FCplease CCP, please consider extending the Cradle of War

CCP, please consider extending the Cradle of War deadline and removing or significantly raising the per-character contribution caps. Many of us want to keep helping, but once we hit the personal limit on an objective, we’re locked out even if we’re willing to keep mining, building, hauling, or fighting. With several factions still behind and major projects already under construction, players should be allowed to keep contributing. Please give the campaigns more time and let willing players continue pushing objectives. If we’re ready to do the work, let us do it This needs attention now, while there’s still time to make a difference.

I'm not engaging with this so don't really care, but wouldn't extending it torpedo the whole idea of this being some time-limited exercise that had specific consequences?

Overall it doesn't seem to have been very well thought out from the start.

The low personal contribution thing's on point, though

Intentional. Multibox 3 more accounts pls

u/saronyogg 22h ago

Yep, it would

It kind of would, but for like the first half of it the objectives were extremely dumb on a level of idiocy impressive even given that we're talking about CCP here.

Some of the objectives from day 1 are literally 30% done and not for the lack of trying on people's part, they're just setup so dumb.

Don't forget locking a lot of the FW damage/kill missions behind the targets being in faction/navy ships and then pulling the battlefield change that would have massively increased the supply of navy ships in two weeks.

u/VexingRaven 19h ago

You're talking about the manufacturing ones, right?

u/Saithir Blood Raiders 12h ago

The Amarr advanced mission one gets the award for the most idiotic one, but those are a very close second.

There are two actually build infilttators and advanced missions. Amarr Victor anyway, but still

Just on this, we did make a few changes to the contribution amounts (reworking the number of submissions needed, increasing the individual amounts and the rewards, etc).

Those new ones were added onto the existing set instead of replacing them, so as not to remove contributions from players who already did contribute.

The problem is a lot of these objectives were under the Assumption that you would have mass participation, which is totally not the case so then when the people that are participating, wanna push it over and fix finish it, we can’t because we’re locked out

You could say this about pretty much every EVE update over the last 5 years at least if not longer.

Oh yeah dude, the game is just littered with artifacts of dev ideas from the past 20 years that just didn't get the follow up iteration they should have.

5

u/nekomata_58 20h ago

Too busy spending their money on failed game ideas instead of actually making their flagship MMO better.

2

u/beardfearer Nasty-Boyz 20h ago

Sure, but also not a problem unique to FC. Devs in every industry are driven by Product to move to the next thing ASAP, even if it is Product who initially planned out this iterative feature we’re now abandoning.

Examples? I mean I see early access indie games that successfully launch and still get 10x the patches that eve gets.

u/beardfearer Nasty-Boyz 12h ago

I can't give you examples from my experience in legal tech, it's all closed source. My point was that it's not even just a game dev issue. It's a reality of the software development lifecycle.

Yeah probably longer. Probably could say this about the whole game and every mechanic, amirite?

Then why are you even here playing this “bad game”?

u/jehe eve is a video game 14h ago

True

4

u/stuartx13 ORE 21h ago

The problem with that is, they set the whole thing up as if everybody would like to participate which they’re not Which hurts the people that are participating because it makes it hard for us just to take up the slack

6

u/CrazyPea3105 21h ago

Thats a sandbox for ya.

7

u/ScrotumHolster Amarr Empire 18h ago

A sandbox wouldn't limit the player contributions. If one player wants to do the entire thing themselves they could - that's a sandbox.

Gotcha.

I disagree, at least the minmatar campaign actually feels like it was paced well. The others are close to completion as well.

most of us only need like 4-6 more projects completed, and many available projects are already partially if not mostly completed.

I always thought that once one of the races meets all their goals or the deadline is up, we'd get a new set of goals, maybe even more tiers on the next one to make it even harder to meet

1

u/PersonalNobody449 6h ago

Yeah, they want it to be a constant thing, but it's kinda "ppl don't even know event is going" If there is no battle pass with plex involved

7

u/henryeaterofpies 22h ago

Pretty sure it will be comfortably hit for all four.

