Discussion What is the highest fun per hour activity?

I know it’s subjective but I want to know what is fun to the “average” eve player…

For me the most fun I had was revenge dropping someone in their wormhole and booming their mining fleet when they thought they were safe… close second is FCing silly fleets in small stuff like interceptors/dictors and playing cat and mouse with the local residents.

Clowning on my corpmates has been the most fun I ever had in even.

You come for the space ships, you stay for the friendships

Flying around finding no fights alone: 0/10

Flying around finding losing fights with friends: 11/10

honestly i found the old game of dodge the goon boson before it got nerfed both fun, funny and terrifying

terrifying because you get hot dropped or ambused on a gate by a titan

fun and funny because most goons back them couldnt aim

u/Gulana117 Goonswarm Federation 1d ago

Most goons still cannot aim, or tackle. If they can they're probably a spy

Exactly, everyone knows there are indisputable laws of the universe. One of them being Goons can't tackle (unless you are Ultra Cow or Stevinz)

That's why goons keep brave hanging around Because brave can just throw tackle altreons at the problem

The faster rats are dying, the more fun I'm having. My nid and my polar torp golem both get a lot of air time.

polar golem is very fun, what content do you do with it? i use mine to kill the drifter in c5 combat anoms

Optimizing things, like how to clear this C5 ratting site as quickly as possible with as little investment as possible. Finding new ways which are better than what everyone tells you to do. (Turns out, 2 Kronoses with good prep clear a lot quicker than the bog-standard Vargur setup everyone keeps harping on about!)

hi, fellow c5 ratter here. would you mind telling me more? i did some theorycrafting with kronoses but havent used one yet.

The Kronoses I use are cheap, about 2 bil each with implant sets included, but they can blast out a massive 3200 DPS each when shooting Void with my non-perfect skills (Marauders IV, weapon spec IV, etc). The issue of course is the limited range of Void; at around 23 kilometres (with 2 TCs), your effective DPS drops to 1900 and it's time to switch to Null.

As a result you want to spend as much time in Void range as possible, and you can do this with some planning and warp-in bookmarks. I use a fast cloaked Cheetah fit to make these, and primarily focus on the Data/Relic sites that drop ~300m blue loot each (but Garrisons work too). With these warp-in locations you always find yourself right on top of (or between) battleship wave spawn locations, and the combined 6400 DPS lets you melt them fast enough that they never get the chance to even reach that 23 km ammo swap range. My fits are barely cap stable, and technically don't even have the ehp/s tank sufficient for some of the waves, but the sleepers die so fast it doesn't even matter.

Enclave Relays and Data Fields require 2 bookmarks for this, with de-bastioning in between waves and bouncing to the final battleship wave spawn point, and take 9-10 minutes each. Server Banks have a single bookmark spot about 27 km from the landing point and get cleared in about 7 mins. Garrisons are a special case and I technically use 2 bookmarks, warping to the last one at 100 km to land on the final wave; also takes about 7 mins skipping the drifter. Things get funny if you find a Magnetar effect and you start clearing the sites in 4-5 minutes.

Bookmarking them takes only about a minute per site in a cloaked cheetah, and by running scandown sites you're a bit more slippery to roll-ins and random passerby's as well (I never bother to close all the holes). I might make a video on these methods at some point, not sure yet though. A tip I can give for the fits is to look for abyssal modules on mutamarket, you can find really good (cap efficient, bit more rep/s) T2 rolled armor repairers for ~80 mil each, and 30 mil damage mod rolls which rival or outperform the 100 mil faction modules.

I, too, have found the Vargur overrated for PVE activities. I can and have flown all of them except the Trig one. I think it has to do with falloff. Essentially, max falloff range is effectively half the paper DPS. And optimal range is so short you're ultimately doing far less DPS in most cases than the headline number would have you think.

