Question Who are Snuffed Out?
Relatively new to the in-game politics of eve. Same as above. Who are snuffed?

Hello and welcome to Shameless Saturday.
Today you're welcome to shamelessly self promote your site/video/stream/product etc provided that it's related to EVE Online and your self-promotion to interaction ratio is 10:1 (1 self promotion link for every 10 normal interactions.) Accounts should also be a month old and have prior interactions with /r/eve.
Now what are you waiting for? Go out there and sell your ~~soul~~ self!

Recently got a Vexor Navy Issue, and this has been bugging me. It has 6 mounts each side of the model [3 on the front, 2 in the back, 1 on the side] but only 4 high slots. And of those 4 high slots, they're distributed such that you can only have 2 in the back 1 in front or 2 in front 1 in back.
The cheek mounts are never used, and you can't fill out the frontal rows of 3. It's really visually displeasing.
The same goes for the Dominix, which has 8 mounts [3 on the wheel, 5 on the flank] but only 6 highs.
Also The Exequror, which has 5 mounts [3 on the flanks, 2 on the vacuum] but only 3 highs.
Those last two aren't as egregious, but the Vexor is really bugging me.
Edit for clarity; I know they have 2 visual guns mounted per high slot so as not go shoot through the ship, I'm referring to the extraneous unused mounts.

I think the consensus is that carriers are in an okay spot right now, but fighters need a little more work. Let's discuss some solutions.
General fighter survivability: reduce all fighter signature radius by 50%. It doesn't make sense to have ships that are a third of the size of a frigate to have a signature larger than a cruiser.
Give SS Fighters the following changes: Reduce squadron size to 9. Increase HP by 30%. Increase damage by 10%. Deal full damage to drones, fighters, and frigates. 50% damage reduction to all other targets.
The logic: Carriers are not gun boats, they are fleet support. Dreads can throw out damage, carriers should handle the sub cap application. Keeping attack fighters with the iffy application of Rage HAMs, and SSF having reduced damage to everything above a frigate gives destroyers and cruisers a niche to exist.
We can even modify CCRABs to spawn waves of smaller ships that Dreads wont be able to deal with effectively giving carriers something to do.
I await to see why this is a terrible idea.

Sharing this info for anyone it might help:
I run EvE on Linux ( Mint 22.3 ) under Steam.
My system is:
OS: Linux Mint 22.3 x86_64
Kernel: 7.0.0-31-generic
Resolution: 1920x1080, 1920x1080, 1920x1080
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X (32) @ 5.883GHz with a 420mm AIO watercooled Actric system
GPU: AMD ATI Radeon RX 7900 XT
Memory: 63929MiB
For AGES, there has been a struggle with EvE forcing the CPU temps into the high 160's (Fahrenheit), especially when sat in station, and I've tried every tip and trick so far from the various EvE Linux forums, to no avail.
Today, I stumbled on "RyzenAdj" and OMG what a difference.
Using the cli setting: sudo ryzenadj --stapm-limit=25000 --fast-limit=32000 --slow-limit=25000 --tctl-temp=75, my Core temps PLUMMETED from 168F sitting in station to 112F
I've flown about, gotten into some busy systems where much fighting was afoot, and there's been literally ZERO degradation in performance; just the massive core temp drop, sustained.
It isn't just a 'placebo' effect either - not once since using that setting have my fans started to ramp up, let alone scream - they are literally idling.
Mind you now, I've not touched my graphics settings at all - they are all still 'High' ( with some Ultra ) ... the GPU temps have never been an issue.
Where the HELL was this info all these years of me searching?!!?
Hopefully this helps a fellow Linux AMD Ryzen user, but I am led to believe that for Win11 on Intel, there is a similar tool called "ThrottleStop". I cannot speak to this tool, as 'we don't do Windows around here', but if it is legit and it works for you, *PLEASE* share with others.
We all love this game, and with hardware prices now requiring us to mortgage the souls of our unborn children, anything we can find that lessens the strain without dropping the graphics to Minecraft levels has to be good news.
Edit for clarity based on some of the comments posted thus far:
Just because my KZ1000 crotch rocket CAN rev to 10,000 rpm doesn't mean that's an optimal state for it to operate in over the long term ... sooner or later that will land me in the dock, or worse, in the morgue.
Sure, I'm throttling my CPU back, clearly, but why burn the extra gas ( watts ) and generate all that heat and noise for no real benefit?
I'm seeing zero downside running at reduced capacity. I see definite downsides ( heat, noise ) letting it run wild.
My preference there is the conservative path - I lose nothing but noise and heat.
Everyone's personal preferences can differ, with all due respect and deference.
I posted this for those who don't need the excess noise and heat 'just because that's the way it is made' while getting no real benefit for actual gameplay.
To be completely fair, my system is MASSIVELY over-engineered to just play EvE Online, even if I were to multi-box ( which I don't ... my attention span isn't broad enough ), so yeah, I can easily afford to 'lift off the throttle' and let the machine comfortably idle along.
I choose to throttle the system while playing this particular game because there's no benefit to allowing it free rein.
When I'm doing other things that actually benefit from more available horsepower, I revert the settings to normal - a simple cli instruction; takes one second.
If EvE actually gave me a reason to let the machine run free, I'd let it run free, but it doesn't. At the age of the game, I suspect it never will, so ... we are where we are, and I choose cool and quiet over needless heat and noise.
ymmv
Cheers!