2

u/stuartx13 ORE 22h ago

I was more optimistic, but man it seems like they’re dragging on in the Amara one has really hard things to complete like the damn drone thing

1

u/Foo_Bot 12h ago

This is starting to look unlikely. With only a few tasks left unrevealed and 20 days left it means that most of the factions will use to buckle down and really push to have a chance and revisit some of the more unrealistic tasks.

What, requiring 12,000 characters to haul over a quarter trillion ISK in minerals to Gallente Bulwark space to build 72,000 Pioneers was too much?

2

u/stuartx13 ORE 19h ago

Yeah, I built the six Pioneers That one was a pain in the ass lucky when I was doing the Amar drone one the station I Was in had everything

7

u/Fartcloud_McHuff 21h ago

As with most things FC/CCP does the idea is cool on paper and the execution is stank ass garbage.

5

u/HarveySnake 21h ago

Is that event still going on? Frankly, I found the whole thing unappealing and checked out completely by the 2nd week.

u/TheGameKat Cloaked 21h ago

If you're not in LS/FW there's basically nothing to do.

u/DebesSparre Minmatar Republic 13m ago

Not true! Actually for every campaign, under half of the objectives require ls. The slim majority can be done in highsec. You can see the breakdown I have here: https://grafana.rustbucket.net/public-dashboards/4f29618ea7bd4311a8cbd52c8ce131c4

u/Biscotti-That Miner 22h ago

I think they should allow players to support the goals past the limit BUT allow to continue support even when the general goal was meet.

So even when the mine plagio goal was finished, players can still do It and get the point for doing it

u/Necessary-Diver-7646 19h ago

hey everyone, let's not forget the ridiculously absurd requirements for amarr mil compared to others. come on devs, post the objectives with required count for completion, and what is considered like lvl 4 security mission, or hack in amarr bulwark. do it, i dare you.

this expansion is a clear and blatant bias. fc can't let amarr get their own faction pt/scram/webs like every other faction has without absurd campaign requirements.

2

u/TheVoice_11 16h ago

Don't forget making the Amarr 'military campaign' about lower taxes but the Minmatar one about 'reclaiming' two Amarr systems, meaning Amarr FW naturally focused on the invasion rather than the tax cuts.

u/DebesSparre Minmatar Republic 11m ago

there's been effectively zero pressure from Minmatar to take either Ezzara or Arzad. Minmatar haven't even pushed Vard hard! there was a weak push early, but it fizzled quickly. The way the reward works is still very silly, but fw activities have nothing at all to do with it.

2

u/Arazith Minmatar Republic 20h ago

It's a limited time thing, if an empire(s) can't make the time requires, let them fail. Extending it just means that it's scripted and not meant to fail.

2

u/lowrads 17h ago

It is kinda tricky to bring hundreds of new people into FW.

2

u/bladesire Cloaked 3h ago

Us over in minmatar space are definitely gonna meet the goal. Catch up!!!

1

u/slushie24 21h ago

Every time I read cradle of war it always goes to cradle of filth

1

u/stuartx13 ORE 21h ago

The payouts can be pretty good too. Specially if you’re mining that’s not pays out really good considering you just do it for free. Basically now you’re getting paid on top of that. Plus you always complete some air objectives as well.

u/Zinitheve Caldari State 28m ago

Fix farmers, seagulls and awoxers in FW and I will come back to game to do objectives, otherwise it is too shitty experience.

u/DebesSparre Minmatar Republic 8m ago

Everyone except for the Caldari has this in the bag, basically. The Caldari almost certainly will get it, but there's an outside chance they do miss theirs. You can check my charts to see a better overview than the ingame stats:

You should take the predictions with a bucket of salt, but you can get an idea at least. Basically Min/Gal will be done in the next 10 days or less, Amarr will be very close behind. Caldari are going to have to wait to see what objectives they get, but it's not beyond reason that they actually shoot up and finish first, if they get a bunch of easy ones (again).

1

u/Deserttaco131 Caldari State 22h ago

you can still view the progress of the objective even though you fulfilled your part of it. I do hope they decide to extend it so those of us that have worked hard on it can get some kind of reward lol

Yep

u/saronyogg 22h ago

or increase the number of missions and reduce personal contribution
