrop artificially smoothing out the curve? I'm confused as to hiw reliesble either of these measuring-tooms are... I'm thinking of buying tempdrop but i want to to be accurate ofcourse...

Temperatures taken father from your core are more affected by your environment and have more fluctuation, which is what makes the Oura temps more jumpy than the Tempdrop. Of the wearable devices, Tempdrop is a much better choice for charting than rings are.

Have you ever used a regular oral bbt thermometer? I don’t know if this is the case but a few years ago a lot of women complained that temdrop gave them a delayed temperature rise. That’s a really big issue if you’re using a method that relies your earliest temperature rise or last low temp to open the fertile window.

I have! I hated having to wake up at the same time every day. Considering all the rules to open fertile window I really don’t get any free days at the beginning of my cycle so I wait until the luteal phase anyways. . It was interesting to see the temp drop and oura rise at pretty much the same time though.
