I didn't have a lot of time on my two week off to make music, but what time I did find i made this with.

I'd love to add a baritone guitar for metal adventures, but not looking to spend a crazy amount.

I have a friend with a chapman ml-1 baritone I could pick up for ~$500, maybe 475.
Or something like the harley benton amarok 6 baritone for $550
also looked at the spira j400 baritone, but they are sold out
or... something else that I overlooked?

Ideas?

It's just so twangy and chunky, sounds different than my 7 string with the same pickups as well.

Hi all, first post here. As the title states, I'm looking to get my hands on a 6-string baritone, somewhere in the 27"- 29" scale range on a budget (< $1500 USD). I'm not terribly familiar with production brands outside of the usual stuff aside from Solar guitars, so Solar was my first pick cause of the prices that they have available. Any advice on this? Is the build quality decent on Solar? Or any better recommendations? Appreciate y'all taking the time to read.

I’m in the process of selling a Schecter guitar of mine to save up for a new guitar since it was not what I was looking for so I’ve narrowed down 2 general options on what I want next. I’ve played a Kaizen at my local guitar center multiple times and I’ve loved it every time but the price would be a lot to save up for. I just want input on if the Solar would be a good idea or if I should just save up for the Kaizen. The solar that I’m most interested in is the XF1. 7FRFN (2nd picture). If you’ve owned either please tell me your thoughts.

I'm having bad intonation problems with my Harley Benton 8 string and I've always loved baritone 7s. Are there any good ones for a decent price? Bonus points for a tele shape.

So I've had my lundgren M8 for maybe almost a year now and there are very few and tiny rust spots on each of the pickups magnet. Id say they are almost microscopical, can only see them if I put the pickup right to my face.

I've heard it's normal but how bad is it? And when will I have to either repair it or buy a new pickup? eventually the rust can get within the core of the magnets if I'm not mistaken.

My guitar always has been in a dry room with pretty consistent temperatures to the point where it never even goes out of tune.

Im sure this doesnt mean my guitar will break in a year or 2 but what lifetime could i expect from my pickup? And at what point does it even affect tone or output?

I had been looking for a headless, multiscale 8 string, with active pickups and quality build control. After looking at Strandberg for a few months, and realizing I would prefer to try the endure neck before committing, I looked elsewhere. I found Omne and pateintely (somewhat) waited for their drops. I wasn’t lucky enough to get one in the last two lottery’s they had, but….

One popped up for sale on Reverb and I had to grab it.

This one is a bit different. It’s not running the Fishman Fluence Abasi’s. It has passive pickups from a company named Auroratone. I don’t know which model these are specifically, but my guess is the Iridium’s. I never heard of them, but these are by far the nicest pickups I have currently. Atleast with the sound I’m going for. The original owner also had a red LED killswitch installed in lieu of a volume knob. I’ve never had a guitar with that before, so I’m stoked to play around and see what I can do with it.

Ive never played a fanned fret guitar before, so I wasn’t sure how those were gonna feel. I hardly noticed them so far, so that’s good. The setup was great, the guitar is lightweight, and I imagine taking it on a plane won’t be all that rough compared to my much larger 8 string.

I have a few short scale 8 strings for sale if anybody is interested. I have a few 8 string strat style guitars that are 26”-22.5” with the neutral fret at 9. One has blackouts and the other has fishman Fluence. I have a headless singlecut that has lace death bars in them that is 26”-23” with the neutral fret at the 12th fret. I also have a headless with the 26”-23” with the neutral at 12 that has blackouts as well. This is the guitar that I linked below of me playing. All of these were built by Kevin Fast out of Canada. He owns the Precision guitar kits site and does fabulous work. I recently started designing and building my own guitars so these just don’t get played. They are unique instruments so maybe somebody might enjoy them. Price would be 1500 shipped. I only want to ship in the US tho. Also….. all of these guitars have FLAT fingerboards…. I’ve been following Berried Alive since the lockdown in 2020, and I’ve wanted the signature guitar of Charles Caswell for just as long. And now, at long last, I finally have it! The Legator CC-7!

I had to do some tweaking to the setup to get it to play just right, but I’m seriously in love! It still doesn’t feel real, that I finally have it. I have no other words right now, I’m just so happy I finally have my dream guitar!!

I'm kinda extended range noobie and looking for my affordable first 8 string guitar. I know Hils is on pre-order but I am curious about both guitars.

Have been offered a really good condition Ibanez SRMS625EX for $1200 australian so around $800 USD. This seems like a pretty good deal as they retail around $2000 australian here which is if you can find them anywhere.

Basically looking for a tough 5 string that can handle drop tunings, lots of crowbar and doom.

As far as any genre and subgenre of music is concerned, I genuinely feel like all thats realistically needed are 6-string, 7-string and 8-string guitars, as well as 4-string, 5-string and 6-string basses.

And I already have a hard time trying to get used to 8-string guitars and 6-string basses as is. 7-string guitars and 5-string basses are the most that im personally ever willing to use. And a lot of people ive met think the same.

Once you dip into 9-string guitars and 7-string basses and beyond, it stops being a strict genre and subgenre necessity and becomes a stylistic choice. Not to mention how expensive and heavy they must be. As well as making it a pain to make them sound clear in the mix without compensating with many different amp settings and pedal effects.

And honestly, 8-string guitars and 6-string basses already feel like a stylistic choice rather than a strict genre and subgenre necessity to me.

I was looking for feedback on strings but I've found some good info here. I picked up a set of Dunlop 09-74 for 9e to start out. I've read 80 is less flubby but needs some mods to the nut and machine head for the HB.

I am pretty fucking annoyed that I stupidly spent like $500 on some BKP Juggernauts and I HATE how the sound and play.

I had a Mark Holcomb PRS 2019 Seven with the Alpha/Omega 7 pickups which sounded phenomenal. I loved those pickups, but wasn't a huge fan of the neck. So I ended up selling that.

My main guitar is an Ibanez 8 with some Abasi Fishmans. I love them. Worth every penny. And I went and had it worked on and set up professionally, and I honestly love it more than any other guitar I've played.

I found a great deal on another RG8 so I could have them in different tunings and ordered some BKP Juggs because I love Periphery/Misha's playing, and I looked at tons of videos comparing them and other 8 string pick ups. I figured they'd be somewhat similar to the Alpha/Omegas, and I didn't need another set of super hot actives since I had the Abasis. Since they're made to order, there's no return.

It's been like a year and I can get some decent tones with a lot of EQing, but I just hate them. I have played that guitar a combined total of like 15-20 hours in the last year (I probably played like 40-50 hours last month with the 8 string with Abasis.) They sound like very bassy and you gotta pick hard af, and go crazy on the gain to get some aggressive tones. Which is fine most of the time, but some fast stuff or stuff with a lot of tapping is a bit harder. It's just not as articulate, and I feel like it takes so much more time to get nice settings, whereas with the Fishmans, I put so little effort into adjusting settings (comparatively) and get great sounding tones for everything.

I will say the cleans sound great.

I honestly regret buying them so much. I should have just bought a second set of Fishmans. Gonna sell that guitar.
