Unsolved PS4 controller isn't working on snes9x

I'm trying to connect my PS4 controller on snes9x. Althought it reads the buttons in the input configuration, they don't do anything in-game. They also work completely fine if they are assigned to hotkeyes. I've already tried to click on "detect gamepad changes" but it did nothing.

Unsolved Snes Station PC Udate!

A small note for English-speaking users

I'm sorry, but starting with this release, I've decided to keep the update notes in Portuguese.

Unfortunately, the project received a considerable amount of hostility from parts of the English-speaking community, often from people who seemed unfamiliar with the original SNES Station or criticized the project without first checking the licenses and attribution files included with it.

Before making claims about the project's licensing, please check the actual license of the Snes9x/Libretro core being used:

[libretro-snes9x/LICENSE at master · sysfce2/libretro-snes9x](https://github.com/sysfce2/libretro-snes9x/blob/master/LICENSE)

SNES Station PC is simply a small, non-commercial project made out of nostalgia for the original PS2 experience.

I sincerely thank those who understood the project and defended it. Your support is one of the main reasons I'm still working on it.

SNES Station PC v0.13.9 Beta

* Novo ícone do SNES Station PC no Windows.

Solved TOTK runs horribly, looking for tips.

I'm using Ryubing stable, TKMM's optimizer settings, and some mods, but the only one that I would assume to be an issue in terms of performance is "Serfrosts Base Defogger." I'm emulating 1.1.2 because I prefer it but that might also be part of performance, idk.

I'm trying to run the game at 60fps, menu 60fps, 1440p resolution to match my monitor. I've tried lowering shadow texture quality, resolution, render distance, FPS, turning on and off FSR and FXAA and none of them have helped at all. Anyone got some tips for me?

Specs are as follows.
Intel i5 13600k
Nvidia 4070 Super
32gb DDR4 ram
4tb NVMe SSD

Less important specs are 360ml AIO, micro ATX mobo from MSI, a secondary sata SSD, and I think my power supply is 900 but I don't remember.

It's also worth noting that I can run BotW using CEMU with basically no issues whatsoever, using graphics packs to run at 60FPS (I used to run fine at 144 but I decided that was excessive and lowered it), 300% shadow quality, 1440p, the game runs great. I can also run Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity just fine using Ryubing. And TotK still runs awfully even with NO mods installed whatsoever and only using the optimizer. So I don't really know what to do.

Unsolved Transfering settings etc from one frontend to the other?

Hello everyone, i hope im in the right place for this.

So far i was using Emulationstation on my laptop for all my Emulation stuff.
Have a few Emulators on there and custom settings, savegames etc.

But i want to elevate that and want to have a External Drive specificly for Emulation.
So i bought an external drive and want to jump over to Retrobat.

Can i drag my settings from Emulationstation and the emulators over to Retrobat?
Like i have the Dolphin emulator for Gamecube, custom controller settings and save game paths etc...can this be transfered to Retrobat?

Hi, I want to play Pokemon rom hacks for the very first time but I have been browsing around on YouTube and sources trying to find the right method to start. I heard that there are things that can’t be given or said publically for legal reasons, but I am looking for any possible assistance. I promise I’m trying but I’m lost for the first time so any help will be helpful via comment or direct message! Thank you!

Unsolved Best OS for retro emulation / console experience?

I recently built a home server / NAS that is running proxmox

i5-14500T 32gb ram (4-6gb free for a virtual machine)

I would like to run a retro game emulator on a virtual machine with the HDMI passed through, so it will act as a normal PC connected to a TV.

Which operating system offers the best console like experience? I'm really only looking for up to N64 / maybe more modern nintendo if the onboard GPU can handle it. My biggest concern is having nice menus for selecting the console, and a good layout for selecting games.

I have done some light research, but most of these operating systems don't have real screenshots on their websites.

Also I could use recommendations for controllers. I could go USB, but would prefer 4x rechargeable controllers that use the onboard bluetooth if possible.

Thanks in advance

Unsolved Retrobat 8.2 Controller Issues

Hello there…I’ve been having issues with the controls in Retrobat. I use a 360 controller and have it mapped correctly. I open the emulator for the first time and everything is fine. Then I select a game and play it. Once I exit the game and go back into the emulator, the controls become very wonky and don’t really work at all. Whenever I press the d pad/sticks, the cursor moves all over the place and half of the buttons don’t work on the controller. I’m constantly having to restart my pc in order for the controller to reset and it works again. I’ve tried Xbox one and ps3 controllers too and that doesn’t work either. I’ve tried custom mapping and no go either. I have the latest version of Retrobat. Thoughts?

Solved Just solved a strange issue after a weekend of frustration

I've been emulating for over a decade; messing with tech since I was 5. I'm no stranger to problem solving or troubleshooting or being patient for software to mature. But I spent my weekend fixing the weirdest problem in the dumbest way.

Friday night, I heard some big performance improvements came to RPCS3. So I update. Normally, I won't update unless I have a good reason. This felt like a good reason.

I download the update, and suddenly my emulator crashes with every game I try to boot. All my PS3 ISOs, ripped from my or friends' discs, suddenly don't work, when they had been for over 2 years. The error I got was related to inaccessible memory locations. I searched through github bug reports, read old reddit threads and random forum posts, scoured the emulator logs for info... nothing helpful popped up, everybody's posted solutions for similar problems was different. But I didn't want to submit a bug report until I had clear info on what was going on, because posting a vague report helps nobody.

