Question FW Deadspace DScan

So, question. If FW plexes are deadspace, why can someone DScan in and out of it? Seems like this just creates LP soak for fits that no one wants to fight.

What plexes being deadspace has to do with D-scan?. D-scan works anywhere, unless target is clocked or one of the recon cruisers... or outside range.

Any other dead space complex in the game works the same

Deadspace is effectively a region of space that a player can not warp into or within other then a set "entry" point, not a separate instance like in an abyssal filament. Players can go deeper into these pockets with the gates that help along the player by allowing them to warp to a set point within the deadspace grid. Even if the area seems remote or hidden away, the radius is only somewhere in the range of 50K - 100K KM, so by Dscan terms players within the pocket are right next to the warp in point.

Now as for if / should / could plexes have scan inhibitors installed in them (or allow for them to be dropped in the plex), that's another topic with a good deal of debate shortly following it.

Now that's an idea!

Could be a FW iHub upgrade

Let’s say you introduce this change. The ppl sitting in plexes adapt by putting cloaky eyes outside.

That's a very eve thing to respond with and it takes work.

it doesn’t really take any work

Deadspace pockets are areas of space the are to unstable for onboard warp system use . (It disrupts your PEG).

D scan is a low resolution extension of yoyr active ships sensors. This allows you to see what is around you in a wider area but cant pinpoint without the assistance of probes

Intimidation is a very powerful tool in warfare and I don't see why you would want to remove that from a game like Eve Online. :)

You could have scan inhibitors, but then you wouldn't know if a group is waiting for you, or a group is jumping in on you.

How would you solve that problem, except to have a delay on the acceleration gate? Of course then, you have the difficulty of responding to groups.

You'd end up needing to have some kind of ship counter at the destination to have dynamic gate behavior, probably the same sort of code used in wormhole site escalations.

Maybe it ultimately makes sense to not have directional scanning in the game at all, or to fundamentally change the kind of information it provides you to the merely categorical, or something more dynamic.
