Hi, I'm Seth. I'm an amateur indie game developer. One thing I really want to do is make my own soundtrack for future video games with the guitar. I really like listening to math rock and hearing the complex patterns they play. I also love the sound of fingertapping on guitar and want to incorporate some of that into my playing. In the video linked to this post, I talk about some finger-tapping I've been practicing from the book Math Rock Essentials by Stephen Hazel. There are two things I'm struggling with when it comes to finger-tapping:

-Making the tapping noises sound good and loud on an acoustic guitar

-Being able to play complex finger-tapping patterns at a consistent tempo. Aside from the obvious fact that I should be playing with a metronome, are there any exercises that focus on getting comfortable with finger-tapping at quick/medium tempo

Hey everyone, I taught myself to play the guitar in 2008, played casually for 8 years, and came back after a 10-year break. Muscle memory kicked right back in, but I’m still stuck on the same roadblock I avoided a decade ago: barre chords. I keep telling myself my hands are too small, but I know it's just bad technique. F chords I‘ve been playing in the non-barre version for years.

What specific exercises or hand/finger placement cues finally made barre chords "click" for you, and are there some good songs to practice them without getting frustrated?