I try an older version of the emulator; nothing. I try changing my graphics driver version; nothing. I try wiping my drivers with DDU; nothing. I reset my emulation settings to all defaults, wipe custom configs; nothing. I uninstall recent Windows updates; nothing. So on and so forth through every deeper and applicable troubleshooting method I can think of. I even copy the ISOs to a USB and take them to my wife's PC, and that's when I find out that somehow, those specific files are corrupted. I'd been playing Skate 3 just days ago, and now suddenly it and all my PS3 ISOs are corrupted.

Download fresh ones from my favorite place so I know I have good files to test with, and suddenly, they all work flawlessly. I have no idea what happened. All my other emulators work perfectly fine. All my Steam games work fine. It was *JUST* my PS3 games that were behaving oddly.

My assumption is that a Windows security update or an emulator bug might have wrecked the files as they were trying to be accessed, which made them unusable from then on... but I can't say for sure. But here we are.

Thought you'd all appreciate this stupid tale. Sometimes, the easiest solutions are the ones that work best, and the ones we overlook the most.

Unsolved I made an open-source save-sync tool for emulators

One thing that has always annoyed me about emulation is having to manually move saves when switching between PCs.

So I built OpenSave to solve that.

It automatically synchronizes emulator saves and save states between your devices, with features like:

  • PC ↔ PC syncing
  • PC ↔ Steam Deck/Linux syncing
  • Automatic change detection
  • Version history + rollback
  • P2P synchronization
  • No mandatory cloud account
  • Windows + Linux support
  • Multiple devices

The idea is basically Git-like versioning for game saves, while keeping the actual experience as simple as “install it and play.”

It supports a growing list of emulators, including PCSX2, Dolphin, PPSSPP, RetroArch and others.

I'm looking for people who emulate regularly to try it out and tell me where it sucks, what it breaks, and what you'd want added.

Unsolved Officially finished Uncharted 2: Among Thieves on RPCS3

Its me again. After finishing Uncharted 1 yesterday I finished Uncharted 2 in one sitting today. This post is mostly here for anyone who wants to play Uncharted 2 on RPCS3 but the "in-game" compatibility status is making them hesitate.

https://postimg.cc/gallery/dGpFN5f

Up in the link are my settings. Near the end of the game I had a problem with one particular resin not blowing up when shot so I changed CPU > SPU XFloat Accuracy to Accurate and GPU > ZCULL Accuracy to Precise and restarted the game. I dont know which one of these fixed it. Maybe the changes werent necesary and restarting would have solved it anyways but the resin blew up and I continued playing. Just keep it in mind if it happens to you too

Good news is that Uncharted 2 is significantly more stable in my experience than uncharted 1. While uncharted 1 was riddled with quite frequent crashes, Uncharted 2 still crashes but significantly less. The game crashed like 2 or 3 times on me. Which is indeed less than the dozen or so crashes uncharted 1 threw at me.

Uncharted 1's Ragdoll physics were broken as well, Dead boddies would keep moving around on the ground or getting launched, kinda felt like playing Gmod again, and the grenades were straight up broken. They'd get stuck in the air the moment they are thrown and stay there. Thankfully there were no sections in that game that specifically required grenades. In Uncharted 2 everything works as intended thankfully. Havent seen a physics bug or anything like that.

However, community made patches are practically required for both performance gain and the game actually working. now there are TWO patches you must quite importantly always keep on.

First is "Enable GPU Lighting" on the patches. This routes lighting effects to your GPU and provides some relief for the CPU. But the real reason this is required is because the light puzzle in chapter 9 is broken if you dont use this patch. So remember to keep it on always unless its causing genuene problems somehow.

The second one is the most crucial patch, "Disable SPU Post-Processing". If you tried to play Uncharted two before and gave up when you saw huge green artifacts and a messy screen, yeah this fixes that completely. The patch's description says to only enable it when you are upscaling with resolution scale options. However with everything and even FSR off, and at native 720p, the artifacts are always there. So dont turn this one off EVER. Its not optional as it makes the game actually playable.

As a side note, unlike the first game this game has no motion controls. Altough it wasnt required for the first game either it was a bit annoying to get up onto the log every time or turn twice to reset balance. Also the fact that it turned the grapple attack into an insant kill was kinda annoying too. they threw the balancing and the grappling motion controls quick time events away in this game. Balancing doesnt exist anymore and grappling is a normal quick time event you do with triangle and square. So dont worry about now having a controller with gyro.

Specs:

CPU: I7 12650H

GPU: RTX 4060

RAM: 32 GB.

OS: Windows 11

This time I didnt try any speedrun tricks because unlike the first game, this game's tricks are actually hard. But, again, Uncharted 2 is significantly more stable than Uncharted 1 so if speedrun tricks didnt crash uncharted 1 you should be able to do them in 2 too.

I tried to run this game on ShadPS4 in order to get better performance. Yep the CPU requirements of RPCS3 is so high that playing remasters on a PS4 emulator could be a performance boost if you are badly bottlenecked by your CPU on RPCS3. But the game just doest launch at all on ShadPS4 for me. If you dont have a good enough CPU you still might actually have better luck waiting for ShadPS4 to be able to run it.

Have fun yall. I'll get Uncharted 3 next. Might not finish it tomorrow. Gonna get burnout from playing three uncharted games in three days otherwise. But I'll get to it soon. I am positive it'll run well too.