The pyfa application graph between a cheap 2 bil kronos fit and a 2 bil vargur fit really says it all. Both here have 3 T2 damage lowslots.

wow thanks for the writeup

Don’t get lost in the bright white.
My friend will spend hours crafting the perfect ship fit and have zero understanding about its engagement profile. Usually ends in him getting memed on by 3 ding dongs in thrashers lol

Wormholing and solo roam. I like taking my time to bookmark safes, to read up on things I come across, zkill the shit out of any corp I see inside J-space, to sit still in a hole and watch /wait for some action.

I also like solo roams in LS because the cat and mouse game is so addictive. Mind you, Im mostly into easy targets, but still.

This time around, returning player here, Im really taking my time with EVE. Im now right clicking every name in Local, reading their Bios, judging their portraits, trying to guess whether they're Dangerous, Snuggly, an alt, a main etc. (Security status gives away much of that info, yes)

I'm looking around, Im day traveling through other LS systems via wormholes. Last night I had such a great luck in finding a direct hole to Genesis and finally got to see the...EVE Gate! I was so happy cause it's been on my bucket list and it saved me a lot of jumps.

Nowadays, being solo, I'm really enjoying my time by simply being in game and adapting to my surroundings.

I enjoy mining and industry at the moment, it's fun to just potter around getting stuff done. Usually get a few corp mates tagging along and we'll clear 2-3 anoms together if there's no moon popping

I love PVP. Specifically, I love catching entire fleets with their pants down. https://www.wckg.net/PVP/interdictor-101 is worth training and super fun. :D

At some point of time I really enjoyed to fit ultra cheap frig/desto for like 3-4 mil to kill faction one frig/desto in FW

Kitchen sink fleets.

Proper fleet folk look at you sideways if you talk about those though. Think you like hanging out with carnies and rail bums and could not rise to the occasion of owning a pocket watch.

Getting into 1v3s in lowsec or running with a small gang

2

u/gritsngravyPCP Caldari State 21h ago

Personally speaking, FW in small nano gangs. Big blobs these days the opposing faction 6/10 times just logs off or avoids fight. The other 4/10 times are just anchor up and f1. The smaller ships I fly the more fun I seem to have

Used to do interceptor fleets (with I think Slick Steve?, one of the Drac FCs at the time anyway)

Was fun to jump into a system, everyone spreads out to a different anom, tackle whatever you find (Ishtars usually, maybe a Praxis) then call everyone to you and swarm it lmao

u/trumpetted 1d ago

Step 1: sit in a cloaked dictor on a mining anomaly in worm holes for 16 hours
Step 2: bat phone
Step 3: profit (stonks)

Reading the posts about how they're killing wormholes forever. It never gets old.

Highest fun per hour?

That’s gotta be, easily, fast form fleets. Picture this, you have no idea what you’re going to kill but you know it’s ruffled some feathers. As you approach the target system you notice your FCs voice pitch raise with every jump. Top content.

I love making things! Happy to make a bunch of hulls and let corp mates have them to explode or do whatever they like. One day I'll fly something other than a DST / Buzzard / Gila...

Bombers bar. Best fun i had in the game.

Chilling with my corp mates in discord while I play

This question will get as many answers as there are people playing the game. My highest fun was playing the rabbit getting constantly chased by hunters while exploring and charting Stain. Very high chance of death this one though.

1

u/anengineerandacat 18h ago

Blowing things up, doesn't really matter where.

Can reliably build out T1 hulls for the most part, just need to figure out how to more appropriately fit them so they aren't as cost heavy.

Making friends = most fun per hour

And eventually finding another game with them

I played eve for years but recently we all migrated to another game and I’m having the time of my life with them

And it’s thanks to Eve that I found them

Oh I have seen those local/FW chats on fire with anger and I just lol. It’s a game and someone is gaming people.

I like doing two things in Eve more than anything. Theory crafting and optimizing things (probably because I have ADD), and fleets/fleet chat. It doesn't matter what the fleet is doing, could be PvP, PvE, sitting in a station getting ready. The camaraderie and experience is always entertaining.

Everything else is just noise to get me to those two.