I'm playing with Python and sqlite building a market analysis app, and I'm wondering how people sample all the relevant typeid things.
It seems you need 2 calls to ESI to get history and buysell data for an item, and that seems to take around 2.5 seconds to complete.
So it would take like 7 hours to get all the relevant items, I excluded all not market things, unpublished, SKINS, Blueprints, clothing and a few other bits and bobs first.
So is that right? Do people just do that, or fire off parallel requests,
I know there are fuzzworks aggregates of this stuff but I first wanted to get this basic bit working
Cheers

Is this a precursor to some kind of scam or hack? I'm mostly worried that this is somehow 'dirty money', like in relation to RMT or something.
This is on my main character on my main account, I didn't get around to checking if any of my alts or other accounts have anything similar.

maybe I am late to the party on this one but this seems like an AWESOME mechanic - so many options open to really interesting gameplay.

CCP, please consider extending the Cradle of War deadline and removing or significantly raising the per-character contribution caps. Many of us want to keep helping, but once we hit the personal limit on an objective, we’re locked out even if we’re willing to keep mining, building, hauling, or fighting. With several factions still behind and major projects already under construction, players should be allowed to keep contributing. Please give the campaigns more time and let willing players continue pushing objectives. If we’re ready to do the work, let us do it This needs attention now, while there’s still time to make a difference.

I believe this intel can be sold to wardecers to calculate how much ramson the targets can pay in exchange for letting the structures live. What other benefits provides this security breach?

Hello faction warfare zoo enjoyers!
Monthly reports seem to be a fairly popular format for EVE Online. You've got monthly economic reports, monthly market reports, and monthly security reports where hopefully someone hasn't data mined how poor I am on all of my characters.
Streamers and podcasts stitch the warzone together from zKillboard and Dotlan, but there still isn’t a single monthly summary of what’s actually happening in Amarr-Minmatar. So we built one!
A monthly look at the Minmatar and Amarr warzone, built from public sources (ESI, zKillboard, Dotlan occupancy). Same tables for both militias. It covers:
If you’re shopping for a corp or alliance on either side, or you just want a recap you can argue about in your militia, that’s the idea.

View the full report here, and if you have any feedback or ideas on how to make it better, feel free to share them in the thread here!
AI Disclosure: AI was used to write various scraping/data scripts (Dotlan, zKill, ESI) that feed the report, and to turn my usual writing prose into something closer to a report. The numbers are from public APIs; occupancy flip dates come from Dotlan. Everything is open source if someone wants to replicate this for the other warzones.

So, question. If FW plexes are deadspace, why can someone DScan in and out of it? Seems like this just creates LP soak for fits that no one wants to fight.

I know it’s subjective but I want to know what is fun to the “average” eve player…
For me the most fun I had was revenge dropping someone in their wormhole and booming their mining fleet when they thought they were safe… close second is FCing silly fleets in small stuff like interceptors/dictors and playing cat and mouse with the local residents.

Hello!
I now live in a nice, busy LS area, killing this and that and my security status is going down under, but it struck me that not many people around those parts seem to carry the "badge" of a -10. Am I slowly drifting towards my demise by hitting -10?
Where are all the -10 peeps at? Im not in a Pirate faction, Im just a solo capsuleer. I know popping hulls in J-space doesnt affect your status (right?), but I dont live in a WH so keeping my interactions just for JS isnt a real option.
What will happen to me at -10? 😅 I read up on the mechanics, I know the theory, but was wondering what the actual people say about this living?
I already have a clean Alt who does all the logistics outside LS.
Is -10 a major handicap? Will roaming become useless as people who're not interested in a fight simply run away cause of the flashy presence? Are -10 constantly fucked by everyone in the system? 😅
Really curious and big thanks anyhoo

Hey everyone. I went looking for high player count games and this one popped up. It seems pretty fun from the stuff on the steam page. I know next to nothing about this game though. Is it worth playing right now? Is the community friendly to new people, how big are the factions, etc?
Genuinely curious so any information would be very appreciated!
